Our A/C stopped working in the evening past 8 PM We called an Emergency service and they were supposed to call back, but they never did. I had texted Al as he came highly recommended on an App called NextDoor a local neighborhood community type place. He informed me immediately that he didn't have what he would need to fix it but if I wanted he would be at my home with the necessary tools @ 730AM. I explained the situation regarding the other call and that I had to give them a chance to contact me 1st as I would have honestly preferred to have the A/C on immediately and he was fine no pushiness, rudeness, or anything. He gave me his rate and just told me to let him know. A total of 2 hours passed since we made the original Emergency Call with no response so we texted Al and he replied ok and he was here at 732AM with an assistant and they did the job with an addition that we hadn't even thought of or considered and all still for the same quoted price. I could go into detail as to what happened what he did and etc but he's an HVAC guy suffice to say he knows what he is doing and we had A/C blowing in the house within 10 minutes of his arrival. I could not give a higher recommendation or commendation, kudos, or any other form of praise to this man and his company. His reviews I believe have been all accurate and he deserves the chance to work on any one project imo. I waited a year to see how everything turned out before giving a review of Al' HVAC just to make sure the new heat pump and condensing unit system were good. Let me say one thing- Al is the one of the brightest, competent and honest HVAC guys in the business. He gave us a great deal and drove all the way out from Pittsburgh to do the work. We couldn't find anyone locally here in Central PA that was willing to work with us and offer a reasonable price. We ended up having a contractor screw up something on the job Al had done and he was immediately able to troubleshoot and fix the problem even after some local HVAC guy came out and couldn't figure out the problem. We hired Al in the summer of 2015 to upgrade our furnace, install central air, and install a split unit on the 3rd floor of our house. The quote he gave us seemed too good to be true...and well, it was. Our furnace and central air are working great 2 years after install, which is the only reason I am giving a two-star review instead of a one-star review. After putting in a split unit which never worked, Al ghosted us (repeated calls and texts went unanswered) and we finally brought in another contractor recently. Turns out it was wired in wrong. We have a very complex 4 zone Carrier system and wanted to install a new WiFi thermostat, we tried to install one ourselves and ended up losing all power to the original thermostat. We were told to call a Carrier dealer due to the complexity of the system. We call Al's HVAC Services and spoke to Alex who stated he had a pretty good idea what the problem was. Alex and his team came out and was able to install the new WiFi thermostat and get everything working in both zones we needed. He was able to troubleshoot the systems zoning and get the thermostat to work with both zones we use. He was patience and never got frustrated we the complexity of our system. My furnace stopped working on a Sunday during a recent cold snap. Al called back quickly and got me up and working. He has always been dependable and I would HIGHLY recommend! He even checked in me later that day to make sure the unit was working. read more

I called Al when the AC in a rental property I own stopped working. When he went to have a look, I could not be there; my tenants met with him, got an estimate, and paid for the "repair" with their own money. The word "repair" is in quotation marks because what Al did was simply recharge the system with freon, although it was obvious that the system was leaking. He charged well over 300 dollars for this and disappeared. I had to reimburse my tenants and explain to them that they had fallen for the oldest trick in the HVAC book. In a week, the AC was back to blowing hot air, and Al was nowhere to be found. I am attaching the estimate Al provided, which shows black on white that he was aware that there may be a leak in the system. And yet he went ahead and charged it freon all the same! In short, if you like the aftertaste of being scammed, give Al a call. If not, I suggest you stay away. read more

Al's HVAC may install your AC/Furnace for cheaper than other contractors, but he does not clean up after himself and does not appear to be capable of properly starting up or troubleshooting an HVAC system. I hired Al to replace an existing HVAC system in my former home which I am now using as a rental. Al touts his ability to save you money because he doesn't have the overhead of other contractors. Unfortunately he doesn't have the experience or professionalism of other contractors either. He installed the system in half a day. He left ALL of the garbage including the old furnace and AC unit in my driveway. Best of all when the weather heated up about a week and half after installation, the AC unit was not effective at cooling down the house. There was even water leaking from the furnace. The entire unit froze up. Al was no where to be found once he cashed my check. He sent his assistant over to trouble shoot but when that didn't work he simply made an appointment with me via text and never showed up. From that day on he ghosted me. The HVAC contractor that I called when Al went dark had to defrost the unit, check for leaks, and ultimately diagnosed the problem as an improper start-up of the unit. In the long run it cost me more than I saved. read more

Went away for Memorial Day weekend and came home late Monday to find our A/C broke. I called Al and he was able to squeeze me in to his schedule and work after business hours to make sure our dogs had cool air for the next day. He was also fairly priced and gave me some options for my equipment and didn't recommend the most expensive one. You don't find that a lot these days. read more

Need to be aware of promises made and not kept. I had a part replaced but was quoted a much lower price than what was needed. Al was trying to get me to buy his 'maintenance contract'. So Al gave me a small maintenance agreement for free. Well nothing is for free ! I have being trying unsuccessfully to contact Al to schedule my AC checkup and to get the filters that I was promised. Al does not recall calls - trying for 3 months, and of course 'air filters' are no where Buyer be aware. read more

Absolutely the best around. My family and came home from vacation and found our A/C was blowing warm. I called AL and he came out the next day to take a look at it. The unit was 26 years old and the compressor failed. It was also a bit undersized for the house. We decided the best option was to replace the air conditioning unit with a new one that would cool the house efficiently and appropriately. AL and his team did a phenomenal job on the install and the did the job right. They treated my house like it was their own. This is why I prefer family owned businesses over big company's.
