Tom/William Wright also contacted the Bennington PD and tried to involve them, which they declined. This was over last Summer. Unbeknown to me, my mother went by and talked to Tom a few weeks ago. He shushed her out of the office away from staff and told her he "lost sleep" about this, and indicated that he was willing to talk with me directly. I reached out to Tom, and he responded by email in a calm and reasonable tone, or so I thought. I then promptly heard from his attorney, who not only demanded payment for ruining my Jeep but also submitted an invoice FOR OVER 12 THOUSAND DOLLARS for storage that I never was told about before, nor received any invoices for. He also ordered me not to talk or communicate with his client, Tom. I have asked the lawyer for documents and assurances the Jeep will not be sold (the lawyer said Tom claimed a lien on it) and now he has gone quiet and refuses to answer emails. I hope others can learn from my mistake of trusting this business. They have destroyed my jeep, refused to make it right, hired a lawyer when I tried to negotiate and go into mediation, and now are claiming storage fees nearly the value of the Jeep- probably to run up the cost and justify a lien sale/auction. They now are refusing to even respond to my request to assure that the vehicle will not be sold at auction.

Chris and Jennifer did an amazing job getting my car out of a water ditch on a late spring Saturday…read morenight. The accident happened in the afternoon. I got in contact with a service that had a flatbed truck. After seeing the photos, they said they were afraid that just pulling it out could damage the underside of the car and I needed someone with a wrecker. Did you ever have that awful feeling that you were really stuck somewhere, didn't know where to turn, it was a weekend and you'd probably be stranded until Monday? After some phone calls, tho, a very friendly lady said they could help me and to send photos. She called back shortly saying the truck they needed was on another job but they would be there later that night. And they were. Chris and Jennifer worked in the chilly dark, in the water, with the truck lights on the scene, setting up multiple attachment points, pulling out a bit, resetting the attachment points, and repeat. It took close to an hour and they got the car out with no damage. If you ever need emergency help in central-northern Columbia County, they're the go-to people.

Over $300 worth of groceries ruined in the trunk because they couldn't be bothered with walking us to our car to grab them. They came to me 5 minutes later and told me that there was a broken wire and they had to fail me. The light was still original, it was working last week, and that compartment had never been opened before. The wire was bright, shiny copper. It was clear it had just broken. They charged me $35, gave me a reject sticker, and told me they couldn't do anything. The kids doing my inspection were fresh out of highschool. Now I will have to pay probably $200 to get the wire fixed and I still don't have my inspection. Go somewhere with real mechanics and save yourself the potential problems.

I had the car towed to Carpinello's, having been told it was a family-run repair shop. I explained that I'd like to get it running if possible but by no means wanted to undertake expensive repairs. When they failed to get in touch with me in the course of the day, I went to the shop and stayed in the waiting room for several hours to make sure I was available to discuss the work, but I never got more than vague reports about what was up and never had the chance to speak with the mechanic directly. In fact they simply replaced parts until they found what was wrong, and presented me a bill nearly three times what I had set as a maximum. When I protested, the owner was rude, vulgar, and ultimately threatening--said he would yank the new parts out of the car and leave me push it off his property. With no idea what to do (I've never had so unpleasant an experience with a merchant) I called the local police. The officer I spoke with told me that the shop had a bad reputation and suggested another garage. Ultimately I signed the car over to them rather than pay the bill, which was more than what I had paid for the car. In a final indication of the ethics of the operation, the owner's wife said as I filled out the paperwork that the good news was they wouldn't have to disclose to a potential buyer that the car failed emissions because of the way they obtained it. I don't go around trashing people--I think this is the only bad on-line review I've ever written--but I've never been so badly treated by a business. This happened some time ago, but the management is still the same.
