He did have a battery terminal and as I pulled the money out of my pocket which was $25.00 asking how much he said $25.00 seemed like a lot but you never know. I looked up the part online and he charged me about 3 times more than I would have paid elsewhere. I feel that I got ripped off. I feel I was knowingly ripped of . But the true loss is his because I have a Passat that needs repair and I thought I might bring the vehicle there. So he lost that business ,and his showed himself to be dishonest.

Tom/William Wright also contacted the Bennington PD and tried to involve them, which they declined. This was over last Summer. Unbeknown to me, my mother went by and talked to Tom a few weeks ago. He shushed her out of the office away from staff and told her he "lost sleep" about this, and indicated that he was willing to talk with me directly. I reached out to Tom, and he responded by email in a calm and reasonable tone, or so I thought. I then promptly heard from his attorney, who not only demanded payment for ruining my Jeep but also submitted an invoice FOR OVER 12 THOUSAND DOLLARS for storage that I never was told about before, nor received any invoices for. He also ordered me not to talk or communicate with his client, Tom. I have asked the lawyer for documents and assurances the Jeep will not be sold (the lawyer said Tom claimed a lien on it) and now he has gone quiet and refuses to answer emails. I hope others can learn from my mistake of trusting this business. They have destroyed my jeep, refused to make it right, hired a lawyer when I tried to negotiate and go into mediation, and now are claiming storage fees nearly the value of the Jeep- probably to run up the cost and justify a lien sale/auction. They now are refusing to even respond to my request to assure that the vehicle will not be sold at auction.

The rubber you have to remove to tint underneath it was pulled away from the window in such a way it was rippled. When I asked for it to be fixed Big Boys Toys said they sublet the work out of the back of their shop and if I had a problem I should drive to Saratoga NY where the woman has her own place of business and take it up with her. What?! They were more then happy to take my money but gladly passed the buck when there was a problem. That's a lack of accountability and integrity....not a positive or successful business practice.

On11/26/2025, I had new set of front tires installed on my Ram Promaster Van by the Hoosic Store…read more The next day I noticed a broken piece of the lower trim, and getting down and examining it, I realized they had jacked the van up on the seam of the body, rather than on the frame, and the jack had chewed up both sides of the body. I stopped by and showed the damage to Eric, the foreman, and he acted surprised and told me he always jacked up these vans at that spot (!) At any rate, I went and got an estimate for the damage at F&R Bodyshop on Tamarac Rd, the estimate came to $625.32. Eric had told me to contact the Cambridge shop as that's where the owners were, ScoTT and Anne Helft. Anne told me to bring the van up to that location so they could see it. When I got there, she was not there , but one of her guys came out and looked at it, and told me he could fix it (!). I informed him, no, and finally got on Anne on the phone and told her I wanted a professional body shop to repair it, not a tire shop mechanic. She then informed me that their policy was that they would fix any damage they caused. I told her I'd contact DMV, which I did. They investigated, told me I can have my truck fixed anywhere, they should pay for it, that's the law. Upon 1st contact with the DMV, they stonewalled. The 2nd time two agents went there physically, the owners resisted until they were told that the next step is this all goes before a judge, and not only can he decide who has to pay, but if found guilty, he can render fines, or even close the doors for awhile. So, yesterday 03/12/2026, the agents dropped off theor check for $625.32. Hell of a way to run a business, if you ask me. I run a business, and I can't even imagine trying to duck out, stall, make up my own rules that violate the DMV's; IMHO, these aren't honest people, if something goes wrong you're gonna be in the same boat I was! Avoid this place, you have been warned .

However, I am a consumer that is being stretched by ever increasing prices from all sides. If I find a deal that will save me money and is good for me..so be it. I went to service and asked about how much tires would be for my motorcycle. He gave me a price and separated the labor from the cost of the tires. He told me this was the best price I would find. Nothing he said told me the policy is not to install tires not purchased at the dealer. I found out this fact when I called back to schedule an appointment to have the tires put on with an oil change and inspection. I would have paid them close to 200.00 in labor alone for this. He told me he would not install the tires since I did not get them at his store. I know they markup the tires. I'm not stupid. However, I also know that he gave up a sale and pissed off a customer that has been going there for the past ten years. If local businesses are going to bitch about not getting sales, then turn around and not take a sale on principal; they deserve what they get. Online products are here to stay. It is up to the businesses to adjust and charge more for installation or offer things that online store cannot. Don't penalize the customers for wanting their dollar to go further.
