The issue is that many local police stations no longer perform this basic service. At fingerprinting businesses, it is all now electronic known as "LiveScan". Finding somewhere you can have simple, old-fashioned ink fingerprints becomes a hassle without any sympathy. If you look up fingerprinting on the Chicago Police Department's website, it only offers one solution: 4770 S. Kedzie Avenue between 8:30 am - noon Monday thru Friday. Well that's nice if you live on the southwest side of Chicago, but what about the rest of us?! After much searching, loopholes, and misguidance, the Lincoln Square Police Department pointed me to the Northeastern Illinois University Police Department at 3701 W. Bryn Mawr. Follow the signs to "Campus Police." They perform ink fingerprinting for $10 a card, without a wait. Requirements for fingerprinting: -Completed fingerprint cards (if provided by requesting agency) -Government issued photo identification (i.e. driver's license, passport) -$10 cash or check for each completed fingerprint card -Signature on each card must be done at time of fingerprinting I recommend you call ahead to make sure there is an officer available before coming in. They are very friendly and will advise you to park in lot F for free parking without a required permit in any spot with a sign "Security Visitors".

I had jury duty today and was very nervous because I hadn't served in decades. Thankfully, the…read moreexperience was much better than I expected. Parking was easy--there's a FREE parking lot for jurors directly across from the courthouse, and there was plenty of parking available. You just need to show your ID before entering the lot. All of the security staff were friendly, kind, patient, and helpful. It was easy to move through the security process to the elevators, which took us to the floor where another staff member asked us to have our jury summons ready. Anyone who hadn't filled it out yet was kindly asked to step aside and complete it. We then entered a large room where two more staff members were waiting to check in jurors. We handed them our summons, answered two quick questions, and found a seat. The room was huge with plenty of seating--tables with chairs, rows of chairs, and even designated areas where you could talk on your cellphone if needed. Everyone was respectful of one another and gave each other plenty of personal space while choosing seats. Another staff member welcomed us and showed us a video explaining what to expect. She also called jurors when they were needed in a courtroom. We had a lunch break from noon to 1:30. The courthouse has vending machines with lunch items, a rotating restaurant on the third floor (I think), and there was even a food truck parked outside. At the end of the day, we left in groups using the elevators. The entire process was very organized, with staff members guiding us every step of the way. Once we reached the ground floor, one final staff member lined us up, distributed our checks for jury service, and thanked us for serving. The entire staff was wonderful and made what could have been a very stressful experience much more manageable. The courthouse was also exceptionally clean--I even saw someone cleaning the restrooms during the late morning. And for anyone wondering, the building was well air-conditioned!
