This place infuriated me. The doctor completely tried scamming. 700 dollars for a blood test and urine test for a uti after asking for just the medicine the unprofessional shitty doctor kept telling us we need a test etc. He gave my cat a shot without even telling me, buried his head in a blanket in his crate, and completely ignored the insurance we had for him. Please don't ever take you animal here, they're awful. The lady at the front desk was the only good person here the doctor is the worst. read more

We recently adopted our dog and decided to come here since it was closer to our house and had an open appointment within our 10 days. I had to let my sister go into the appointment with our dog alone for the first half since I was in a meeting conference call. And then I get asked to come in to review for treatment. SO now that I'm home I learned this. They would have most likely let my sister sign off on my dog's treatment if it weren't for my sister asking me to be there. I'm the official owner on paper and the one who signed the vet papers and we did not sign my sister.... yet they let her almost authorize everything. This is problematic. Next, he cornered us into treatment. He scared my sister saying that if we didn't treat the kennel cough she would develop pneumonia and then that is untreatable. So you know what, we were scared! We just looked at each other and said yes and agree to the 285 treatment. And now I'm home and I realized he never once broke down each price for me. Yet I called back to complain and Marisol who was working front desk and assisting in the administering of the shots said he did. But my sister was there too and she rememhe never broke down the cost with me. He only broke it down with her and she wasn't the one signing off on anything. Our experience is very similar to the first visit reviews from below. And we have a follow up next week and I'm so anxious now. After this follow up we will no longer come here. As a good doctor, your heart and compassion should be fore the animals and the owners, not their money and your business. Also we got charged $35 for antibiotics and when I finally learned I could have got them from another pharm for $8 i was really disappointed. I just hope my dog heals and that I didn't pay 285 for nothing. Big learning lesson for this first time pet owner. Never letting anyon scheme me into anything anymore because I'm afraid for my dog's health. Would give this place 0 stars if possible. Staff is definitely not friendly what so ever. read more

Not the most affordable place but the staff is great! Our dog had a swollen face from a tooth infection and the Dr. made it very clear that he needed to do the surgery immediately. I didn't want to leave my dog alone there over night and he let me come back before closing to pick him up. He's very caring and understanding of the animals. Downfall was that after dropping $800 for the surgery and tooth extraction they couldn't provide me with a free cone (asked $20). Good thing I kept one from his last surgery. I've been taking my 9 year old Cockapoo to Dr. Sran since she's been a puppy. In fact, he's been the only vet that I've taken her to with the exception of specialists, of whom he referred me to. I feel like he's always honest and has my fur baby's best at heart. It is apparent that his staff loves the animals that they work with and my Jazzi is comfortable there. His hours of operation make it easier to get an appointment, since he's open until 9pm during the week and for the morning on Saturdays. Financially, he's not the least expensive place but he's the only doctor at his practice and he does good, thorough work. He did an amazing job with removing my baby's eyes when they were diseased and causing her so much pain. I trust him with my animals life. I definitely recommend him and Alta! read more

Dr. Sran has been our vet for over 20 years and seen us through 7 dogs. He is TOTALLY honest and his staff are wonderful. We lost our beloved Yorkie just before Christmas and we are currently looking for a new "fur baby" who will be cared for Dr. Sran. read more

Went in just to get my dog shots, walked out with blood tests, heartworm tests, and a bunch of other things totaling $600. I can't read the receipt because of the handwriting, and neither could the place where I took to get my dog for boarding. The problem is, while nice and knowledgeable, the "upselling" of services is ridiculous. Phrases like "we need to do this" are common and be prepared for the guilt if you say no. But because we love our animals, really difficult to say no, and the vet knows it. Sadly I won't go back because getting three shots shouldn't turn into a $600 bill that they ask for payment before you leave. read more

We were visiting in town & within 5 minutes of stopping the car to let our dog out, he started sneezing violently non-stop nearly hitting his head against the pavement. It was a Friday early evening. We called several vets in the area and all said they had no openings or no walk-in's. Alta Animal Hospital immediately took us in. The office staff and Dr. Sran were so professional and pleasant and calmed us down being out of towners and all. He quickly diagnosed our pet with inhaling a Foxtail. He even diagnosed my dog with a rare ailment (I can't remember how to spell it) when another vet had seen my dog twice and dismissed it as something minor. He knows his stuff. Dr. Sran and his team are VERY caring people. I have been their client for over 9 years and can't tell you how extremely happy I am with him and his team. We have five pets and every time we have brought them in for an issue Dr. Sran is on top of it. We rescued a dog a few months ago and knew nothing about her. Wasn't microchipped and no one claimed her on any postings we had. She's lovely so we kept her. She's very energetic, but last week I noticed she had no motivation and wasn't eating very well. I began to panic when she began to shake a lot. I asked a friend for recommendations and she gave me this place. I was thankful they were able to get us booked within a 2 hours, I explained to the nurse that we had no knowledge of her medical history. I was afraid they were going to get annoyed or frustrated, but rather they were quite the opposite. So understanding and thanked us for taking her in when no one did. We met Dr. Sran who introduced everyone in the room (mind you there was 4 of us in the room and he allowed it even when I said some of us could step out). He did a full examination on our dog and explained everything he was feeling/looking for. It was such a pleasant experience and he could tell I was so nervous, but made sure we all understood. He gave us a breakdown of everything financially. At first it was out of my price range, so he broke it down to the main necessities of what we should do. I thank him from of the bottom of my heart for helping my dog, Pepper! She was very dehydrated and had an injured spine. Decided to give this place a shot because it was time for my dog's annual exam. I had been taking him somewhere else, but didn't like the fact that each time we visited, he got a different vet. I had called this place a couple months ago with some questions, and the receptionist made me feel very comfortable. I also like the fact that there is only one Dr. practicing out of this office. My visit was quick and easy. Dr. Sran explained everything to me, and answered all of my questions. My dog was a little nervous, but the techs made him feel very comfortable during his exam. read more

I wasn't going to write a review but was going to just walk away and never look back at this place. BUT after reading the other reviews I need to weigh in to make sure no one else is taken advantage of by these people. My first red flag should have been when the receptionist took us in the back to weigh and kept pulling on the scale so that the weight would go up. My dog weighs 53 pounds and she tried to tell me she was 72. She had gotten her shots 2 weeks prior and was weighed on a digital scale. I explained this to her and she tried to play off that my dog must really like treats. If a dog gains 20 pounds in 2 weeks we have a problem. We were here for a spay because of the appointment date and time. My dog has skin allergies, I brought her records with me and told the receptionist that she was already being treated for them and what the treatment was. The quote was the $195 over the phone. Boy did the bill start going up....They added an office charge, a stool sample, a blood test and then she said that she was going to have the doctor just look at her skin and she if he has any other recommendations - another $45.....what was the $45 office charge for? $65 for a heartworm test - this is usually $20 to $25 any other place. After a few hours I receive a call that the procedure is over and that he had taken the liberty of doing skin scrapings - $35 and confirmed what we were already being treated for. I told him that she had already had this done and that she was on treatment and that I had told his receptionist all this. He then starts telling me that what we had been doing was not working and he was going to send out the scrapings and then detailed another $200 charge but said I didn't have to pay for the $35 scraping fee since he did it on his own. I left with my dog after $602 had been added to my $195 quote. What a rip off. I explained that we foster and pay for all the spays and neuters to save the Rescues money and that they should be ashamed marking bills up that this and was told by the vet that they did so much more than just spay my dog ---- Yes but I brought her to you for just a spay! read more

Dr Sran is great with my dogs, after moving to Fresno we were having a hard time finding available vet. The hours for Alta are great for busy schedules because they take late appointments. If your animals are having a issue seems like when I call I can usually get in same day. The price is a little much but if took time off work to take them between 9-5 it would cost me more. NO STARS IF THAT WAS AN OPTION. I'm absolutely DISGUSTED by this place but more so the workers there, the vet himself and Marisol who worked the front desk, today. Upon arrival she was very short with words and didn't help accommodate us as first time vet patients and dog owners. When we got into our examination room I felt like they failed us as customers because they DID NOT fully examine my dog as I expected. They were quick to diagnose my dog's kennel cough issue and the next thing I knew the vet was back with numbers and a price of $285. He failed to break down what we were going to pay and everything felt forced upon as if options weren't available. On paper my sister has authority over the dog and is the only one legalized to sign off any papers so I asked if she could come in the room before starting anything because I did not want to do anything that was unnecessary. As she walked in the vet said it's going to be $285 for the treatment WITHOUT explaining to her what he was charging us for. I questioned about the payment because obviously that is a lot of money to just willingly pay upfront and he should have given us options for the medicine he was going to prescribe our dog but instead offered this piece "we need to take action NOW" as if my dog was going to die tomorrow. He mentioned that kennel cough could lead to pneumonia and if it does get to that point there IS NO TREATMENT for it. They gave our dog a shot to suppress her kennel cough and now she's sleepy. These individuals and so called "animal carers" have no empathy for pet owners and pets themselves, they have a drive for money and money only. Save your time, your pet, and your money. If you want options this is not the place to go to. It's their way or no way. read more

Receptionist is rude, unorganized, can't read, and can't do basic math. The doctor on the other hand is unorganized, doesn't read charts, shows up sick and incoherent. The doc will also shoot your dog up with what he deems necessary even though he's tried it once and we both agreed it wasn't necessary. After complaining about something I didn't authorize he offered a discount on the drug we agreed didn't work the first time around so why would we do it again when its $175 a shot then he admits "my bad I didn't read the chart yet." They booked me for an appointment but didn't put it in their books luckily I still had the appointment card and showed it to them and thats when they honored the appointment. If you're thinking about taking any pet here I would advise you to think twice and call around before you take your pet to this joke of a clinic. If you want them to question your character and how deep your pocket is then this is your place if you don't do what they say they will tell you how bad you are as a pet owner. This guy should have has credentials pulled. Ill second the review about him not even examining your pet and just throwing out prices so if you do go here be stern and make sure he actually examines your pet before throwing prices out. read more

No stars. Terrible experience when I took my dog after he'd been attacked by coyotes. Before even putting him in the exam room I was told it would cost $65 for the exam. After 5 minutes with my dog I was told I needed to put down a $2000 deposit. This would nt include surgical repairs of his injuries. When I said I didn't have it I called my parents, when they didn't have it I was pressed to apply for Care Credit. I have no credit history and had been denied prior for dental work. Then he said $1000, I said I couldn't. The vet was visibly pissed off and quit talking to me. His nurse then kept coming back and forth with an amount, asking if I had friends or other family I could het it from. It was nothing short f badgering, hurtful, and upped the distress I was already feeling. My dog was in very bad shape. I had no other option than to put him down. Again I could tell the doctor was pissed. It was horrible horrible horrible. Do not take your pet here, EVER! read more

We have going to Alta Animal Hospital for over 20 yrs. However it is over!!! We recently aqquired a puppy and talked my daughter and son in law to use this hospital for their puppy as well. It has been some what questionable, as the prices have been very expensive. We wanted to spay and neuter the dogs and they told me for spaying it would be 165.00 total. My husband took her over today at 9:00 AM as requested the night before, 45 minutes later they said ok lets review what we're doing and costs. The bill was going to be $545.00. They tacked on a office visit, 6month check up, heart worm, booster vacs,tick and flea and anesthesia, After I had called ahead of time to make sure of the cost. Needless to say we will no longer recommend the clinic. read more

My poor baby was given too high of a dose of Trifexis from her regular vet she was terribly sick. I thought that she was going to have a seizure her eyes were rolling back and she was having muscle tremors.My regular vet said it was just an upset stomach ( don't know where she got that from since she only vomited once and had no other signs of an upset stomach). As the day went on she got worse rather than better I decided to get a second opinion and go and see Dr. Sran since he was open late. He immediately sprang into action and knew exactly what to do after a very thorough examination. She looked better right away and continued to improve. I'd hate to think what could've happened if I had just treated it as an "upset stomach". He's a great doctor and his staff is very friendly. He even called the next day to check on Isabella. I could tell he was genuinely concerned about her well being. I'm so glad I found this place! I will never go back to my other vet. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!!! It is very unfortunate because Dr. Sran is wonderful. He is caring and straight forward but due to KRISTA who works his "front desk" we will never bring our animals here again! After our puppy contracting Parvo we decided to take her to Alta Animal Hospital because it is very close to our home. Dr. Sran and Sarah are amazing. They took great care of our baby girl but about 2 days into our puppy's stay for treatment Krista decided to call me at 12:45pm and said very unprofessionally and rudely that I had exactly 15 minutes to come up with an additional $500. Back story: we were told for all treatment the total would be no more than $1500 and most likely it would only be $1000. So this day she calls and says I'm leaving at 1pm, you have 15 minutes to make a $500 payment. I simply said ok well if I cannot do that do I just need to come pick up my dog? She again, very rudely says NO. We will not release your animal until it's paid, so in a nutshell she tells me we cannot have our dog back and she will keep her there with no further treatment (basically to die) Parvo is deadly. When I asked what the additional $500 was for she proceeded to tell me it was for an additional treatment that was already given to our puppy without our authorization!!! Who treats someone's pet without obtaining their authorization?!?! Then gives them 15 minutes to pay! Fast forward 6 days, we pick up our puppy. We pay our final balance and are done. Or so we thought. Care credit contacted us stating there were 2 charges made 60 seconds apart for the same amount from Alta Animal Hospital on the day we picked up our sweet girl. By the way, when the final payment was taken by Krista, she said herself her credit card terminal was acting up and "running slow". So we assumed it was a mistake because their terminal wasn't functioning correctly and it would be reversed without hassle. We soon learned nothing with Krista is without hassle. When contacted about the mistake, Krista became very defensive and angry about the possibility of her making a mistake. Repeatedly she said she did not run our card twice and she knows for sure! Care credit said 2 charges were definitely made. So today I just received a call from Krista, she tells me that they will not be seeing our animals again unless we pay cash because "we" caused problems for her. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism in my life. It's sad because we loved how Dr. Sran treated us and our baby. Sarah also, she cared for our baby over the weekend and on Christmas. KRISTA you are the reason we will never come back there and I hope Dr. Sran sees how many clients he will be losing because of your poor judgement and attitude. We are from this town and work in industries with a lot of people who are pet owners, Alta will NEVER be recommended by us or our family and friends! Anyone reading this please DO NOT use this place! Save yourself the trouble. There are plenty of other places with wonderful people who will care for your pets! read more

Excellent service! Dr. Sran is amazing, he is understanding, caring, and kind. I brought my cat here on the brink of death, not being able to afford necessary treatment, I was in a panick. Although I could not afford the proper hospitalization that she needed, Dr. Sran helped me to figure out some things I could do at home to help increase her chances of survival. I was given excellent advice. I really appreciate it! Also, Christa, is so sweet and always answers the phone with a smile (you can hear it in her voice), and she's ready to help! I've had to call her a few times and she never seems bothered! Although, I'm still nursing my cat back to health not knowing if she'll pull through, I am so happy that I wasn't just told something like, well she's gonna die, sorry. They have done everything in their power to help me. And if my cat pulls through I owe it to this facility! It's hard to find a human doctor that actually cares now a days, so it's awesome to see how there are still amazing people out there! read more

Dr Sran has been amazing, caring and kind not only to my Cooper but to myself and my family! My 7 year old jack Russell has been sick for over 2 months. 3 tumors removed, amputated toe because the tumor was malignant and pneumonia! Dr just called to let me know the cancer did not spread. Best new in months!!! Poor little guy has been through hell and finally on the road to recovery. The dr and his staff have gone above and beyond to save my little mans life. I went for a cat check-up and regular shots, and it was a very positive experience overall. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They said a test result would take ten minutes, and ten minutes later, there they were. My regular doctor's office can't do that. read more

Very reasonably priced, staff is nice, AND the doctor always calls you back!! Most pet hospitals the doctors don't return calls half the time, but at this place, the doctor does call back and does actually care. They also have accommodating hours. I would recommended this place. read more

Brought my cat here because their hours worked better for my schedule and he had tapeworms so I wanted to get that figured out quickly. They scheduled me that day and I was pleased at first. They put him on Frontline, which THEY APPLIED FOR ME. It was expensive, but the vet didn't charge me for the general exam fee or for clipping my cat's nails. They told me I needed to come back in two weeks for the second deworming vaccination, and scheduled me. I noticed online and at Target that Frontline goes for about 40$, and they charged me twice that, there was the first red flag. About a week later, I noticed there were still fleas on my cat, so the Frontline didn't work which was probably because the technician didn't place it on his back correctly. When I went back in earlier this week for the second vaccination, I told the receptionist this and she asked when I put Frontline on and I told her, "Uh, you guys did for me when I was in here two weeks ago...and I gave my cat a flea bath and now they're gone. I just wanted to let you know." And the receptionist looked at the calendar and said, "I know it may not seem like it's killing him but you can't apply Frontline that soon again." I DIDN'T SAY THAT DID I? I said that it didn't work after you guys put it on so I had to use flea shampoo. The receptionist is had no compassion and is very dumb when it comes to certain things. Also, I could hear the whole conversation in the room next to my exam room about putting a dog or cat down very clearly, they should put them in a different room away from the other exam rooms. Overall, if you can go to a different vet, do it! This one sucks and rips you off read more

I took my dog to Alta back in September because my dog was red all over and vomiting. We did extensive research and thought it was allergies and the doctor confirmed that it was. After the doctor prescribed some medication my dog was still having symptoms of allergies. I took him back a couple months later because the vomiting started back up and his skin was very bad. The doctor changed his medication and gave him fluids. The next day it was worse and so we took him back. The doctor was out of town,but called me and let me know what his vet tech would do to help my dog. He was given a shot to stop the vomiting but it continued. They wanted me to bring him back again the next day. I guess I should have learned my lesson,but other vets weren't going to take him till weeks later. We went in and were told to just wait for the doctor to come back on Monday and we could run tests. They gave him more fluids.They also said that they were worried about him,but that it would be okay till the doctor came back. I decided that I had enough. I took him to the ER and they were not able to read any of the records from Alta and were very disappointed in how this situation was handled. Alta just kept on taking more and more money from me. I spent over $600 in three days for a vet tech. The employees are sweet. This situation was way above their heads and they should have said something. Instead they just took my money and didn't advise me how serious my dogs situation was. Thank God I took my dog to the ER they said that he would have died if I hadn't. This was also confirmed by my vet back home on the coast. So if your dog needs anything besides a vaccination then I would take them elsewhere. I even told the doctor how disappointed I was in his service.He didn't seem to care much. So I'll be taking my dog somewhere else. The one star is because I had to leave at least one. read more
