We've been going to Alta well over 20 years, with all three of our dogs. We wouldn't go anywhere else! Our current furbaby is a Maltipoo. Kody was having so many dermatological issues. It was so heartbreaking to see him suffer. Dr. Pantone was able to diagnose Kody with a food allergy....to meat. She's our hero! Changing to a vegetarian food has been life changing for Kody! I also have to give a shout to our favorite tech Axel. He's got the BEST personality and he's so great with Kody. He takes care of Kody when he needs his ears plucked, nails trimmed and anal glands expressed. In closing, I just want to say EVERYONE at Alta is AMAZING! Very rude front desk employees. I called because my dog got into some ibuprofen, and was talked down to and literally had my words picked apart on the phone. The young lady said she would speak to one of the doctors to reiterate the symptoms, but didn't even let me finish explaining what was going on before putting me on hold. She then came back on the line and said I need to call a poison control hotline, I was just looking to bring him in to get looked at and receive a recommendation on what to do next. She had a very weird attitude and said she doesn't know what I mean by "recommendation", and then mentioned they could do bloodwork. Is that not a recommendation that could help? This is the first time this happened with any of my pups, so I was genuinely just looking for support on how to get him the help he needs. read more

They diagnosed my cat Neeko with a rotting tooth , they recommend we remove the tooth and said if they did the procedure and found more bad teeth they would extract .. they gave us a quote and we agreed .. after the procedure my 4 year old tabby is doing great looks like he's eating much more and feeling better than ever . The short. Price is middle of the road not the worst. They are much more up to date and have offered multiple options that were not told to me by old be for both congestive heart failure and hip dysplasia. I transferred all 3 dogs here. Longer: Dr Cassie has been a miracle worker. I went from having the conversation with myself about euthanasia for my dog with congestive heart failure, to taking her swimming and hiking and her playing with an 8 month old puppy all day. She identified and performed a procedure her old vet didn't identify or do. She noticed a medication duchess wasn't on. When I told her that she threw it up every time and old vet said we had to go without it, dr Cassie looked oddly and said "oh, there is probably something in the name brand she doesn't tolerate, we will send it to a compounding pharmacy and get it to her in a different form." She has tolerated this very well and it was half the price of the name brand. I made sure to take duchess back in to visit so she could see the difference she made. Dr. Cassie didn't just save my dog. She returned a high quality of life to her. Eventually the meds won't work but I have already gotten months I wouldn't have otherwise. She has done similar, with my 9 yr old husky shepherd with hip dysplasia. Lana has been on daily anti inflammatory her whole life. I asked if there were alternatives and she has recommended two. We did the first and are ending anti inflammatories today to see how she is doing. Anyway, can't recommend enough. Go here. read more

Dishonest company with a lot of miscommunication. My first visit they overcharged me for medications I never purchased. Second visit was to have a procedure done on my dog. They did not complete it as discussed. When I brought it to their attention their response was, "Sorry, there's nothing that we can do." So now I will have to put my dog and wallet through the stress of a second procedure. They just want to scam you for more money. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone if you want things done right the first time. read more

We had to take my cat into just do an update to get a script filled. the appt. was originally scheduled with a tech. we received a call and was told that the tech could not do the appt. and had to see the vet. I asked was there anything we need to do or bring for the appt. she said no. we get there and then we were told that we should have brought in a fecal sample. They were gong to do a urine test, but was told the balder was too small to do the test. So we were told we had to bring the fecal sample in and also get urine from our cat; we have two cats so this was going to be a challenge. We were told to go buy an additional cat box for the one cat and use the beads they gave us and collect our own sample. So the only thing they did was a rabies shot and blood work. They charged us for all the test. even though they were not done. We were told if we don't bring in the samples with in four weeks we would be charged again. We were billed $600.00 . I looked up the average price of a fecal test.. even though they did not run the test. They are more than 200% higher than most vets. This group is off the hook expensive, and the care is not commensurate. I would never go here again. read more

After seeing the reviews posted I felt obligated to provide my thoughts on this establishment. It truly upsets me to see the bad reviews because I have had such kindness and positivity over the last 5 years with my rescue hound Elliot. We have attended this location for a multitude of issues such as: -pancreatitis flare ups -random questions I have. They call me or give me to a vet right away to discuss any concerns I have prior to coming in -wounds from sticks or outdoor activities -allergies -eye issues -tumor testing, soon removal. -yearly shots, and check ups -xrays & elbow dysphasia -dehydration *(please note my dog was drinking water, but as we hike, mtn bike, longboard, beach, explore it was just too hot of a summer for both of us. I do not under-provide! I love my pup!) -weird poop issues Recently my pup was attacked by my now ex boyfriends dog and plan to call in the am right away to get him in. They always have time, and a slot to get me in. The head vet usually sees me and is amazing and kind. I have a small kitten I've been bringing here who was so malnourished after being at the humane society. This place gave me everything and did everything to get her on track as well. Price wise they seem middle of the road in my eyes, I've talked to people who go all over and the prices seem average but animals are expensive...so I'll always wish they were cheaper! My ONLY bad experience was with a substitute vet that was not a usual staff, scared me about my dogs growth and told me it was cancer. Once I told the head vet what happened she told me he was not welcomed back and apologized for the upset visit. They reexamined Elliot, tested the growth and discussed what the results were and my options. Turns out it's just a growth and with removal will be fine. I realize not everywhere will be perfect, that animals are complex and difficult to treat. Sometimes the simple routes are better. But other times yes we need help and these people have done a great job for me so far. I do recommend them greatly. These are animals and sometimes we forget how they function vs how we function. Getting an appointment is pretty effortless, but the availability is usually limited. The vet techs are pretty gentle with the animals and seem knowledgeable when you ask them questions. The facility is reasonably clean but could definitely use some improvement... the whole place smells like urine. read more

When we first got our dog we started going here off of a recommendation of some friends. Lou, our dog, is almost 6 years old and we have been going here for 6 years now. When our dog was a puppy and got into mischief the vets have always been helping and accommodating as far as talking to me on the phone, taking emergency appointments, and making sure I always felt comfortable with whatever treatments or procedures my dog has needed. The staff is always friendly and refer to me as "Lou's mom". I've recommended this place to many of my friends for their pets. It helps me to know that one of the main vets that we see has two dogs who are the same breed as mine, so she was able to give us some great tips about exercise, care, and grooming. read more

Recently they started more online services - which I absolutely appreciate - such as online pet profiles with vaccine information, prescriptions, appointment reminders and you can even schedule your appointment online with specific veterinarians. Unfortunately misdiagnosed my puppy a couple years ago but once I went to another vet they found it right away from the same X-rays they looked at but unfortunately it was too late :( a friend also used to go here but felt extremely uncomfortable because they commented on how reactive her dog is (she is aware of this and always takes proper procedure) but felt they were rude to here because of it. I used Alta View for my dog for 10 years. They were always very caring and knowledgeable. They took very good care of my dog every time we took him there. When my dog suddenly passed, I didn't find him until I got home from work and about 5 minutes before they were going to close. I didn't know what to do. I called them and they kept the clinic open after their normal business hours until we got there. They took him in, gave us time to say goodbye, took care of everything and were extremely compassionate. I think they also are very reasonably priced compared to other vets in the area. I would certainly use this vet again. read more

When you choose a vet, you hope that the vet is honest and professional. In the times of COVID, when you cannot meet your vet or even walk into the lobby, you are giving them your baby and the utmost trust they will act accordingly and do what they need. I kept coming back to this vet, even from out of town, because that's what I thought we had. The last two visits here proved me wrong, left a horrible taste in my mouth and has made a joke of the profession. I have never lost so much trust and respect for the profession due to Alta View Vet. They will promise you things, then go back on that promise. They will make you wait longer than normal (40 minutes) for a two minute shot appointment. They will not be able to handle your dog appropriately when you have told them from day one that other dogs make your dog anxious due to their horrible rescue past. My dog's tooth caught the leg of a vet tech while she was barking during boarding, and they reported this as a bite. While this is obviously a traumatic event for all, and I understand why they had to report it, the phone call I received was distasteful, negative, and downright rude. They told us we're never allowed back, they dosed my dog in pain medication and sedatives. During this phone call, they told me she felt anxious earlier in the day, but never called earlier in the day to report this behavior and ask if there was anything they could do to ease her anxiety. I have asked for video of what happened, since all this prompted my dog to be under quarantine and now have a bite mark against her. I was told they would text the video, but I have received nothing. No communication. They told us they would fax over the paperwork to the Greenfield health department (on multiple occasions!), but at the end when we asked if they did, they pointed to across the street and told us no they won't do it, we should just leave our dog in the car and go in ourselves. WHAT kind of vet is this? Who treats their customers this way? Are your vet techs so untrained they cannot handle a barking dog? I am so glad to never go back to this vet and I will fully recommend Dr. Work at Greenfield Vet Clinic, who I truly apologize profusely for not going back to and choosing Alta View over him. He was knowledgeable, told you all about FDA grades on food, gave you great tidbits about the breed you're bringing in, and make sure he was pleasant and had a great bedside manner, unlike everyone at Alta View Vet. read more

I've only given one star because that's my only option. They deserve not one star. Do NOT take your pet here. My baby was very sick and they treated her like a euthanization case, refused to treat her pain, refused to treat her dehydration and refused to treat her vomiting. They insisted she ingested antifreeze when clearly if the vet knew anything, her urine had no crystals. I'm assuming she never looked at her test results or should would never have said anything so stupid. She told me IV FLUIDS Would be a waste of my money at his point and they would give me a quote for euthanization and I should take my pup home, snuggle her, take pictures with her and bring her back when I was ready. We decided to take her somewhere else that night because the treatment at Alta view seemed odd. Why weren't they giving my dog the proper diagnostics? Sure enough. The vet we went to was flabbergasted that they did not do anything and started iv fluids and everything possible. Turns out my baby had had pancreatitis which made her really sick and caused kidney failure and if they would have done the proper diagnostics they would have known and not guessed. Pancreatitis is treated with Iv Drips, pain management and antibitotics. Again, do not take your pet here. They have no compassion and act like your wasting their time. The front desk person stated that it would be a little wait before we got to see the dog at our lost appointment because "you know we fit you into the schedule". This place is a JOKE. I brought my dog in there for 5 days in a row so they could give her sub q fluids when she should have been getting iv fluids. Very incompetent! I've been a client with Alta View over the past 25+ years with all my cats. I'm writing this review because on 5/26/15, we noticed a sore on my cat that wasn't evident the night before, therefore, whatever it was progressed rather quickly. My husband called at 11:15am to arrange for an appt, however, we couldn't bring him in until Thursday 5/28. I really thought it was a big concern so I contacted them back at around 12:30pm and asked if there was some way to see my cat that day. The receptionist said she would have to talk to the vet and give us a call back. I got home from work at 4:00pm and still there was no phone call back from the clinic. At this time the sore progressed to an abscess about 5-6 in diameter in size. It was red and yellow, obviously showing the sign of infection. The clinic finally called at around 4:30 and said they couldn't get him in so in the meantime, buy an E collar so he doesn't continue to bother it. I called them back within 10 mins pleading for them to let us come in. I explained that within a 4 hr time frame, the sore worsened severely. I explained the color and size, how it definitely had fluid built up. The receptionist asked me if it had a smell, which no it didn't but clearly was infected. She then said I'm sorry, get an E collar so that he doesn't continue to irritate it and we will see him on Thursday. I told her I will obviously have to take him elsewhere since you refuse to see him as an urgent situation. She again apologized. We took my cat to Advanced Animal Hospital, who graciously got us in for an appt the next morning, which was OK with me since it was now 5:30pm and too late in the evening. I knew he was going to be OK since he wasn't lethargic and was still eating and drinking. I also didn't want to pay the high cost of an emergency service unless he turned for the worse. So fortunately he was OK through the night, however, in the morning the abscess was now pretty much black in color and very warm to the touch. He made it into the vet on the morning of 5/27, in which the vet took one look at it and couldn't believe that Alta View wouldn't see him as an urgent situation. She barely touched the abscess and it broke open. You can imagine what came out of this abscess plus the smell in which the receptionist from Alta View asked about, was definitely present. They had to put him under, lacerate it, clean it out, debride the dead skin and place stitches. This was a pretty severe infection that could have lead to something unimaginable if we waited another day to take him to Alta View. He was sent home with pain meds and antibiotics for the next two weeks. We will need to return for the stitches to be removed. I can't thank Advanced Animal Hospital enough for helping us out. So bottom line, I've been a client for a long time. I would have thought they set aside time to allow for urgent/emergent situations. There has been a few other incidents with Alta View that I considered going else where over, one being that my favorite vet that treated my cats for years left and the clinic didn't feel the need to share that with me until I asked for her in particular because I wasn't happy with the current vet that kept seeing my cat. She wasn't specialized in treating cats with diabetes and once prescribed too much insulin for my cat. My favorite vet caught it and had to confront her about it. After my favorite vet left, i had no choice to see whoever was available because my cat was really sick. Needless to say, due to the lack of knowledge of the vet, I ended up having to put my cat to sleep because she developed a tumor that was not detected in previous exams. I could share a few other issues if your interested, message me. The quality of this clinic has diminished and I'm sorry I didn't leave a long time ago. The fact that I never took my 2 other cats there after my one was put to sleep is because of the lack of trust and faith that they would provide adequate treatment. But when my cat developed the sore this week, I thought that since the clinic merged with another clinic, quality of care might have improved. I was obviously wrong! read more

Alta View has been a great experience. We are treated well on the phone, setting up an appointment is quick and easy. They know who our dog is when we call. The boarding has also been a good experience. They provide blanket and food for your pet/dog if you would like. They truly love animals and I believe the guy vet is named Nate - he is so kind with our dog. read more

The doctors here are very capable, gentle, and have always given my kitty (who has a pretty complicated medical history) excellent care. This is one great place. One of the best qualities of this vet clinic is its doctors! As it should be i say! The doctor I see is one of the most caring and in tune vets I have ever met. Needless to say this woman listens and chats with me about my pet and actually remembers me on my return visit! She gives my pet true care and concern. Honestly my vet is more caring and concerned about my pets well being then my own MD is with me and mine! All the doctors on staff at Alta View are great!
