I certainly was not going to have him repair it. I've had gold items repaired for much less. I was in Stratford and saw MJs, I figured I would get a price on the repair. They were very friendly and accommodating. I expected that I would have been given an estimate that was equivalent to the prior jeweler (I assumed he was being HONEST with me). They took one look at the bracelet and said it would cost $35 and they would only need two days. The repair was pretty extensive; the clasp and the link were worn and needed to be seemed and rebuilt structurally. That price brought a huge smile to my face. I was so happy there are some honest people still out there, that was so reassuring, (Obviously. I was pretty upset with the prior Jewler, he simply was stealing my money). The repair was amazing and showed a high level of skill and craftsmanship. It literally looked brand new. Obviously, don't waste your time and money with any other jewelers. Three people looked at the rings and quoted me $150, and said I could wait until June as it would only take a week. In June, I brought them back and they said, sure, no problem. I got a call later that day saying, they "didn't realize" the rings were platinum and that it would actually be $300. I went back in and said since it was their error that they should honor the price. They were very defensive, saying, well mistakes happen. This is literally their job to know jewelry. Three people saw them and not one thought it might be platinum? The taller man with the glasses said they can't be expected to do it for $150, they would lose money, but they had someone else who could do it for that amount. Ok, fine. Three weeks later, ON MY WEDDING DAY, literally hours after my husband put it on my finger, my wedding band splits in 2. I was devastated. I brought it back the next day, and instead of being apologetic, the same tall man said defensively, well your ring is thin. Seriously??! It's a standard, normal wedding band. He took it and said, I'll have it by Thursday. Again, no real apology by anyone, including the woman or the owner, who were both there. It's appalling. Today is Friday and still no ring. These people do not know what they're doing, and worse, they are plain rude. Stay away if you value your jewelry. UPDATE: The other ring, my custom platinum engagement ring, also broke in half. I will be attempting to collect the money I paid initially, as they have ruined both my wedding band and ring within 2 months. I'm heartbroken.

My beloved aunt died in 2020 and I inherited all of her jewelry, including some really unique charms she collected in her travels through Europe and Asia in the 1960's. N Karpel made them into 2 necklaces (see photos) for me, and I get TONS of compliments on both! The larger necklace photo could've used a better neckline for the shot, but it's a real show-stopper. N Karpel has also designed all of my wedding jewelry. I inherited 3 diamonds and N Karpel made the ring on the left based on my description of what I wanted, and also designed the ring on the right based on my now-husband's drawing. They've been really great at communicating all the way through the process, have sent photos mid-design, and have been up front about pricing. Highly recommended!

We have visited several times in the past 2 months, and the staff has been rude, impolite, and difficult to work with. Gone are the days of Peter walking to the storefront to pleasantly greet us. Our recent experiences have included miscommunication, conflicting answers, delayed orders, and accusatory staff members. Was it the passing of Peter that caused this quick downturn? A shift in management? There's no way to know, but I hope the store realigns itself with the values of their prior years. Unfortunately, we've lost trust in this business and won't be returning with our valuables. Our new jeweler has greeted us with timely updates, more reasonable quotes, better tact and handling of our items, and a friendlier presence.
