My husband got my engagement ring at A J Klein Jewelers and we're just about to celebrate 20 years! They've fixed things, replaced parts, resized things and worked with me on numerous ideas- including when I had to get 11 of the same necklace! My favorites are that they've helped with several ideas I've come up with in my head that didn't exist! And they've made at least 2 come to reality! I love looking at the estate jewelry, they always have unique pieces. The couple who owns it are both great and employees are knowledgeable and patient (as I try on the same estate piece over and over)! They even have good sales! Very attentive and professional. Allen was able to procure different diamonds for me to look at for my fiances engagement ring. He went over each diamond and explained where it stood on the color, clarity, and cut. Pricing was reasonable and was able to buy a beautiful engagement ring that my fiance loved. I brought my engagement ring here to be resized after my fiancée proposed to me. The work was completed in a few days, the work was of a very high quality. After the first resize we agreed on, I tried on my ring again and it wasn't feeling quite right to me. The staff didn't bat an eye, but said no problem let's redo for a little larger (no extra charge). They were kind, patient, COVID compliant, and made sure I got exactly what I wanted and felt my ring fit perfectly. Carol brought my mind at ease with her pressure free, friendly, patient and helpful insight. For a small purchase, she treated me like a Rock Star. It didn't end at the purchase, Carol introduced me to the Klein family and shared some small talk. They exceed my exceptions and treated me like family. We won't be visiting this store again. My wife and I needed to have watches re-sized. I called A.J. Klein and was told that the job would cost $10 per watch (plus tax). Since that's a standard price for a re-sizing job, we hopped in the car and drove to the store. Once they'd begun servicing our watches, we were told that the job would be $15 per watch plus tax. At that point, it was pretty much impossible for us to take our watches and leave. To make matters worse, the saleswoman who dealt with us was quite rude throughout the process. (The rest of the staff tried to make up for this, but it was too little, too late.) Bottom line: if you want to be soaked for 150% of the quoted cost of a job and then be treated poorly, this is the place for you. read more

We were first time customers to AJ Klein. Brought the wife's wedding band for repair; the diamond at the center of the ring came loose and the band itself had a crack. Mr. Klein inspected the ring and said that he could make all the necessary repairs using the same band. Two other jewelers we went to prior didn't even want to remount and was pushing for us to purchase a new band for a lot of $$$. Work was completed within 3 business days and the repair done was flawless. The wedding band looked the same as when I put it on her finger 28 years ago. Not only was it polished beautifully, could not even see the crack at all. Also, no issue with the price for repair; i.e. quoted and billed for the same price. Personnel was very friendly yet professional. Nice to know that there are still folks out there who have pride in their work. Bravo. read more

A wonderful, family owned store. I stopped in one week before Christmas to see if they could help me find something special to give my wife. The sales woman was fantastic, and within a few minutes I had some great ideas. They didn't have exactly what I was looking for in the display case (a simple diamond solitaire pendant), so the owner, Alan, was asked by the saleswoman to come over and chat. He was great. 10 minutes later I negotiated a very fair deal on a beautiful loose diamond with Alan, and he agreed to set it and include a chain in time for Christmas. Anyway, after having had my fill of haughty clerks at some of the snooty jewelry stores in Westport, it was a relief to find a nice, family owned store that just wanted me to succeed in finding the perfect gift. I brought in 2 pieces of jewelry to be repaired and the owner told me the earring post would be around $20. When I went to pick it up, the price was $25. I also dropped off a costume jewelry bracelet with a missing fake pearl. The price was fair but it took 3 weeks to get it back. I was used to having jewelry stores (in Waterbury) complete the job while I waited. The job was done well, but the owner made a point to tell me that 2 fake stones were missing instead of one but he wasn't going to charge me. I only saw one missing stone but decided not to argue, it wasn't worth it. read more

Although my business with AJ Klein was small (I had two rings re-sized), the service I received was as gracious and professional as you'd expect had I been making a purchase worth thousands. My questions were answered, my rings were repaired and polished beautifully, the turnaround was within a few days, and it was comforting to know that all the work was done on the premises. I went back to have it resized, and they graciously ordered me a new one in the correct size, even though it had been a special order. I recently bought an engagement ring from AJ Klein and it was a fantastic experience. I had done some previous research into diamonds and settings, but the expertise and insight from Alan was extremely helpful. I went into the store several times and each time, Alan stopped what he was doing to help me and look at several diamonds that he would order based on what I was looking for. If we didn't see a diamond we liked, he ordered more. Obviously with an engagement ring, you want everything to be perfect and that is what Alan helped me achieve. The diamond and setting were perfect and my fiance absolutely loved it. He was very fair on the price, and based on my other research, the price for the stone and setting were very comparable to everywhere else I looked. I appreciated all the time and effort he put in to this very big decision and I would recommend AJ Klein to anyone who needs any jewelry, not just an engagement ring.
