I love this location of altar'd state! It's been my go-to store since its opened, and I love it. The store is always clean, light, and airy, and the staff has always treated me with so much kindness. Today I had to make a bit of an unusual exchange and the girls were so kind helping me! I made an online purchase and when it arrived I needed to exchange a dress for a different size, but there was a glitch in the computer saying my order hadn't shipped. The girls in the store were so great helping me navigate this and figure out how to order the proper dress size. I can't recommend this location enough! Also, I've never experienced any issues with my service dog once while here, which is such an encouragement! Every time I walk in they welcome me and her in, and make sure that we are both treated with respect, kindness, and professionalism. I hope that everyone can say the same!! Kind music, hippie-yet-classy clothes, fun trinkets, and a wide array of offerings make this one of my favorite stores. I'm torn though, because the clothes are quite expensive for the quality. Therefore I've only ever gotten about four shirts in the span of a few years. Granted, they're my favorite shirts (#treatyourself) but not a place I can frequent. They have super-cute mugs, pajamas, jewelry and scarves too. I got an 'IND' baseball cap that I love (however definitely could've gotten a cheaper hat probably anywhere else). I caved. Definitely check the store out and enjoy it's beauty (and maybe the sale rom) for yourself! read more

i would give this place 5 stars because the staff, store, products and pricing are great. but I can't go in the store for more than 30 seconds without getting a migraine from the copious amounts of perfume sprayed through the place. it's so thick that you can smell the perfume outside on the sidewalk into the parking spaces. The smell isn't bad but the amount sprayed is beyond obnoxious. I will never understand why stores do this because it doesn't draw people in and has the opposite effect. I was in the store less thank a minute and I had to leave. please rethink spraying your store and clothing with so much perfume, I don't know anybody that likes when stores do this and unfortunately I won't / can't go back because it's not worth the sinus headache I get from it. Again, great products, staff, pricing etc, but none of it matters if I can't shop there. read more

This store is an Anthropologie lite; the vibe is a tad precious, although they have lots of nicely presented clothes, jewelry and home decorations. If you're into home decor that has words on it (Live, Laugh, Love; etc.), then Altar'd State is your store. The clothing is similar to what you'd find in a boutique. Very cute, trendy pieces, though the store looks like it skews a little on the young side. LOTS of jewelry here, too -- I saw many earrings and necklaces I wanted! read more

This is a very cool store in Clay Terrace in Carmel. Took me awhile to go into it because I assumed it was an ultra-high end boutique. It is a boutique type store but not as high end as I thought I would be. They have really cool and unique boho-chic pieces as well as word art decor, cool jewelry pieces and other accessories. I will say for what it is, the items are over priced and the sales aren't that great. I make a lot of wish lists but never purchase because I just can't justify spending $40 on a scarf. I'm hoping for some more budget friendly prices soon. With Charming Charlie across the street at cheaper prices for nearly the same items it's hard to beat. read more

Totally disappointed in my experience today. Went in today. Asked a salesperson to check a price on a wall hanging. It was up very high and I could not reach it. She radioed to someone and told me that the person would be checking for me. 30 min later I went to her and asked her if someone was going to check. She said yes when she was done ringing up customers. I said you do realize she's never going to be done. There is always a line. She then told me well then maybe you should just get in line. Seriously? She must have radioed her again. When I got to the front of the line I asked Sam the manager if someone could check the price. She incredibly rudely informed me in front of a line of customers that someone was coming with a ladder. And there were only three of them working. I looked at her in disbelief because I couldn't believe how rude and ignorant she had just been to me. Then I just said never mind. As I said it the salesperson come out with the ladder. She checked the price. I told her thank you but no thanks. As long as Sam is the manager I will not shop there. I do not need to spend money at a store where someone is that rude. read more
