If I'm being honest, I'm quite disappointed with the quality/taste of the food. The service and atmosphere were amazing, but the actual food taste did not impress me at all. I do live in Las Vegas and I'm spoiled by the taste of the food, but I got the sweet potato dish because it was recommended by my waiter and because I love a similar dish at Kyu in Vegas, but this one did not compare at all. It looked beautiful, but I did not enjoy the flavor. The beef tartare wasn't bad, but again, did not compare to the beef tartar that I'm used to having.

This is a hidden gem! It has a very similar menu to Alma Fonda fina and the food is just as good. I've tried mezcalera Alma and in my opinion it doesn't live up to the other two. We went for happy hour and it was quiet but was fine dining. The service was spectacular they give great descriptions of the dishes and are very attentive.

Finally made it. Yes, it is super hard to get a time slot around dinner time. Just need to go out two months ahead. Nice welcome at the front, inside the hotel. There are two restaurants inside. If you are walking in from the Clayton street, its to your right. Noise: Yikes. We had few ladies at the larger table behind us who were so loud. They were competing with each other to take the gold medal for most obnoxious person at the dinner table. After they left, it was so quite that our waiter didn't have to yell to communicate. Service: definitely worth the 5 star experience. Not overly rushed or hovering around you but dirty dishes were taken away, water is filled in timely manner. Utensils and plates were changed out very frequently. Food: since we had 30 minutes till the end of HH, we ordered several things off the HH menu. Our waiter took time to explain about the restaurant and the chef and his experience. All of the offerings were shareable. For first timer here, I was glad to do some homework. Before coming here, I saved pic of dishes I wanted to try and glad I did. It's was bit dark, hard to read the menu. Personally, there were some unique dishes. Definitely lot of people taking advantage of HH.

One of my favorite Denver openings of 2025... from the famed team behind Michelin-star Alma Fonda Fina and Mezcaleria Alma. The food is an homage to Chef Curiel's father's roots in the Highlands of Jalisco, bringing together some of the best dishes from Curiel's other restaurants with a focus on wood-fired cooking. One of the menu highlights was honestly the Pan de Elote (a seemingly simple cornbread elevated with soft huitlacoche butter and shaved black truffles). Another big difference is the expanded wine menu from Curiel's other restaurants, which definitely fits the location. The space (formerly home to Kini's) has undergone a beautiful transformation and can seat large and small groups alike (whereas Curiel's other restaurants are more intimate). Lovely service too -- same training evident across the entire restaurant group.

You can't go wrong with Alteno or any of the Alma restaurants for a special occasion, or if you just want a really great meal. Our server was Mel and she was fantastic, super knowledgeable about the menu, funny, and attentive. In our Open Table account, it noted it was our reservation even though it was 5 months away but Mel brought us some champagne to celebrate, how nice! Honestly at any of the Alma restaurants, you could close your eyes and point to anything on the menu and it would be fabulous. We got 2 ceviche, 2 tacos, a salad, and the steak and they were all wonderful. We had some leftover steak and Mel recommended us to make steak and eggs the next day and brought out some butter that would be great with it - it was indeed very good. Drinks are always good as well. I really appreciate that there are non alcoholic versions of their cocktails so I was able to try the avocado margarita - yum! No complaints whatsoever. The vibe is moody and dark and romantic, I am looking forward to coming back!

Fantastic experience. Wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Very vibey spot, very relaxed and it was easy to settle in. I loved that they hung our coats up, it's a very nice touch. Food was top notch. Highlights were the cornbread, and the camote asado (roasted sweet potato). Taking a star away because our steak took 45 minutes... for medium rare... and there were quite a few tough spots with lots of gristle. For $60, I would've expected a better cut of meat. No dessert menu, either. The desserts didn't stand out as anything unique (like the rest of the menu). A simple chocolate cake, some tres leches, or flan. I feel like more unique options would have been more appropriate. I did enjoy the experience, the price is awesome for what you get, and the food is delicious. Make sure to grab some matches on the way out!

I had no idea this was a sister restaurant to Alma Fonda fina, we tried to get reservations there and they were booked. We actually got a 8:45 reservation here and ended up sitting and eating at the bar a little earlier. The bartender was super helpful & attentive. We ordered the kampachi tostada, queso fundudo, crab avocado salad, & the chile relleno. Everything was fantastic! I'm really surprised this was such a hopping restaurant for a hotel restaurant. Normally if I saw a restaurant in a hotel I would assume it wasn't great. Well that's not the case with this restaurant, great food, great service, and a moody dark atmosphere which I like!

Wow, only great things to report about this amazing spot! The food is outstanding, we didn't have a single miss. Definitely try the queso while you're here! Service was wonderful and they treated us super well for a birthday outing. And the decor! It is absolutely stunning, no notes. I loved all the elegant little details all over the restaurant.

Wow. The food was spectacular. Honestly everything was great and pretty much worth the hype. We went 4 adults and loved the experience. The waiters were very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us decide what to eat. We started off with 3 oysters and tuna tartar and the carne apache. Both were great and fresh. Then we shared the pan de elote (probably one of the best parts of the meal) and the stuffed mushroom which had a tomatillo green goddess dressing that they should sell by the bottle. I think the salad that accompanied the mushroom was the best part of the meal. We each got our own taco next. I had the taco de pancita that was delicious. Juicy and not too fatty (didn't not overpower the flavor). And we shared the lamb and the chicken for entrees. Let me tell you that that fries with the chicken are a mountain and the ones at the bottom covered in chicken droppings were to die for. We ate every last bite. The lam had garbanzos on the bottom and I think that should have been its own plate. The lamb was good but came with a thick corn tortilla that blunted the rest of the flavors. Would probably not get the lamb again, but the rest was fantastic. To finish we shared a tree leches that was a little on the dryer side compared to what I am used to, however it was fantastic either way. The vibe is dark and moody with happy music. Its loud with low ceilings. Not a place I'd bring young ones. But for an elevated dinning experience without outrageous price tags...this is the place.

Glad I checked out Alteno, while in Denver. Note: it's easier to get a reservation here than Alma Fonda Fina - but don't get caught lacking. Make the reservation at least a week or two out. Cuisine: 4/5. Solid. Pan de Elote, Queso Fudido, Carne Asada taco. Filling. Tasty. And worth it. The prime rib eye was delicious in the taco. The pan de elote was buttery goodness. And the queso fundido was rich and flavorful. Beverages: 4/5. Negroni and the Old Fashioned. Yup. Service: Epic. 5/5. Aya and Camille answered questions and made great recommendations (Flan). I came for happy hour with a couple of friends and I would definitely do it again. The Volcan Al pastor for $10 was delicious and I also got a HH cocktail for $11. Our server recommended the pan de elote (cornbread) and I also see a lot of recommendations on here for it. While it was good, I don't think any of us thought it was worth the $19 (not on HH). I wanted to order more food and drinks, but our server didn't come by again before happy hour was over so that was annoying. There was also a 2% credit card surcharge.

Amazing service. They were extremely attentive and would give us a set of new plate and silverware after almost every dish. The table would be cleaned as well while resetting the table once again. She was eager to assist with any questions asked and provide suggestions for most popular dishes. When each dish is served, they explain the ingredients and how the chef recommends doing prior to eating to get the most of the flavor. My favorite was the pan de elote. The butter used was such a nice pairing. I could eat that butter everyday. Every dish served had amazing flavors and I had no complaints about any of them. Would definitely come back again with friends!

Everything from the food, service, and ambiance were phenomenal. One of my new favorite restaurants in Denver, CO. Can't wait to go back!

Having that much time before our reservation also meant I got to thoroughly research the menu, which definitely paid off. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's small, intimate, and has a modern aesthetic. There isn't a ton of seating, but that's part of the charm. There's patio seating along the railing outside, bar seating where you can watch the chefs work their magic in the open kitchen, and just a handful of tables inside. Parking is street parking in the surrounding neighborhood, and from what it looked like, most of it is paid. It was just me and a friend, and we shared four dishes, which ended up being the perfect amount of food. We started with the Callo de Hacha al Horno, and these were hands down the best scallops I've ever had. The presentation alone was gorgeous, with the scallops served in their shell, but the flavor completely stole the show. I'm a huge seafood fan, and this dish absolutely delivered. My friend isn't even much of a seafood person, and it was his first time trying scallops and he loved them too. I joked that he may have ruined scallops for himself because it's hard to imagine finding a better version. Next, we each ordered a Taco Campechano, and wow. This was either the best or second-best taco I've ever had. The taco features two different meats with a green salsa on one half and a red salsa on the other, making every bite a little different. Both sides were fantastic, but the green salsa was next level. At around $11, this feels like one of the best values on the menu and is an absolute must-order. Our third dish was the Birria de Borrego, and it was incredible. The lamb shank was so tender that the bone slid right out with almost no effort. It comes with beans, salsa, and house-made blue corn tortillas so you can build your own tacos. Speaking of the tortillas--they deserve their own praise. They were phenomenal, and we honestly joked about asking for an order to take home. Our final dish was the Camote Asado, which I'd seen recommended all over the internet. Maybe I built it up too much in my head because it ended up being the only dish that didn't blow me away. Don't get me wrong, it was still very good. The sweet potato was perfectly cooked, and the fennel whipped requesón was delicious. My only heads-up for future diners is that some bites pack a surprising amount of heat, so if you're sensitive to spice, keep that in mind. I enjoy spicy food, but it's worth mentioning for those who don't! The service was excellent as well. They take your entire order at the beginning of the meal and then thoughtfully pace each course, which made the whole dining experience feel relaxed and intentional. One thing that really surprised me was the value. For a Michelin-starred restaurant, this was incredibly affordable. We ordered four courses between the two of us, and even after tip, our total was only around $120 (we didn't order cocktails). That's an exceptional value for the quality of food and overall experience! Overall, Alma Fonda Fina completely lived up to the hype. Between the incredible execution, creative flavors, intimate atmosphere, and surprisingly reasonable pricing, this has quickly become one of my all-time favorite restaurants. It's easy to see why reservations are so hard to get, and I'll absolutely be back. Next time, I'm hoping to grab a seat at the chef's counter to watch the team in action while working my way through even more of the menu.

Only small detail, we got the ceviche as our 4th dish. Given that is sweet due to the coconut milk, I feel this should have been last as a kind-of desert-like dish.
