Extremely disappointed with our experience here. My sister, the bride, left in tears after being surprised with a $65 consultation fee -- something that was not disclosed up front. She's on a tight wedding budget and would never have booked had she known. When we brought up the issue, the staff was dismissive and unkind, offering no flexibility or understanding. Weddings are stressful enough -- this kind of treatment only made things worse. We won't be returning, and we'd caution others to ask a lot of questions before booking. This place should never do alterations! First of all, they are rude. Secondly, very inexperienced, Overpriced for the service and alterations received. Grumpy as could be and should not interface with paying clients! The hem has fallen in 4 of the 7 pairs of new pants that needed to be shortened. Also, I did not request a vent cut out at the bottom of my pants. I did NOT ask for that! I put the shoe and boot I would be wearing on for the alteration and vents were NEVER discussed! As a preface, I've been using Alterations Express for years. I've always been extremely satisfied with their quality of work. However, my most recent visit was terrible. While I used to live close to this business, I've since moved an hour away. That said, I remembered how satisfied I was with previous alterations and decided to make the hour drive (2-hour round trip) to have two brand new shirts hemmed. when they were done, I drove back to them only to find uneven hems. One shirt was worse than the other. So, I took the shirt back to show them and they said they would redo it. They even pinned it to be certain it was right. I drove back today and found that , while the shirt was better, it still was uneven. It's a shame to trust a "professional alterations" company with brand new shirts only to have shoddy work. Not to mention that I had to pay for it, and the gas to get there twice! If you're looking for a good alterations business, I do not recommend Alterations Express. read more

Bait and switch... brought maxi dress in for simple alterations..hem and straps. Originally told no express fee for completion 4 days later. I have said this before, but I will make sure I follow up this time. I WILL NOT visit this establishment again. They quote one price on the phone, and change their mind when you arrive. The clerk actually said that the women I spoke to on the phone was wrong. She works there. Also, they are rude and do not extend kind customer service. I feel as if I am bothering them when I walk up to the counter. I have been disappointment with Alterations Express in Warrendale 3 times and refuse to go back. My wife and I were dress shopping weeks prior to our wedding and the employee working told my wife she wasn't the type that "fit the mold and was overweight and to go elsewhere because she's a plus size." Alterations express is what happens when you are a monopoly. A good seamstress is so hard to find. Even though I have had marginal results I was a repeat customer because they are almost the only game in town. I had a blouse taken in on the side seam that was wrong, took it back, it was never right. They couldn't do a hem on a skirt within a week even though the hem while you wait sign was on because it wasn't pants. Finally today I had a hem on an A line dress. It is a cotton dress you see everywhere . I was quoted 56 because there was a 1/4 seem on either side that had to be opened a teeny tiny bit and the dress is "really wide," like a straight hem is so complicated to sew. Literally straight. The dress only cost 79! I asked the lady if she thought the price was fair and she said she did. Well I don't and this really was the last straw. Hem tape here I come. read more

I had gone to a different tailor and they messed up my wedding dress. I called Alteration Express and they were able to get me in and fix my dress in a couple of days! Lynn was fantastic and reassuring and my dress is perfect!!! Not sure what I would have done if they hadn't been able to fit me in, they were amazing! read more

Abhorrent behavior by everyone at the store. Went in with a dress and the tailor insulted the dress. Asked for a rolled hem and was told "you should just return this!" When the tailor was told, "well it's hard to find things in bigger sizes, so this is what I bought..." was met with "well this hem might be terrible!" They use rudeness as a way to cover for poor craftsmanship. Was met with body shaming and told, unprompted, that the shoes that were purchased (Manolo Blahniks) were ugly. Today, after picking up the dress, I asked to speak with the manager about the treatment received. They immediately got defensive and stated, "if someone asks, we're honest." The problem with this statement is that they were never asked! Completely unsolicited and unprompted rude remarks. When telling people about this horrible treatment, I was met with "yeah, the same thing happened to me," over four times. I was even told about how poor the tailoring was. Save yourself money, time, and feeling shamed. I will be encouraging everyone I know to patronize another tailor. Abhorrent behavior, terrible customer service, and poor craftsmanship. Very disappointing interactions over the course of several weeks. I dropped off two shirts & a jacket to clean and two pairs of slacks to be let out a bit. I try to be on-the-ball about dropping things off, so I told them to take their time before I'd pick the items up for a wedding out of state. After 2 1/2 weeks, I returned to find that one pair of slacks was left at the warehouse and could not be found. Waiting for half an hour while 3 different employees made phone calls and stood around awkwardly under my stare, I was eventually told they couldn't be located "at present" and I would get a call as to their whereabouts. Being in a tizzy, I failed to try on the other pair of slacks to make sure everything was ship-shape. My mistake. After getting them to the wedding, THE BRIDE noticed that the stitching immediately started coming undone after putting them on and the inner-stitching was non-existent. It takes nearly 3 weeks to do this?? The Lost Pair was found the day after my pick-up but they could not be delivered for several days (something the district manager Jackie ended up doing, as apparently no one else was capable). Giving credit where credit is due, everyone was kind and understanding during this fiasco. Kind, but inept. Jackie (the aforementioned manager) was very responsive and apologetic to my several phone calls, but in the end, I had to go and deal with most of this myself. Needless to say, I shall not return to any of their branches (once they fix what they unmade). read more

They fixed my leather jacket zipper for a reasonable price, and went with the smallest fix instead of jumping to some expensive solution. But the standout thing at this place are the employees. I'm not kidding when I say that I wish every store had the same polite, courteous staff who seemed to care both about their work and interviewing with you. I had a good time interacting both at drop-off and pick-up. I'll find more stuff that needs fixing and I'll go back here. read more

The absolute worst experience of my life. The GM at this store verbally assaulted me in front of my children, got in my face, physically tried shutting the dressing room door on me while I was trying to hold it open. They ruined my daughter's flower girl dress and when I expressed my dissatisfaction, she began getting extremely defensive and screaming in my face to the point I felt her spit on my face. I have had several pairs of pants hemmed. Each pair were perfectly done. The employees are extremely polite; the process of pinning the pants was smooth and employee took a good deal of time to answer my question and see which length suited me best. Each time I've dropped off clothing they were complete on time; the pattern of the hemming matched the original hem style perfectly. No stress, no worries and all at a great price. read more

I would actually give zero stars. The dress I took for dry cleaning came back with marks on it that were not there when I took it. The employee said they didn't do it. Nothing she could do. They way she spoke was embarrassing. The customer service is as bad as the dry cleaning service. read more

Do not use this dry cleaner if you don't want your clothes to get damaged. My winter jacket got ripped on the all edges after their service. When I brought the jacket in, there was a small rip in the material, covering the seam, and I agreed to sign the recognition form. But, after dry cleaning, all the cover material was shredded to bits, and most was missing. I didn't notice this until after I took it home and removed the plastic wrapping. I was totally shocked when I saw the damage. They never apologized or even mentioned anything about it at pickup. So, I took it back to the shop, but the store manager still showed no remorse for the damage. She told me to take it back to Korea for a refund. They damaged my favorite jacket, then blamed the manufacturers quality. By the way, the cleaning instruction mentions covering the edge with foil which they didn't follow the washing guide. I trusted their professionalism, but was treated rudely. If they damage a garment, they should at least show the curtesy of apologizing to the customer. I will no longer use their service. read more

The staff there are NOT friendly at all. One girl in particular was very rude. I tried helping her cuff my pants to let her see how much I wanted off and she rolled her eyes and said that's our job to do that. First off, you didn't need to be rude about it and second, where were you going with the eye roll? I didn't say anything until I went to the counter after being fitted and asked a question of do I pay now or later? She said I can do either and then I asked will you know how much and once again in a smart tone, I don't know how much it is until I ring it up. The question was basically will you know the price now or not until the work was done. You deal with customers all day so maybe you need to learn how to talk to people in more of a professional manner instead of being short and rude. Also, don't bother asking for the manager because she won't do anything about it, she basically said I'm sure she didn't mean to sound rude. No apologies! read more

This place is hopping busy, especially on a Saturday. Aside from the fact that they need to hire about 4 more counter people, the alterations are very well done, and you can get things done very quickly--within a day--but there is an extra charge for one day delivery. Still, no one else would touch my dress when it had to be done the next day. read more
