I had what I imagine was a pretty unusual need--I had an upcoming camping trip and discovered that my tent fly had a huge rip. It was an expensive tent that I'd had for about 3 years and used maybe 6 times. I was not keen on spending the $400-$500 or so necessary to replace it so I started calling/emailing around. Both REI and Whole Earth Provisions directed me to out-of-state tent repair places that charged a lot in addition to the to/from shipping cost which would be a lot for what I had to ship. I did not find any local tailors specializing in tent repair in my searching, so I emailed a bunch. Lidia was the first to respond and because she was relatively close by and promised a quick turnaround I took it to her. I really had my doubts as to whether the thing could be effectively repaired; the fabric at the edge of the bottom seam of the fly near a stress point (where it was staked into the ground) was completely torn up to about 18" from the edge. Lidia took one look and confidently told me she could fix it by taking the seam completely apart and rebuilding it. Which she did, for a very reasonable price and in a quick timeframe. When I took it home and set up the tent to check it out, i was super impressed with her work--i couldn't really tell it apart from how it appeared before. However much to my chagrin I then realized the same sort of tear was starting on the other side of the door, which I hadn't seen before...and now I was down to just a few days before we had to leave on the trip. I called Lidia and took it back in and she turned it around in a day, with the same amazing quality. If I ever need any clothes tailored I'll definitely take them to Lidia based on this experience, but I can say for certain she's an absolute local treasure if you need a tent repair! read more

I had a pair of overalls that were too big and I needed taken in. The women in this shop were so nice and friendly. They pinned everything and made sure it was what I wanted, provided me with the quoted cost, and a claim ticket. When I got my overalls back I started to get nervous wondering if I had them taken in too much and would I be able to get them on. They went ahead and added a zipper for me so make it easy to get them on without me asking. They thought of everything and I was so happy! TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. WILL NOT RETURN. I went in to alter my bridesmaid dress and two nice dresses that belonged to my recently-deceased mother. Prior to seeing Lidia, I emailed her asking for a cost estimate for what I wanted done to each dress, and she said she would give me the estimate during the fitting. Looking back, I should have insisted on at least a general estimate over email and given details about each dress before my scheduled fitting. I had never gotten anything altered before, so I had no idea what my frame of reference should be cost-wise. For the bridesmaid dress alone, it cost $150 for basic hemming and taking in the top a small amount. She told me that it was "a little bit" of an extra cost because of the dress's multiple layers of fabric. Having no frame of reference, I agreed. Now I realize I was taken advantage of. On top of that, right after the alterations AND over email closer to the pickup date, she told me I could pick up my dresses at any time (9:30-5:30) on the specific date she gave me (two days before the wedding, mind you), so I drove into Austin during morning traffic to get there a little after opening. I walked in requesting my dresses to find none of them had even been altered yet! They told me to come back after 4:30 that same day, and I was thankfully able to do so, but the day was an absolute chaotic rush of getting other wedding preparations done (I'm also the wedding florist). I then drove an hour into Austin during prime evening traffic hours to pick up my dresses that I should have been able to get in the morning. Lidia was very nice in demeanor, but clearly saw my youth and inexperience as something to take advantage of. I will not return to this business again. read more

She was able to complete all my changes in about 3.5 weeks which included taking out the hip area with 3 layers, taking in the bust area and shortening the hem. They quoted me $800 to alter my very simple dress, because there was a pattern on it that she said was complicated to work with. I was very stressed out, as that price was over four times the amount I spent on the dress. I found Lidia on Yelp and decided to see if I would have better luck with her. She was so incredibly kind. She gave me several options at varying price points. She finished the dress in plenty of time. And most importantly, the dress was beautiful and fit me like a glove. I had a bad experience here. I took a total of 12 pants to have inseam length shortened and spent close to $200. I tried on a couple of pants and she marked the desired lengths on them. Asked her to alter 5 of them first to check if they come out right and they came out as expected. However 4 of the rest of the pants were off, different length. So I take them back and point out they are inconsistent and she tried to verify by putting one pant on top of the other!!! That means she never measured anything with a tape in the first place! She just winged it by putting one pant on top of the other to mark the lengths!!! She usually smiles and has a great attitude when a customer goes in. But when I brought back stuff to point out mistakes and have them corrected, her attitude changed. No apologies for inconsistencies and mistakes. She took 3 days to correct 4 pants(much longer than usual) and even delayed them by a few hours. Never called me back to let me know they were done. I just simply showed up to collect them regardless of whether they were done or not. I'm not even 100% confident she really fixed them. Mistakes happen, I am not a perfectionist -- but if a business cannot act right to correct the mistake promptly and make the customer happy, they will not have my respect. If a tailor isn't taking out the tape to measure everything, what kind of a tailor are they? How can they possibly have such good reviews? How easy or difficult is it to alter pant length? How many of the reviewers encountered a mistake in the work and brought their clothes back? read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience with tailored by Lidia. I was needing to get a bridesmaid dress hemmed (several inches off) and have pockets taken out of it. I went in and tried on the dress and the shoes I was planning to wear (flat sandals), told her I needed it hemmed and the pockets taken out and she told me the price would be $88.98. I agreed and she began marking with chalk on the dress hem, I assumed this was where she was going to hem it. When I went back a week later to try it on I first notice the pockets had not been cut out, as I tried on the dress and quickly noticed it was also too short (1-11/2inch off ground). When I mentioned this to Lydia she said that formal length is 1 inch off the ground, information that 1)is not accurate and 2) would have been important to communicate with the customer. I also mentioned that the pockets were still there and she said it was not on the ticket to do. She said they could do them in the next day but that would be another $28. Lydia did offer to press the dress because that may make it a bit longer but offered no discount. I spent almost $100 to get a dress that is too short and I am now extremely unconfident in. I should have been more explicit on the length I was wanting but as a professional I also believe that Lydia should have done much better. read more

Took a full-length bridesmaids dress here to have hemmed and cups removed. It was altered perfectly and without error. The length is perfect, and the cups were frivolous so I'm happy they're gone! I picked the dress up two weeks after drop off since I wasn't in a hurry. Just FYI, my alterations of hemming and removing cups cost $116 because of the 3 layers of lining. read more

Lidia deconstructed and then re-constructed the entire dress, created new sleeves, opened up the back, took several pounds of material out of it, and turned it into a dress that I love. Lidia helped me out big time! I've had my wedding dress since 2017. It's made by a Japanese brand that I absolutely love but the dress has always been too small for me. Of course my wedding was delayed due to Covid and when we finally settled on a new date for a private ceremony I realized I would not fit my dress at all. Lidia was able to open the dress up with two panels on the side where no one would see and added length to the straps so the dress better fit my bust. She also made my matching blouse fit. The price for both alterations was way better than having to buy a brand new "wedding dress" on the cheap end that would not make me feel as beautiful. I was so worried there wouldn't be enough time or even be possible to make this dress fit but she made magic happen! I am so grateful. I will feel so beautiful on my wedding day. She did excellent work within the time frame she stated at drop off and she did it at a fair price. There is parking in the back making it easy to drop off and pick up your items.
