The Bespoke Clothier completely changed how I think about fit. If you have a hard-to-fit body type,…read moreyou know how disappointing even "altered" clothes can be. I brought Gabriel a designer suit that still didn't feel right after store alterations. He was pretty honest--said the best it could become was a 7/10--and then went to work. He adjusted the shoulders, chest, sleeves, lapels, which required him to move every single button. It was literally a completely different suit. And for the first time, it actually fit the way it should. Since then, I've gone back for five custom suits, multiple shirts, and my favorite, an overcoat (which I'd avoided for years because of off-the-rack fit issues). Every item has come out perfectly tailored. If fit has always been a compromise for you, it's worth seeing what Gabriel can do. Adding some photos, but I'm not a fashion/textiles photographer. It's harder than it looks.

I've been looking for a place to get a proper suit made for a while. I consider myself a difficult…read morefit -- my chest measurement is at least 10 inches more than my waist. My posture is very upright and that just makes the chest issue even more difficult. There aren't many places in the US outside of New York that do real bespoke -- patterns cut from scratch. I'm glad I found Gabriel. He has a great understanding of classic men's style and proportions. The suit he made for me is very comfortable and continues to get better as the canvas takes the shape of my body. I keep looking for areas to make micro improvements for my next project with him. But to be honest, the fit is so good I'm not sure there's much to change other than experimenting with other styles, like a double breasted. I plan on commissioning something from him every year as long as I stay in Washington. The super tight, short jacket with the bum exposed, with skinny lapels was trending for a while on off the rack clothing. Even some made to measure places make suits like this. If you are looking for a suit to wear for the next 10 years, I encourage you to give Gabriel a try and have him make something timeless for you.

If you're looking for true custom tailoring - not just "made-to-measure," but an experience where…read moreevery detail is intentional - go see Sew Generously. This is on an entirely different level. I'll start by saying this - I didn't come here first. I initially went the big-box route (Nordstrom MTM), thinking it would be a safe bet. Unfortunately, the measurements were off, the fit wasn't right, and the overall experience felt rushed and impersonal. For something as important and personal as a suit, that just didn't sit right with me. That experience is exactly what led me to Sew Generously - and in hindsight, I'm glad it did. From the moment I walked in, it was clear this wasn't just about selling a suit - it was about getting it right. The consultation was thoughtful, detailed, and genuinely collaborative. They took the time to understand not just my measurements, but how I like a suit to feel, how I carry myself, and the overall presence I wanted the piece to have. We spent nearly two hours dialing everything in - fabric, structure, drape, silhouette - every detail had purpose. I landed on a dark charcoal suit with a silver/gray paisley lining, real horn buttons, and a fully customized shirt to complement the build. At no point did anything feel rushed or "templated." This was craftsmanship. What really separates Sew Generously is their process. Multiple fittings, adjustments along the way, and a commitment to precision - not "close enough," but exactly right. That level of care is rare. And just as important as the technical side is the people. Professional, personable, and clearly passionate about what they do. You can tell they take pride in building relationships, not just transactions - and that matters. I'm someone who is extremely particular about fit and overall presentation, and I can say confidently: I trust this team completely with my wardrobe moving forward. In fact, my wife and I have already started talking about coming back in for a made-to-measure overcoat for her ahead of the winter season. After experiencing this process firsthand, there's really no reason to go anywhere else. If you've had a frustrating experience elsewhere, don't let that turn you off from custom tailoring - this is what it's supposed to be. Looking forward to continuing to build with this team. This is just the beginning.

The initial scheduling and consultation went great. However, when I went in for my first fitting,…read morethe suit was 3-4 sizes too large. It was comically large on me. For the second fitting the suit was still 1-2 sizes too large. They then let me know that unfortunately there was not enough time to do another round of alterations before the wedding. So all the wedding photos are of me in a ill fitting suit. Was the suit terrible? No. But, did it fit? Also no. After the wedding they offered to do yet another set of alterations, this time with a different attendant, who did a much better job on making the suit fit. Photos are of the arms to show how much extra fabric there was after they did alterations, compared to the final suit I got post wedding.

I can't say enough good things about Jeff and his attention to the details. I held off on reviewing…read moreuntil I got it pictures back from my wedding. I wound up changing a handful of small details such as the shirt I was wearing as our venue decorations changed so this isn't 100% the suit I got. Jeff's attention to detail though was fantastic and my changes certainly don't reflect on him or the quality of this suit which is impeccable. I spoke with a few bespoke suit places and Jeff just got my style the best. While other suits were beautiful, I think the small details Jeff payed attention to and some of his designs for the more modern person. Pockets for days! Jeff was super friendly, accommodating and helpful. My lady requested a swatch of fabric to help tie together the Father's and best man's suit with mine and he was able to accommodate. All in all...I highly suggest giving Jeff a try. He was great and look forward to the next one.

"Looking good Lewis. Feeling good Billy Ray." IYKYK…read more I've been using Jeff since around 2006. Yesterday he was in my office and we caught up and he did a current measurement. The "funny" thing is I was wearing one of the suits I purchased from him in 2008. Still fits great. I wore a different sport coat and slacks into the office earlier this week from closer to 2006 and my office mates thought I got new clothes. They might cost more than an off-the-rack suit but I promise you that once you wear a custom suit, shirt or slacks you won't want to go back. And of course the cost per wear is pretty low after almost 20 years. And they aren't being removed from my closet. Jeff is super personable and not pushy. He knows his stuff and you'll look great and feel great because looking good is feeling good.
