There was also a covered entry which facilitated drop off and pick up without worry for inclement weather. And appreciated the very large parking lot to accommodate the many driving guests that came to the funeral we attended this past weekend. The facility was open and airy with very high ceilings which gave a feeling of spaciousness which was very important for some of us who do not want to feel crowded in during a time of grieving even if it is communal. The staff were very attentive and quietly present, overseeing and making sure guests knew where everything was. There was an excellent screen to facilitate photos being cycled of the deceased which helped guests feel connected through memories. There was a kitchen/table area where food could be handled and set up with coffee and tea available in addition to a water cooler. There was a side room with a couch for those who needed some quiet, family and elderly utilized that space. A cloak room made it easier to take off winter coats which made guests feel more welcome and comfortable. When we accidentally left our traveling bags behind in the cloak room we were able to reach the funeral director Julie Shim who stayed later to make sure we could pick up our suitcases for our travels early the next morning. Outstanding professionalism and customer care.

If you've got a funeral home your family has been going to for generations, great. If not, you need…read moreto figure things out pretty quickly and Caring Cremations makes things easy with a website where you can choose your options and have upfront pricing which seems pretty reasonable. They also offer services and online obituaries, etc. but it's a very easy option for a simple cremation and all the accompanying requirements (just pay the money for at least 5-10 death certificates, you'll probably need them). I wouldn't recommend filling out the online forms on a regular phone as things can be small for reading and you don't want to risk a typo in the official documents but the whole process is pretty simple on a tablet, laptop, or full size computer monitor. I didn't complete all the online documents until late in the evening but they showed up way down in Oak Lawn early the next morning to pick up my father. Expect timing to be roughly a week after that unless you need expedited service, but standard timing was fine for my needs. The funeral home for pickup near Pulaski & Addison can have congested traffic, especially during rush hour or when there's a Cubs game, but there is an easy parking lot in back or delivery to your home is an option as well. Not a place you hope to deal with, but a helpful option for many to get things done when needed.

My daughter was only 29 and I made a couple of appointments and never showed up I honestly thought…read moreI had more time but I didn't. I received your call on December 29 that my daughter was about to be incubated at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago and at that moment I packed a bag and drove to Chicago and stayed until her passing on April 13, 2026 after Brittany was treated at Northwestern and rarely there was nothing more that could be done she had encephalitis and lymphoma cancer so for four months she fought a hard long battle . My daughter was transferred to Kindred North Hospital investigation, and only lasted a a few days there before she passed and when the time did come I contacted Doug originally and he said just call us when it happens and we'll pick her up and we'll deal with the money and everything later.. actually I couldn't call, but my cousin did make the phone call and then later after she passed, I was able to go online and complete all the pertinent information but he was very professional and when I did pick up the Urns he made it a priority to come out and meet me and offer his condolences very professional service. The only complaint I had was the lady who took care of us seemed a bit cold, but I guess in that type of business you become cold well perhaps that happened to her she didn't offer condolences nothing just let's get this business over with. If I asked a question she didn't know she didn't even try to find answer.I Again I am horrible with names, but this young lady was very compassionate and helpful I was unsure if I was going to be able to drive back to Tennessee or have to fly and she provided me with a free box to ship the urn. irregardless if I ever had to use them again, I would. I live in Tennessee so it's not going to happen, but that was my only daughter who died at age 29. Doug, appreciate your outstanding service and your personal effect on your company. I mean job well done..

She went above and beyond for our family. She listened, gave options, was honest, understanding, compassionate, and thoughtful. I was impressed by the personal treatment that she gave to my daughter. Stacy valued my daughters input and made her feel appreciated in the whole planning process. Stacy made herself available any time during for any questions, concerns, requests, that we had. When we walked into the funeral home, it gave you a very home like feeling, not depressing more inviting, and it smelled fresh. They have the room for the viewing, a back room for refreshments. I made a video to play of pictures that was easily hooked up to the TV from my Mac and Spotify playlist to be played during the visitation. The whole establishment was spotless from the parking lot to the bathrooms. As I look back, Riverwoods was absolutely 100% the right choice and would not go anyplace else. I would recommend Riverwoods to anyone that might need these services. I was very pleased with the operations of this establishment. They went above and beyond for my family. They are genuinely good and caring people, they take the time to help during extremely difficult times. Stacy was an angel of compassion at a time when I physically and mentally exhausted and was in desperate need of a helping hand. I'm extremely grateful for everything they have done and can't thank them enough for being there for my family.
