Not many jewelry stores would even let someone in a blue-collar work outfit step through the door, especially coming straight from work, but they treated me with respect from the moment I walked in. There comes a time in life when a man needs a fine dress watch to wear to special occasions or important business meetings and that time for me is now. After looking at various models from Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, and Audemars Piguet, I decided that the classic Patek Philippe Calatrava was the perfect choice for me. Picking a perfect watch is probably impossible, but there is something so elegant and understated with the mechanically wound Patek Calatrava that this watch simply appealed to me as the one to purchase, enjoy, and even pass down to my son when my time is up (no pun intended). However, as most watch horologists (fancy term for watch aficionados) can tell you, there are only 120 or so Patek Philippe dealers in the world that sell about 50,000 watches per year and most have several year waiting lists. Well, I decided to stop by Altier Jewelers in Boca Raton to see if they had any options and find out how to get on the waiting list. Upon entering this beautiful store, I was introduced to Cutler Altier, the CEO of the boutique and he proceeded to give me an introduction and education on this exclusive watch brand. I was pleasantly surprised when he showed me a few different models he had in stock but were already sold to other customers that have not picked them up yet. He even gave me a thick book that highlighted every model that Patek Philippe sells. I left him my contact info and figured it would be awhile before hearing any news. Over the next few months, I stopped by the store a few times to show my continued interest, and one day I received a phone call that he had a special watch that was available if I was still interested, but I was out of town for a few days, so fortunately, he agreed to hold it for me until I returned to Boca. The watch he was holding for me was a Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 6119R in rose gold that was absolutely stunning to see in person. This is a new model, with a new caliber, larger 39mm case, and has the most amazing sapphire crystal back that almost looks even more beautiful than the dial. With an alligator leather strap, rose gold hour markers, and a guilloched hobnail pattern also known as "Clous de Paris" it was hard for me to contain my excitement at this mechanical marvel. I snapped a few pics with my iPhone, uploaded them to Yelp, and can state that the photos can't capture the real beauty of the watch. If you visit the Patek website, their photographers are very talented. Buying a fine watch like Patek Philippe is not an everyday occurrence and I was incredibly happy to receive the red carpet treatment by Cutler Altier and highly recommend them to anyone in the market for fine watches or jewelry. read more

The first time I visited Altier Jewelers, I needed help purchasing a new chain for a solitaire diamond I owned. While it seemed a simple buy, I was presented with many options, before making a final decision. The service was superb. Today I visited Altier once again, and this time I was asking for assistance sizing 2 watch bands I had recently purchased for my Apple Watch. Despite the fact that I wasn't making a big purchase and in need of a small service, Len went above and beyond to assist me. I was looking for a local jeweler to replace batteries in Cartier and Patek watches, I got their information from the Patek website as an authorized seller. I called to make sure they could do the service and Len was so helpful and gracious on the phone, that level of customer service was continued when I went to the store. While staying at the Boca Raton Resort and Club my wife and her friend stopped in at the beautiful boutique jewelry store just off the lobby. It's at 501 E. Camino Real. The delightful salesperson, Michelle, told them it was an small extension of the family-owned business. They have a very nice selection of rings, earrings, bracelets, watches, and necklaces. Michelle showed them some lovely pieces and took great care to tell them about each one. My wife liked one in particular, and told me about it. So unbeknownst to her, I went back to visit Michelle and looked at a few other pieces. Michelle remembered the ladies and shared with me some more information about the store and the owners. She was so attentive and personable and not at all pushy or in a hurry. It was such a pleasure to meet a knowledgeable and caring salesperson.
