Been hearing about this place from the ladies in my community and took the drive to Giddings and was NOT disappointed! The selection was amazing and even better, right now until May 31st, everything is 50% off. There are rows and rows of plants, flowers and all of them have an explanation of light needed and a description of the plants. They have signs everywhere explaining their hours. After trying to decide, came up with some great finds and definitely will go back in the next week or so to stock up with some color for my yard. Plants looked healthy and everything was arranged neatly and easy to select.

This is the mother ship nursery for TX (the companies corporate head quarters is located in Vista CA)... the main head quarters (for TX)... the big Cheese... the lead wigwam. Yep located in Giddings TX is a 60 acre facility of Greenhouse grown plant products... from annuals, perennials, succulents, cactus, ground covers. Roses, shrubs, vines, etc etc. It was just a little pup not too long ago, but grew into a big dog over the last 5 years when a family owned company, named the Altman's, bought it and turned it into what it is today. Again this is not open to the public, but if you buy plants anywhere from the valley of TX to Dallas to Houston to Amarillo to Springfield MO to Little Rock AR to Tulsa OK or anywhere between... chances are you have bought plants that were grown right here. It is an amazing place filled with amazing people and plants... a truly great place!

Here in the Gulf Coast, it's "NOW IMPERATIVE" that you plant ONLY IN THE FALL [OCT is ideal], and NOT IN THE SPRING. Reason is, that the past few years have had [and MAY continue to have] BRUTAL SPRINGS [meaning... July/August HEAT in April/May]. A tree planted in the Spring has absolutely no chance to develop a new root system capable to supporting that tree for the rest of a [potential] very HOT year. A tree planted in the FALL will have upwards to 5-6 months of cooler/cold weather to grow a root system. Yes!! Trees continue to grow their roots even if they've dropped all their leaves. Notice that that 1 star review was made in May of '22; that was not the fault of BVTree Farm. That was the 1st year of high heat in Spring. Who Knew!! Times [weather] have changed, and we need to change as well. By the way, this is just my opinion, and I do not represent, and/or am I compensated by BVTree farm. I'm 83 yrs old, and I try not to make the same "mistake" twice; I purchased an [on-line/delivered from out of state] tree in Spring of '21, and it failed due to the NEW heat issue. I plan on purchasing a new tree this week, and will get that sucker in ground by mid Oct. Good luck with your choices..

Talked to them and they don't do refunds or exchanges. Blamed it on "Mother Nature". Also they are not always open during stated business hours. Long drive out to find they are closed. Won't be doing business there. Buyer beware.

Bloomers Garden Center - A beautiful cement bench to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. I brought my garden books to see if some of those plants were at Bloomers.

Bloomers in Elgin delivered on both. The staff was super friendly, welcoming, and actually knowledgeable about their plants (which makes a huge difference when you're hunting for anything uncommon). They were willing to answer questions and you can tell they genuinely love what they do. Their rare plant selection is dope. There were so many unique plants to choose from, and even what they consider their "regular houseplant section" had plants you honestly won't find at most other shops in Central Texas. I found myself doing multiple laps because I kept spotting things I missed the first time. The greenhouse setup was beautiful and well organized, and you can tell they take pride in the health of their inventory. If you're new to plants, a seasoned collector, or somewhere in between, this place is absolutely worth the trip. 10/10 recommend. Will definitely be back.
