TL;DR: Degraded service and poor medication availability. Not the same as 2 years ago. Consider using a local pharmacy if you need something urgently within the same day or next day. I believe the pharmacists and staff are working as hard as they can but the overall system is no longer in a great shape. The experience started great about 2 years ago. Support was responsive within the same day, call wait time is less than 5 minutes and everything was in stock. Fast forward to 6 months ago, we noticed a trend of medications being out of stock (very common antibiotics) and we had to wait for a few days until it can be delivered. We ended up asking the doctor to send the prescription to another local pharmacy so we can get the medication within the same day which is crucial for an acute medical condition. Also, we noticed longer wait time for online support. Instead of the same day response, it will take up to a day or 2 before hearing back. 3 weeks ago, I needed another medication urgently within the same day or next day morning. It was a Friday and Alto couldn't delivered again (not until the next Tuesday which is not acceptable). Given the doctor office closed early, I had to do a prescription transfer, the local pharmacy called me, told me that they called Alto and was told the wait time is more than an hour, and they couldn't hold on a line for that long. Desperately, I sent an message via the app and called Alto myself and again the machine told me the wait time is an hours. Being on hold of 50 minutes, I finally talked to someone. The rep told me my medication is actually in stock but just a different manufacture and there is only a few dollars difference. What!? So the app never even bothered to provide the option to get something that is immediately available. Instead, it just showed out of stock and I had to wait for a few days for the same medication but a different manufacture? The rep offered to switch to a another manufacture and get the med delivered the same day; I accepted that with no hesitation. An hour later, I got an message via the app saying my medication was transferred over to the local pharmacy... what a mess, it looks like my case status was not properly updated after talking to the phone rep. In summary. The availability and accessibility of the customer service and medication have been going down hill to a degree that I no longer consider Alto as my primary pharmacy. If I need something within the same day or two, I started using a local pharmacy.. read more

Missing important paid medication for several days. They just don't answer the phone. Worst service ever. I tried to setup account online, but I got a message that I may already have an account and to the 800 number, but guess what? They don't answer their damn phone. Worst experience ever. Generally great customer service and quick response. However, I had difficulty getting in touch with pharmacy after receiving a late message that they couldn't get my card to charge and I was 30 minutes from the deadline for the day's delivery. Ultimately I was able to resolve it on their app, which was helpful. I also would favor that they consider their packaging burden. My very small box of medication did not need a large styrofoam cooler for the hour trip needed to my door. I would appreciate their consideration of the environmental impact of their packaging. Overall I am quite pleased with their service and I appreciated the tracking of delivery with text updates and the remote signature component. Very cool! read more

If I could give them 0, I would. The company did not ship my script on time, could not tell me why it was cancelled and it took three phone calls to correct this and have it shipped, throwing off a cycle. Then, I had another script that I drove an hour to pick up, after relying on the hours that their Yelp site listed only to arrive an hour before their actual opening time. I got someone to answer the door and she told me that my script had been cancelled. This was three days after calling to confirm that the script was in and telling them that I was coming in three days to get it. I called the phone number and they corrected the situation immediately but when they asked her if she could open to give it to me, she refused, saying that they had an incident and she can't open the door before 9am. They asked if she could leave it at the door and she refused because she didn't feel safe. I am a 5'1" female and I am an elementary school teacher. There is nothing intimidating about me but it is clear why they have had incidents if this is how they treat their customers. After waiting an hour for them to actually open, she pretended like she was super sweet and helpful and didn't just waste an hour of my time while I had to wait for their errors to be corrected. Don't use this company. If you do have to because of insurance or other reasons, don't go into the office because the control freak behind the desk will do everything she can to mess things up for you. read more

Alto has been nothing short of amazing through this complex and stressful IVF med delivery process. They offer to communicate through text, which is ideal for me as I'm in meetings most of the day. If I reply to med refill texts before 5:30, Alto will deliver same night, for free, (!) to my doorstep by 9pm, even with refrigerated meds. Truly amazing. The delivery drivers are prompt, masked (where signature is needed) and the app texts you with up to minute delivery status. What I love is that Alto's pharmacists proactively text me for updates on dosage/meds based on my clinic appts - helpful when my brain is a bit addled from all the meds :). They are also generally caring and supportive, and offer "unpacking" calls for newbies who need help with the meds. They also provide ancillaries like sharps container and syringes as requested. I can't speak to billing as I am extremely fortunate that my insurance covers most things but the process otherwise has been very smooth. read more

I really like my current pharmacy and going there to drop off and pick up scripts isn't that big of a deal. Having sId that this service was good. Impressed! I had a hard to find medication that I was not able to get filled at any chain pharmacy near me. After trying 7 pharmacies one directed me to try Alto. Not only was it super easy to transfer my prescription, it was fast, they were able to get my medication, and customer service was excellent. They answered all my questions and I had the best experience. The free delivery made it very easy. I don't live in their service area but my office is. They delivered to me in person, in the time frame I was given, and I was even able to track their location so I could meet them. I am extremely happy with this pharmacy and their service! On Feb 16, my driver reprimanded me for not having a safe place to deliver at my apartment complex. When I explained that's why I scheduled it for a time I would be home, he was not satisfied and said it inconvenient and I should mark the mailroom in the main building a safe place. I've had multiple packages stolen from that mailroom so it is not a safe place to deliver my medication. I was waiting outside for my delivery but he did not follow the delivery instructions and went to the wrong address. I reviewed the driver accordingly and messaged customer service as this interaction was extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate. Later that day, the leasing office contacted me to let me know a letter had been dropped off for me by the driver. This is highly inappropriate, dangerous, and downright creepy. I called customer service and was told they'd reach back out to me the following Monday. On March 13 I went to refill my prescriptions and realized that no one had gotten in touch with me so I reached out again. On March 16 I received and email with a photo of someone else's porch drop off. I reached out again in frustration and was called right away. I was assured that this would be handled and that she would look into whether or not it would be possible to avoid that driver in the future. I was told I would hear the next day with an answer from dispatch. I did not. Once again, on March 24, I reach out, finally after over a month, I am told there is no way to guarantee that I will not have that same driver who violated my privacy and safety by returning to my address outside of a delivery. I understand that there may be limitations in the dispatch system but I should have known in February that it was not possible. I should not have to reach out multiple times about a safety and privacy problem like this to a business that is also handling my medical information. read more

My doctor's office recommended Alto. I was using another online Pharmacy and It was ok, but not great. Once I started using their service, I was blown away. The customer service is exceptional and they really know how to communicate. Pricing is great and you can get with a Pharmacist anytime you need to. I have to say that the App is what a prescription App should be! Easy to use, reminders are sent and it's clear and easy to track everything. Only delivered two of my meds. I'm new to alto the prescription was put in earlier in the week and said would process by the 26th. I thought that meant they would mail. I'm wrong that's ok. Im told missing will need to be order but will be delivered on oct 1. Then I'm told it won't be delivered til the 4th. The delivery person left the medicine outside the door. Didn't call and didn't ring the bell. I checked my email after 2 hours and found that we had a delivery. I could have missed checking the email and the medicine could have gone bad because if heat. Please call us next time or atleast make sure we acknowledge the delivery. Thanks! read more

Truly the best! I'm so thrilled I never have to stand in line at Walgreens again. Edit after owner response: Someone reached out to me prior to the response below to review my case. They offered to put higher-tier support on my account, but I declined and transferred my prescription elsewhere. Patients should not be receiving worse pharmaceutical care by default; Alto made no mention of plans to train their support reps better or to prevent reps from lying about the reason for cost increases. I did discover that Alto recently decided to switch from providing free injection materials to charging $100-200 for them; while they tried to pass this off as an insurer issue initially, the rep I spoke to said that it was an internal decision by Alto. And of course... patients were not notified of this change! Original review: Alto started out as a convenient way to get prescriptions that my local pharmacy didn't stock. Unfortunately, after using them for a year and a half, I'm going to transfer out all of my prescriptions. Recently they tried to switch me from a generic to brand name prescription that my insurer didn't cover. No notification of the change - they just pushed the new brand to my app and expected me to pay over $200 instead of $20. They insisted it was due to an insurance change on my end, which was untrue. I spent hours calling my doctor, Alto, and my insurer to make sure they had stock of the generic drug and finally got the scrip scheduled for delivery. Today's delivery day and I opened my app to check the delivery, only to find that they once again bait-and-switched me by changing the prescription back to the brand name for extra money after already charging me $20. I called in yet again to find that they now say they're only able to fill 2/3 of the prescription amount but plan to charge me the same amount as for the full prescription. Then they tried to push out the delivery date even further, despite knowing since Friday that I would be a day late for my medication because of their lack of follow-ups and unauthorized changes. This remains unresolved and I still don't have my medication. This company has turned into an outright scam and is employing predatory tactics to make money off unsuspecting customers. I added my daughter to my account and she needs antibiotics, she's super sick. The script was to be delivered from 6-9 pm today. I received a message shortly after placing the order stating they would not be able to deliver today unless I updated her allergy information which I promptly did. Afterwards I called to ensure they received the updated information and the lady who answered told me someone changed my delivery date to tomorrow from 2-5 pm, nobody told me and I would not have known had I not called. Also, my account is set up so someone has to be here to receive the scripts so the person who changed my delivery date and time without informing me did so not knowing if anyone would be here. WTF. I'm still on the line with Alto pharmacy as we speak with a woman trying to reach a pharmacist to fix what this person did with my delivery and we have been waiting for a pharmacist to pick up for 79 minutes and counting. I am going to report the pharmacy to my daughter's insurance and make sure the individual who changed my delivery is reprimanded at the very least. Stay away from this pharmacy if you want to actually receive your medication and you like transparency. read more

My first time using Alto, awesome experience. It felt personal and was so easy.

Just got my latest monthly Rx delivery from Alto and while it's a bit of a pain that I have to be home to sign for it (requires refrigeration) I was so excited to open it and find that they have done away (hopefully) with the earth-killing styrofoam coolers for my tiny 6"x4"x2" box (which I then have to store until I make a special trip to the styrofoam recycler). I'm not sure yet what to do with the alternative packing they used instead but I think it's a step in the right direction. Now if I could just go pick up the Rx instead, without all the packing and the whole FedEx rigamarole (I think it goes from Issaquah to Bellevue to come back through Issaquah to me SMH) it would be perfect! Oh and I really appreciate that they make up the difference between what my insurance pays on a new drug and the base amount to keep my cost low - thanks Alto! read more

I have been using Alto Pharmacy for approximately 8 months. The important fairly equally weighted categories for me are: 1) cost; 2) ease in managing prescriptions (for me and for my Doctors); 3) on time receipt of meds. I was able to run Alto costs through a comparison of brick and mortar pharmacies near me recognized by my insurance. Combing all possible advantage savings from them, Alto did not always come out the best, but overall it did. The difference was not huge. The other two concerns, more than made it worth it. Different doctors from different types of practices have easily been able to send in prescriptions. The only snag was at the start when a B&M sent in wrong info, but I was able to contact Alto to get that fixed. They have been easy to work with during changes in meds, either by phone or secure app messaging. Delivery is easy to schedule, with phone messaging notices when in route. One downside is that sometimes there are too many messages from them that get confusing if you don't reply quickly enough, but not worth losing a star. The drivers do not seem to be under the "Amazon Prime" grueling route pressures and manage to find my hidden address, or call and follow instructions if lost so I don't miss a delivery. read more
