Have to admit, this place is pretty awesome on every level! The vibes are immaculate and by far my favorite part. Also, when the weather permits it, they leave the front door open so all the fresh air comes inside too and feels like you're getting a haircut outside. During my experience, the weather was cool and crisp and felt amazing while I had my haircut. They do offer several different services, including straight razor shaves and beard shaping. I had my beard shaped and my hair trimmed while I was here and it turned out great all around. Ghael was my barber, and I was impressed from start to finish with his work. I often don't get my haircut; however, when my shorty starts giving me the stank face aka "boy, you need to get groomed soon" look, I set an appointment with Armando, ASAP. Brothas know that finding a barber is probably the most crucial relationship outside your boo and family. I am not an exception. ***** Armando does so many things well: * He starts on time. I have never waited more than five minutes, and from my experience, many barbers at fancier spots don't provide customer service like they used to due to the 'gram. * His fade, blend, and lineup games: Symmetrical, precise, and consistent (granted, I have only visited twice). What more could I ask for? * Price: Even though I know some dudes only drop $10-12 bucks for a dew, many times in my life I wish I spent a bit more so my head didn't look so jacked. Sure, the $35 seems a bit steep, but I get a haircut maybe once every six weeks and have spent $20-25 more on more frivolous things in my life. (Another dog bed? Sure, why the hell not?) I have been looking for a good Barber shop for a while and then I came across Bonafide with their amazing Reviews and outstanding customer service and finally I thought that I had actually found IT, THE spot to get my haircut and I am overjoyed when I finally came around to making my appointment and am surprised at how easy and Professional the site is done so I am overjoyed when the day finally comes around for my Appointment with Alex. And on the Phone they sounded not too hospitable and rather annoyed but I didn't think much of it because I may have been interrupting a haircut and understood as myself being in the Customer Service industry. I show up, on time, expecting not to wait at all because I walked in the door at 10:29 for my 10:30 appointment then when I walk in the door I see only one Barber who is very nice and says that Alex is running a little bit late and asked if I'd like a water and i took him up on it the Vibes were just as shown on Yelp and other review sites, Rowdy Tough and Manly this is the type of place that if you miss a testerone supplement for whatever reason you're on them, just by walking through their doors you got your fix. And then he apologizes and I understood, so then he cuts my hair and mentions that it is his first time doing this and that he had no excuse for this which he did not. Come to find out THAT I WAS MISSING HALF AN EYEBROW. He didn't even care to mention this and I figure that this was why he gasped, He had no excuse for not telling me! Bonafide Barber Shop - Fade and beard treatment - Barbers Near Me - Dallas, Texas

So I popped in to this shop to get a shave. I had about two weeks' worth of scruff on my face and a wife coming back into town that day so I decided I should have a professional give me a straight razor shave. I workout right next to this place so I see it all the time, and wanted to patronize it. I regret my decision to do so. First the things I enjoyed, like the ambiance. This is a very hipster/masculine place, lots of motorcycle imagery, leather couches, exposed wood beams, indie music in the background. All the employees sport the hipster aesthetic, hard. Tattoos and funky facial hair, stuff like that. Everyone I met was very professional and friendly. Now for what I didn't enjoy, the actual shave. The short of it is I could have given myself a much, much better shave in a quarter of the time with my personal beard trimmer and safety razor. I got a nice hot towel treatment, and the foam that was used was also nice and hot. My skin was pretty well prepped for a shave. I also had a towel over my eyes the whole time. I imagine this is done to prevent the customer from panicking upon seeing a straight razor go towards his face. But for all the prep work, this barber simply had the hardest time administering my shave. He would shave off like 5 whiskers, clean the razor, and then scrape off another 5 whiskers. This was pretty slow going but I appreciated his patience and concern not to cut me. He reapplied the shaving cream 3 or 4 times, all of which stung like the dickens on my freshly shaved skin. He also then tried using shaving gel. With the translucent gel, as opposed to the opaque cream, he was able to see the unshaved whiskers more clearly and thus have a better time seeing where he needed to go and where he didn't need to apply the razor. He also ended up cleaning the cream/gel off my chin to use his clippers in an attempt to make the whiskers shorter and thus easier to work with. With all this time, patience, and techniques, he only managed to nick me about four times, while leaving quite a few whiskers around the corners of my mouth and under my nose. To give you an idea of the severity of these nicks, I went straight from the barbershop to lunch with friends and everyone commented on the amount of blood on my neck and face. Good thing I have such non-judgmental friends who were only concerned for my well-being. Perhaps I have difficult facial hair to work with, I don't know. But I found it very surprising that after 45 minutes I ended up with four fairly large nicks and quite a few stray whiskers under my nose and in the corners of my mouth. Even though the barber knocked off $10 for the nicks, I found the price of $25 to be a bit unreasonable given the, uh, substandard nature of the shave. I will also say that the idea, to me personally, of paying $35 for a shave to be a bit ridiculous, even if it was as good as a shave I could give myself. Perhaps I'm just a cheap bastard. Usually I don't write yelp reviews based on a single experience. Perhaps he just had an off day. Perhaps with more familiarity with my facial hair he could knock it out in 20 without any nicks or strays. But this experience was so poor (yet expensive) that I really don't want to go through anything like it again, while wanting to forewarn others of possible issues with this venue. read more

The booking process is ridiculous, the app is chaotic, you submit what time and day you want and someone is "supposed" to get back to you however two days later and still no response. After calling multiple times I finally got ahold of a someone and informed me that I didn't have an appointment scheduled and the barber that I chose was off, (would have been great to know). That being said I had grown a mustache for Movember and won a gift certificate to the Bonafide Barber Shop. The lady who answered the phone when I called for my appointment was quick to accommodate my freebie and got me the scheduled time that I wanted. Since I was early for my appointment I pounded down some Saki at the Wabi House and walked over promptly at my appointment time. The shop is in a nondescript strip mall. The decor is a kitchy mixture of left over decorations from "Twisted Root" and "The Lodge". Smiles greeted me from the lady behind the counter and a gentleman seated near her.
