I've been with Altos for over 4 years. Their doctors are more than excellent and the staff is equally as efficient. I'm 77 years old and their prices are more than competitive. Their vet technicians are very knowledgeable and handle my pets with so much care it's truly incredible. There are some great vetenarians but you need not go wrong or further than Altos. Old stinky building, but the people are fantastic. Their price is great, they get down on the ground, and let the dog, climb all over them. My dog is getting older, they gave us stretches to do, which have really help loosen him up. I had to get a form filled out to have my pooch eligible for pet therapy, they never charged to fill out the form, they tracked down all his old pet records, call the pet therapy clinic to verify information, Altos was happy to help. When he had to take antibiotics, they also gave him probiotics to help with his tummy. When he was licking all the time-I thought maybe he had pain, they suggested heartburn medication, which worked. Wish I knew to try heartburn medication before. We used to go to Parkhill, and unfortunately, their service is terrible now, and my old girl was not treated well. I wish I knew of Altos then, she would have had a much better last year. read more

I gave Altos two stars, because on our first visit, they were nice, took their time to answer questions, and overall helpful. With that said, my dog got very sick this weekend, and had been vomiting for 24 hours by the time I called them. I called at 9:07 AM on saturday, 7 minutes after they opened, during normal office hours, knowing they closed at 1. I wanted to make sure I gave them as much time as possible to either fit us in, or to be able to talk to the vet. When I asked for an emergency visit, they told me they could fit me in on Monday. I knew that I could not wait that long. I asked if they could have the vet call me, to discuss what I should do, and what her best recommendation would be. At 11:30, i received a call from the front desk person, telling me that she wasn't able to give medical advice, but that the vet was too busy to CHAT with me, and that she (the front desk girl) suggested if I was "unsure" i should take my dog to the ER. To say I am beyond appalled that the vet couldn't find 5 minutes to discuss my dog's problems, when he/I am a paying and established patient, would be an understatement. The fact that they don't save 30 minutes a day for emergency visits is astounding enough, but the idea that the vet couldn't even find 5 minutes to talk to me about my dog's problems is not appropriate. My dog ended up having a stay in the ICU at VCA overnight. I recommend VCA immensely, and Bosco will now be going to VCA as his regular vet, as they had time to not only answer the phone but also provide phenomenal care that saved my dog's life. Something Altos wasn't willing to even consider, let alone provide. read more

Being new in town is hard, especially when you have a special needs pup! I'm super happy we found Altos! The staff is incredibly caring and attentive! We sometimes need to day board our extremely anxious dog as he can't be left alone at home, and Altos took the utmost care to ensure his needs were met and he left a happy pup! Bonus - we were able to have a vet checkup while he was there, and I'm so grateful the staff worked with him a little at a time due to his anxiety. If I could give a lower score I would. I am so disappointed with Dr. White. I had an issue with my dog. Medication was prescribed. When the meds were not working I called Dr. White. I was told she would call me back. A couple days go by with no call, I call again. This time I was told she left early but will call me either tonight or tomorrow. Once again, no call. I call again, was told she received my message and will call tonight. No call! Called again and was put on hold for receptionist to check the message board. Was told my message was no longer on the board which meant she took the message with her and will receive a call from Dr. White tonight. You guessed it, NO CALL. This has been ongoing since November and it is now January. I thought Dr. White was as concerned about my dog as I was, but I was VERY WRONG! I'm extremely frustrated and highly disappointed. I would never recommend this clinic for anyone that actually is concerned about the care their pet receives. read more

I needed a rabies and FVCRP shots so we could board our cat. I decided to try this place as it was much closer to our house. We were taken into a room by a woman who never introduced herself (turned out to be a vet tech I think). She did a quick Q&A about the cat and then left saying she would prep the shots and be right back. Then another woman showed up and introduced herself as the vet. Confusing for a first visit! The vet was pleasant and quick with the shots. However, the vet squeezed my cat's hips quite hard despite knowing she has necrosis. Our cat limped the rest of the day though is showing no further ill effects. read more

I couldn't be more disappointed with this vet clinic. I brought my two cats here because the clinic was recommended by my boyfriend, who takes his two dogs here. They rarely returned my phone calls when I would call about scheduling an appointment in regards to my cat's food allergy. When I finally harassed them enough to receive a phone call back, they talked about my cat as a "he" -- my cat is female, how difficult is it to read a chart before you call? My boyfriend tried to get records faxed to a doggy-day care place from Altos, and we had to call about half a dozen times before they actually faxed the records in time for us to board the dogs. I am disheartened that I have to leave a poor review for a facility that is supposed to care for animals, a facility that is very close and convenient to my home -- but my bottom line is, I care too much about my animals to receive less than mediocre care. I won't be returning, spending any more money here, or recommending this place to anyone. read more

I called Altos Vet clinic and they admitted our dog immediately under their care. My dog had an ongoing eye issue so we took him in to get it checked out and for his regular check up. The staff there was so friendly and the vet he saw was so friendly with him. He tends to be shy and hide and the vet got down on the ground with him to make him more comfortable. They tried to accommodate him as much as they could. The first visit went well and it has been downhill from there, with a marked lack of concern from the vet doc in response to a blood test, to her then avoiding coming in to see our cat and us and instead having the vet tech run the visits, to having to ask over and over for them to send records to another clinic, and when they finally deign to do so, the records are incomplete. I mean, as a human, my medical records belong to me and I think it's the same with our animals, so Altos is acting less than legal by either ignoring the request or pretending they sent something when, multiple times, the email doesn't have an attachment. I get they're busy but this is part of running a medical practice, human or animal. But make no mistake, I've gotten many emails reminding me to bring my little guy in for a check up. THAT they have time for, not the treatment, not the follow up, not the taking care of records. It is no surprise then that when people don't do the work I am paying for, I look elsewhere. Yes they're plenty nice, and conveniently located, but they just don't do their job well, which IMHO is being a caring veterinary clinic. read more

Altos is a great place to take your pet. They seem to really care about the well-being of each animal. My cat has had some urinary problems over the past month or so and Altos has been very helpful in getting him to feel better! They have been calling me every few days after a recent hospital stay to make sure he's doing okay, which really means a lot to me. read more

We recently changed vets to the Altos Clinic because we had heard that they were some of the best vets in town. I took my two cats for their annual check up, which of course they hated, but the staff was very friendly and took good care of my cats. They have a resident cat that wanders around, and once my cats spotted it they hated it immediately, like all cats do. My little baby is "special" in her own way - she is very nervous and ancy around people she doesn't know, dogs she doesn't know and basically trusts me and only me. So as an overprotective mother, finding a vet is a hard task but I have been coming here for the past two years since I moved to Colorado. First time I came here the staff was so loving and friendly. Dr. White is so amazing I love her. She is so friendly with my dog and me and understanding of personality. The staff is very understanding also, as I explained my dog doesn't like to be held and the vet tech understood and just took her right back to take a blood sample. Recently moved to Colorado from NJ by way of a year in Florida, so we've had a few vets in past couple of years. Our dog is older, and not typical- a rescue with issues- and this vet immediately put me at ease. From the first phone call where they easily anticipated and answered all my questions, I had a good feeling about this practice. I've been using Altos for about 7 years now, for all three of my dogs and both my cats. They have been great with getting us in, in a timely fashion, and treating all my furkids. The 2 things that somewhat annoy me are: 1) One of the women who works the front desk is AWFUL. She is really rude, and generally acts like she hates animals. 2) They sometimes push meds or treatments that are really expensive, or unnecessary. Other than that, they're great, and I recommend them to anyone I know needing a new vet. read more

Not at all pleased with some of the procedures used by Altos on my now - deceased 9 yr old male cat. They couldn't tell us what was wrong with our cat, after 6 days in a row, and @ $1500 later, so they implanted an esophagus feeding tube the last night, and they were unable to give him food and water through it, yet told us to take him home (with the tube still in him, even though it didn't work) and bring him back at 8am the next morning (since they're not open after 6pm), but he didn't make it, in fact, we firmly believe our cat suffocated from the tube, in our car just a few minutes before 8 that next morning. We understand that cats get sick, and sometimes the Vet cannot tell what's wrong, even after x-rays and ultrasounds, but to send us home with a non-working feeding tube in our cat's body just didn't make good sense...in fact, we feel strongly that the tube caused our cat's death. Not happy with Altos, they should have taken out the tube the moment it didn't work, and told us to drop him off at a 24 hour animal hospital instead. People, do your own research, and do not put all your trust in Altos. read more

I took my cat there who was sick because it was close to my house. They did not help my cat get better, though they charged me several hundred dollars for her treatment, alas she got worse. I took her in to have her put to sleep. They charged me almost $300 for the euthanasia and the cremation. In addition, they did not call to let me know when my cat's ashes were back. I had to repeatedly call them and it was more than two weeks before I got my cat's ashes back. I let the vets know I was not happy having to call after my cat's ashes, their office staff should take more responsibility and show some compassion. The vets did not bother to respond to my complaint. I would never take another animal there. Their fees have their beautiful remodel structured into them as well. Also, how many vet techs do they need? Really, they should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I would never recommend this place! They add on all these additional fees without your consent and then overcharge what you've consented for and then kick you out if you ask questions. THIS PLACE IS HORRIFIC!!!! My dog sustained an injury to his nail on a Saturday, and, having just spent thousands of dollars fixing a trauma to his left hip, did not want to spend the extra money on an emergency visit so I phoned into the clinic and spoke with a gentleman by the name of Ethan. I asked him to quote me how much it would be to do a nail trim and explained the situation. He told me, verbatim, "It can be anywhere from $30-$100 depending if they doctor has to sedate your dog." I explained that I really didn't have the extra money so I was going to wait it out until Monday and bring him in if needed. I dropped my dog off on Monday around 9am and the woman at the desk stated that they've never seen my dog before. I tried to explain that they have, but it was last year as he had diarrhea. The woman, whose name was later disclosed as Carolyn, was completely uncaring and made no attempts to look him up via another way, just: "Never seen him." End of story. I also signed a consent form that explicitly stated "I DO NOT CONSENT TO TREATMENT ABOVE x AMOUTN OF TREATMENT unless contacted for prior authorization" I very, very clearing wrote down $100. Upon going to pick up my baby after work, I was floored when the total came to almost $200. When I asked the aforementioned woman, Carolyn, to explain the break down, she very rudely held up one finger in my face and said "Someone will be right with you." Agitated, I waited for the doctor to explain. She begins telling me that the nail trim was only $38 but her 'fees' were the remaining balance. She went on to say that because my dog had not been seen in the last year, she needed to perform an overall/comprehensive exam. When pressed why, because no other dog needs a complete exam when going in for a nail trim, she became very rude and stated that she didn't have time and could get the office manager to assist me. At this point, lied to, blindly robbed, and treated so poorly, I stated that it wouldn't be necessary and that I wanted to have my dog and would take him to his other vet (the one that performed his surgery). She walked away, seemingly to get my dog, but rather, returned with the owner who then took me into a room and chastised me about not getting pain meds for him (which I attempted to explain was cheaper at his other vet) and how I am an awful dog owner. Furthermore, when I was trying to hold an adult conversation about what I was being billed for, he folded his arms like an infant, called me names under his breath, and told me that I was no longer welcomed at his clinic. If you want to have your hard earned money ripped away for no apparent reason, be treated like you're a child, and be banned when asking questions, this is your place. Otherwise, I HIGHLY recommend that you NEVER, EVER, EVER take you babies here. read more
