I have been with altura Credit Union for more than 25 years. I have recently had a couple of transactions that I did not do. I reported to my bank and they had to give me another new debit card, any how just last week I had someone call me acting like he worked with my bank, he was asking me questions like he really worked for my bank. He told me he would block my card and that I needed to go into my bank and get another debit card. So after a little while, I checked my account and noticed all my money was gone, I did not get any notification what so ever. So I left early from work to go talk with my bank, I had to make a police report and also report this to pay pal. I did everything they asked me. And denied me my own money back. Told me it was my fault because I felt for a scam. I just feel this was not right at all. They should give me my money. I will be changing banks, but do not bank with altura credit union they are horrible with people getting scammed. read more

Surprised to see all those bad reviews of the branch and workers. Must be lots of "Karens". Altura bank has been so much easy to work with, and helped all my needs, Atm's are not too many, but you can use any 7-11 store atm to get cash free of any charge. I closed my bank of america account and am depending on Altura bank for all my financial needs. Went to many branches and usually top notch service. I did meet some bad apples (the new branch on Eastvale) who they should be working for IRS or border patrol with their shitty attitude, but that does not make a change to the fact that Altura is still a unique financial institution that focus on helping its members. Megan at Compton ave branch was amazingly nice, friendly and definitely management material. I do recommend highly this bank and wish them all the best. Their hours are convenient as I get off work at 5 and usually can make it down there to deposit checks by their closing time. The best part of this location is the self-serve stations that allow you to send your deposit up a tube to be deposited. Makes you feel like you're in the future lol. They have phone next to the tube to speak to a teller directly should you have any questions, concerns, or simply need a receipt. I do wish there was security every day during business hours, because last time I was there a sketchy individual was following me to and from my car without ever going inside the bank. It would have been nice to inform security. read more

This credit union sucks. No one can answer a question directly. I spoke to 4 people and each one told me a different lie. On the 11th I deposited a check via ATM. On the 18th I look at my account the check was returned. This is a state issued check. Until now I do not know why it was returned. First they claimed it bounced. When I questioned how a check issued by the state can bounce they changed the story . They claimed the numbers at the bottom of the check are wrong then they claimed they tried to cash it but the bank refused to cash it. Until now the problem is not solved. I live pay check to pay check and this place just screwed me and my credit because I am late on my payments. read more

Since I have to use shared branching as my bank is not located in California and I don't like the one close to home, I drove a bit out of my way to come here. Again, no real tellers, just automated like at the ATM, not a fan. While they did have more machines here and they were a bit faster, i would love to get service by an actual person. This is a huge bank, tons of people working, or not, they just sit around since everyone is forced to stand in line at the machine. This location is so so . The staff ... seem like robots. They take your order, put you on hold, then finish it and 50% of the time, theres a mistake. Yes...on hold... you dont actually have a face to talk to in person. You walk up to an ATM like device, and talk to someone on a phone and see them in a screen. Carlos always goes above and beyond and provides great service. He has a great attitude and you can tell he genuinely cares about each client's needs. I will definitely reccomend Altura to friends and family because of this experience. He definitely deserves a raise and a bonus in my opinion. Also, Meg and Marie are always very nice and helpful. Overall in the three years I have been with Altura, the service has always been on point. I've never had a single issue. If you are thinking of switching banks... DO IT. Tuesday August1, 2023. It was a little after Branch opening after 9am. I entered the Credit Union as I have for many years at several locatio with the expectation of a smooth transaction and professional courteous service. To my demise I experienced for the first time in over 16 years of history with ALtura the most unethical, rude and demanding representation of the Compton Ave. Corona, Ca Branch in the person of ROSA. If that's her correct name. I have seen her there before when I have come in to get change for business and or make basic banking transaction. When I was welcomed by her with the typical" I can help you" I sat down with the expectation of the quality service I had been used to for years. I made my request for change and was met with the first point of resistance asking if I had a bussiness account which I had never been asked before. I have a few accounts to include a business account but I responded yes. Then upon asking for the requested change she immediately told me she could only give me half of what I asked for and I would need to go to another Branch to get the rest. I was appalled by her response as this had never happened before and I knew better. I explained that to her and magically she requested my change order from the " vault". She proceed to hand me a stack of 1's without counting them out. I asked as I always had if she could count them into bundles of 20 which I have requested at all branches I have gone to including this one in the past. She immediately told me she could not. I politely asked for rubber bands and sat and began to separate and count them myself. She asked me to count them somewhere else so she could take another custome. I told her I am a customer and she has not completed my transaction. There was 5's and 10's to dispense to me also. As I sat and counted out my own change and bundle them to my request she began typing really fast as if she was messaging someone about the transaction. Minutes later As I was finishing the count another woman stood next to her as if she was going to address the situatio. I heard her tell the woman I am okay as if she was in a situation that rendered her in need of support. I signed for the remainder of my change and completed the transactions. To say this experience was the worst is an understatement. I am used to a better quality of people in the lioness of service that have the emotional intelligence to serve the customers that intrust Althea with their money. ROSA If that's her name is the worst representation of Altura that I have experienced in the many years I have been with the Credit Union. Her lack of professionalism and intelligence leads me to question the integrity of the Credit Union as a whole. She is a poor representation and I will be reaching out to the headquarters regarding my concerns with her. read more

I've done a lot of business with Altura over the 13 years I've been a member. I have to say, they have been getting worse and worse, and don't show any signs of improving. Firstly, the customer service in this location is very hit-and-miss. Some days you get someone who is firing on all cylinders, some days you get treated like they're doing you a favor. They are also very unprofessional - my insistence on getting good customer service once when I got fed up with being treated like a complete stranger after 10 years of doing business with Altura led the teller to flag my account with the phrase " !!! CUSTOMER IS VERY RUDE !!!" Needless to say, I was not pleased, and if they thought I was rude before, I'd love to see what my account says now. Once my major loans are closed out with Altura I will be switching away to Navy Federal and holding most of my major loans with Partners (the Disney credit union). Banking with Altura seems to be more and more of an inconvenience than anything else. This location (the Corona branch) is always a bad experience. The tellers are hidden behind video screens and air-tubes, and you rarely if ever interact with a real person. Maybe they think that since its on "Compton Street" it needs higher security? Bad joke, but the bottom line is if I wanted to talk to a video screen through a phone, I'd be better served by banking with Chase - then at least I could deposit my checks on my iPhone and not have to track down one of Altura's branches - most of which are rapidly closing their doors. The final straw came when I tried to apply for a car loan through the bank I've been a member of (and had accounts with) for over 13 years. I've had a few credit problems in the past, but despite having a balance high enough that I could have bought the car cash, I was denied for a loan. When I went directly to the dealer, they approved me for a loan at an attractive interest rate right there on the spot, and this was before haggling. My advice - if you aren't already a member, don't join. If you are, switch as soon as possible to a larger branch that will give you better interest rates and better service. There's very little that I can recommend about Altura at this point - the only good thing about it is the online banking is well-designed and the customer service hotline is usually pretty good. Other than that, though, steer clear. read more

When I tried to use this branch to deposit my tax refund to a networked credit union the branch teller accessed the wrong bank despite having my preprinted deposit slip with a completely unambiguous ABA routing number on it in her hands. Then, while holding my driver's license, tax refund check, and preprinted deposit slip she proceeded to tell me that my bank account did not belong to me. I even told her that she was logged in to the wrong credit union and she persisted in being both stupid and unhelpful at the same time. The staff is always welcoming and are always answers all my questions with thoroughness and precision. David opened my account and was nothing but wonderful and told me every detail step my step. Always quick and friendly service when I need to visit the branch. The workers are polite and efficient. Pick up the phone and your Altura representative will show up on the screen in front of you. Transactions are completed and money / paperwork is transferred with that warping machine that commutes to and from you and your teller. Love that there are never any lines here... My only issue with Altura is the phone customer service hours. Many times, I am unable to call with my questions during normal business hours. Their customer service hours close at 6 PM on weekdays and 1 PM on Saturdays (closed all day on Sundays). I understand that this is a credit union and not your typical large financial institution, so they don't have the staff for this. It's my only gripe since I encountered a problem after hours while I was in Canada for a weekend. I faced an inconvenience and was unable to straighten out the issue until that Monday. Horrible! Anytime I try to call to speak to a representative, I am on at least a 45 minute hold. They now have stupid jokes and "fun-facts" to keep you occupied while you are on hold. To add to the frustration, the automated system offers the option for a callback, but the feature does not work! Also it says "Why wait? If you enter your account number you can access our automated billing system." Oh really? Because when I do that, the system tells me it is unable to and puts me back on hold to wait for a representative. Their branches are also always completely packed and you can expect a 20 minute wait just to deposit a check! They cannot setup recurring payments, and their web interface seems to be from 1998. I don't see them being in business much longer. read more

Denise, the manager, is so entitled and pretentious. She is having people lie about having health conditions because she doesn't want to wear a mask herself. I heard her whisper (or in her case talk very loudly) to a customer who was refusing to wear a mask to come in and say, "Just say you have a medical condition and cannot wear a mask because technically we can not refuse service due to that and tell me i know about it i hate wearing them too they are a pain" like how do you tell someone to lie about that eve during a global pandemic that people are dying from! read more
