My main concern was our dogs not being comfortable with the rotation of different pet sitters, so I expressed that concern with Janet and figured out a plan to prepare our dogs. We ended up booking walks for our dogs to meet with the different sitters they may encounter during our vacation. Each walker/sitter we met was equally friendly and our three German shepherds had no issue with either one of them. We received reports after each visit, which we appreciated. What I do appreciate most about Lucky Buddy Petcare is that we're not dependent on one person's schedule while planning. The booking process is super easy through their website. Jake loved his walks and especially enjoyed his time with Janet and Kathleen when they stayed with him when I went on my first trip in years because I would not board him. I told my friends I thought he was two-timing me because he was so happy and relaxed when I arrived home. I also had a dog walker come every day at Janet's suggestion while I was away and I truly appreciate the time and care these young women gave to Jake during that time and his regular walks. Sadly, Jake is no longer with me. He was only six years old but he had a medical condition that was lurking, unknown and undiagnosed until it suddenly appeared shattering my world. My first call was to my friend, a retired vet, who told me the likely diagnoses. My second call was to Janet who told me where the best ER animal hospital was located and provided additional emotional support. Then I contacted Drew and I knew right away she was special - she actually adores cats and her primary concern is getting to know your cats' individual needs and quirks and providing the best comprehensive care possible while putting your mind at ease with daily checks-ins and photos. (She also owns a photography business and you can hire her for an epic pet photo session!) Drew regularly takes care of my guys, whether I'm busy for one day or away for a longer trip. Under anyone else's care, I'd worry about their individual dietary and behavioral needs - I have a picky older cat with anxiety and urinary issues, a goofy black cat with a sensitive tummy and a history of eating inedible objects and getting the occasional ear infection, and a young, spunky one-eyed cat who once had an injured leg. Not only has Drew gotten to know each of their personalities and connected with them like they're her own pets (they greet her at the door), she has expertly attended to their occasional extra needs and has on multiple occasions taken the time to talk me through my concerns about their issues. In addition to being a cat owner herself, Drew has experience working at clinics and rescues and volunteers her time at a cat sanctuary so I thoroughly trust her input and consider her a valued care companion and part of our pet family. They use positive reinforcement for their training method. Midtown Mutts also offers dog walking, 1:1 sessions and pet sitting. My neighbor uses them for pet sitting and she loves them. You pay based on how many visits and the length of time you want them to stay. They take pictures everyday they visit to show you how your pet was that day. Pros: they have a membership and you can choose 1 or 5 classes a month. These classes don't roll over if you don't use them - I made the mistake of thinking they do. They have a calendar where it lists the classes, time and topic. The calendar is a bit clunky and confusing so it takes a bit to figure out how to navigate. If they don't have too many people sign up and you need help in a certain area, they accommodate your request. They have answered my numerous questions and been very patient. I can say my puppy REALLY enjoyed class because he was showered with treats also as a lab, he never turns food down! Cons: if there is a large class and the gym in the same business structure is busy, parking can be a bit hard to find.

My partner and I both work full time and were in a pinch come Monday morning. I Yelped dog walkers in our neighborhood (midtown/ downtown Sacramento), called a few places, and left messages hoping for a small morning miracle. KP to the rescue! KP, owner of Sac Dog Walkers, was the first one to get back to me (just a few minutes after I called) and we set up a time and place to meet about 30 minutes later. We met at a local midtown park and he took his time to meet Toby, walk around the park with him, see his personality. They were a great match from the start. KP has a very down-to-earth, friendly, and trustworthy demeanor and energy. If I had any immediate gut feelings, I would have looked elsewhere. I mean, this person comes into your home and takes care of your furry loved one... gotta have trust! Toby really liked him as did I immediately- so we walked to our apartment, showed him the layout and Toby's kennel, made copies of our apartment keys at Ace and bam- he became our regular 5-day dog walker. It's been 3 months, and we've not had one issue with KP. He texts pictures and videos of Toby every day and even takes him to the dog park with his pup friends for an hour/ hour an a half at no extra charge. He gets to exercise, play with friends, socialize, practice good leash walking, and goes to the bathroom. KP's normal 30-minute rate is $20/ half hour walk, but $18 if you're a regular (4-5 walks per week like us). He invoices every 2 weeks and just leaves the print-out on our dining table. Very convenient. He has also picked Toby up from his groomer and has been able to walk him twice in one day on very short notice when we've had emergencies or just had to stay late at the office. KP even snapped a pic and then cleaned up an accident very thoroughly that Toby left on the couch. Great! I 100% recommend KP if you are looking for someone reliable, dependable, and communicative to come into your home (your home!) and take care of your furry little friend.
