Professional expertise, genuine courtesy and, in my case, a cheerful ear to bend. Reasonable prices, easy access, small business flavor, big business skills. I was in town for 2 months and had no idea where to get my roots done. Fortunately I found this little gem. Alyse the owner very pleasant and Melissa was very accommodating. She did a great job on my hair. The color and highlights exactly was I wanted. The previous week I got a pedi manicure. Melissa was very attentive and again spot on in her expertise. I will be back for sure. read more

I have been on a month's stay here in Daytona Beach Shores and needed to have my hair colored and a shellac/pedi before moving on to southern Florida. I found Alyses Tropical Salon on line and thought I'd give it a try. This is a two lady local shop, and they did a wonderful job on my hair and nails (Melissa). I use a specific brand of hair color and they were able to get the exact formula in. It took a few weeks, but I knew that ahead of time. It was no problem for them, and my hair looks just like I had it done at home. When Melissa did my nails, she did not use clippers but filed gently. Also, she just pushed back the cuticles and didn't cut or "machine" them off. I have terrible cuticles, but this certainly was the best for my nails. And whatever scrub she used on my feet kept them soft for weeks. That is incredible! Thanks, ladies, and hope to see you next year if we come back to this area! When I returned recently for the exact same service, they charged me $80-- a 100% increase from the original price. When I questioned it, I was told the new price starts at $55 and still insisted I pay $80. The owner refused to come out and speak with me, instead sending the receptionist. To make it worse, they even threatened to call the police if I didn't pay the full amount. That's not how you treat paying customers. Some people have no business owning a salon if they can't deal with customers the right way--with honesty, professionalism, and respect. If prices have increased, they should clearly inform clients before the service is done and confirm if that's acceptable--instead of trying to trick people into paying more and using intimidation tactics. I've had blowouts all over the U.S., and I've never experienced anything like this. It was completely unacceptable. I will never return. If you value fair pricing and decent customer service, stay far away from this place.
