I am updating my review as I am super pissed to realize I have spent over $300 for a months worth of lashes! Here's my update: Got my new set 8/17 by Cham $120 and went back on 8/20 for her to add because too thin. I then went for my fill $60 on 9/6. I started losing lashes on one side within a couple days but had to go out of town that weekend so went in Monday 9/16. She started saying something about the other side being too thick and she needed to put on a new set. THEN she had the audacity of charging me $120!! I said I don't have any cash. She said to go to bank and bring it back. I should have stiffed her!! I didn't have the money for a new set and had to do a balancing act to get my bills paid. AND this NEW set is so friggin thin to boot. I think her next appt had arrived and she wanted to get to the next buck. I will NEVER go back there and I will tell everyone I know what a rip off CHAM IS!! Oh & the glue BURNS LIKE HELL. I can't even open my eyes in shower. First off, if you're looking for a great selection of "quality" lashes and techs who know what they're doing, this is your place. This is what they specialize. So if you're a newbie, they'll make you feel comfortable. If you're a veteran, they'll leave you feeling confident. As far as customer service, they're wonderful. Tien, the owner is the best! She's a pro and is my forever go to girl. Very knowledgable, offers suggestions for the best look and at the end of the day always does whatever makes the customer happy. She'll work with you. I went to this salon for the last time. I do not like the pushy sales approach wanting the client to walk out of there flat broke! It is after the holiday and the shop was dead, so after getting a service that I have had more than a dozen times, the price is suddenly doubled! Then a excuse was given that a little more product was used since I waited 2 1/2 weeks for a fill! The product they use cost them pennies as I was previously in the industry, so I am aware of cost. I did not appreiate them padding the price to compensate for their after Christmas lack of business! My family and friends will not return there either as we have all been regular customers bringing them revenue and this is the thanks we get! read more

Best place for eyelash extensions! I have had mine for about a week and absolutely love them! I have had them done by other places and it wasn't worth the price I paid (which wasn't cheap). Alyssa's did a fabulous job explained everything to me about the types, lengths, process, after care, and let me know what I thought would look best. I went online and there was a set price list. I wanted to try the flare for $45. http://www.alyssaeyelash.com/ There are coupons for $10 off, etc. I go there and I tell the nice lady what I want but she says they don't offer that. Then she says all they do is mink, which is $100. I told her a few times, I just don't want it too long, I want it to look natural and the entire time she kept saying, yes, not too long, looks natural will look pretty. So I get it done and it looked insane. But I didn't have the heart to tell her. And when I was paying for it, I saw all of the different lashes and different prices so I felt so duped. The lashes she put on me were all the way up to my eyebrows. I looked like a vegas showgirl. I had errands to run but I ended up going home panicked because I couldn't walk around all day looking like that. I don't know how else to say that I want it to look natural. Just fuller. I look at the other girls in there and their lashes look great. So I paid the $100, then she tells me that if I go in it will be really cheap to get the refill like $13 and the more I do it the more the price will go down. So I get home and try not to freak out. I have to cut the lashes down to look more natural. So it ends up looking better and it was supposed to last up to 2 months, but it's only been a few weeks and they're already falling out like crazy. So I called to get the refill but they said it will be $50 because it's always half of what you pay. Then I tell the manager over the phone what happened but I'm pretty sure she doesn't understand a word I'm saying. They also told me when I had it done that the coupons online were no good. After I cut them down, they did look good. When I talked to them on the phone she lectured me about not cutting them because it looks "pretty" when it's long. So, I know people that go here and it looks good. But for some reason they can't get it right with me. I felt stupid for paying so much then having to fix them myself. It looked good while I had them after I cut them, but now I'll need to start over with a new place. Hopefully I'll be able to find someone that understands what I'm saying and what I want. read more

I found this salon for my eyelashes on yelp. I went early and there was no wait. I wish I remembered the name of the young lady that had helped me but regardless, she was very, courteous, informative and friendly. I had got my eyebrows done one other time and had a horrible experience. This lady was very gentle and I was able to keep my eyes closed the entire time which was great for my sensitive eyes. The glue they use is strong but as long as you keep your eyes closed as suggested, I didn't feel a thing, even fell asleep at one point! They had different options such as the flare or synthetic or natural individual eyelashes to apply and the prices were very reasonable. Once I the job was done, I was surprised to see how natural my eyelashes look. I liked the environment too which had nice soothing music, I'm looking forward to returning soon! read more

I went in there yesterday to get my lashes done and they looked great but woke up with HUGE swollen eyes. I went in immediately the next day and the employees were just as concerned as I was. They took care of me right a way hassle free. And they offered me credit for next time or a refund. So I give them five stars for excellent customer service and caring. I went into Alyssa's for the second time today. I had previously gotten a "mink full set" (about two weeks ago) and I wasn't very happy with my lashes. It was busy and I felt like they stuck me with an apprentice or someone who was very new. She did not ask what type of lashes I wanted she just asked what length, she was very soft spoken and I couldn't really hear what she was saying. Since it being my first time getting my eyelashes done i didn't know what to expect. When she put the stickers to hold down my lower lashes she kept tugging to put them in place (it was a very uncomfortable feeling) I didn't know if that's what it was supposed to feel like, so didn't say anything. By the end of the procedure I felt like I had bags under my eyes from the way she had them taped down... As for my "long mink" eyelashes, there were gaps and didn't look professionally done. I naturally don't have full lashes so I thought maybe it looked like that because of what she had to work with. I was skeptical about going back for a fill... But since I was in the neighborhood I thought I would give it another shot. Luckily they weren't busy! The girl who help me this time was a very open with prices and styles before she even began. When she taped my lower lashes down it didn't feel anything like the first time (in a good way.) This time I decided to change the style to see if it would make a difference or if it was just my lashes. I went with "volume mink" lashes. When she was finished they were very full and I was very pleased with them this time. I wish I would of had this "second experience" the first time I went it. I will continue to go to Alyssa's, hopefully the service and results are the same as this time so I can rate more stars. read more

I made an appointment with ten because of the reviews she has received. I made my appointment about a week in advance to ensure I get ten. I get to the salon and there's like 5 other girls same appointment time crazy. Well a lady calls me over idk any better who ten is etc. So I go they get started and I find out she was not ten after I told the girl who my appointment was with she says "I do for you I do for you" so I'm already annoyed. Whatever so this girl does my lashes I paid 120 for volume and they used so much glue it's ridiculous and my bottom lash was literally glued to and individual lash on both sides I pointed it out and she put a metal stick to separate she just pulled really fast it hurt so I didn't let her do the other side. The lashes were literally glued to my lash not even at the base. And I couldn't even comb them through because of this they are turning different directions and all tangled because of the poor placement of the lashes. Alyssa's is the best place to get your eye lashes done. I recommend making an appointment with Tien. Tien is the best one to do your eye lashes. I always get a lot of compliments after I have my fill-ins done. For me they last about 3 weeks, but if you wear a lot of eye make up you may need to go every 2 weeks. She is very professional and keeps her store very clean. I also recommend buying the condition they sale to put on your eye lashes. It has worked really good for me. read more

I will never come back. I was getting a manicure with gels and they stopped mid service to so another woman's eyebrows. I work at a salon myself and I don't stop mid service doing a haircut to do someone else's color. Talk about horrible customer service!! I was extremely insulted!! And as I walked out the door the lady that stopped my service to do someone else's service grabbed me by my arm with force and was pulling me back in the store telling me not to go anywhere cause she wasn't done with me but clearly you are to help someone with their eyebrows. Not to mention the way the do a manicure is all around incorrect. I myself have a cosmetology license and I've done lots of manicures. Where's your soaking dishes for the hands? My lashes last for quite some time before needing a fill, unlike others where you need a fill within a week. I moved to Montclair almost two years ago and not until last week did I find this salon. I went in for a mani/pedi and will definitely be going back. They have a menu of all the different spa services that they offer. I asked for the pedicure that included the orange scrub. It was an excellent choice. The scrub smelled great and it was great for relaxing after a stressful week at work. The service was wonderful and the staff was very friendly. They also offer the gel manicure which lasts for a month without chipping. read more

Alyssa's nails is a great place! I come here to get manicures, pedicures and waxing done on a regular basis. The staff is always very friendly and they notice and appreciate that I am a frequent customer. The prices are pretty well priced for the services they offer. Although I've never tried the eyelash extensions, it never fails that every time I go in there are at least 1 or 2 people getting them done. The only drawback to Alyssa's is that because they are so good, they are really busy on Fridays and Saturdays and you can potentially wait a long time to get services done. I'd suggest if you go on those two days to call ahead and schedule an appointment. I usually go during the week, during the day and they are much slower at that time! The salon was nice. However if you're just going to get your nails done, I think it's odd that they do it on a couch and stack pillows on top of you to do them. Also the person that helped me seemed like she was just rushing through my full set. Today is day two after getting my nails done and they already look like they need a fill. I told her that I didn't feel like they were right but she was not very helpful. And she left all this residue under my nails when I'm pretty sure they should have looked much better at the end.
