DO NOT USE AMPM Locksmith!!! I used them when I moved into my house to replace all of my locks based on their good Yelp reviews. They ended up breaking a piece in the deadbolt lock on my front door. Pieces would fall off when I shut the front door. I called them to see if they could fix it. The owner came to my house and explained that his employee was very skilled and he would not break my lock. After him arguing with me for several minutes he said he would take apart the lock, but he would charge me a minimum of a couple hundred dollars just to take the lock apart. I refused because his employee broke the lock in the first place. The owner left my house leaving me with a broken lock on my front door. I ended up going to another local locksmith to fix the lock. I told them what happened and showed them pictures of the lock. The other locksmith gave me the part to fix the lock for free. read more

I contacted this company last week to get some work done on a couple of trouble locks on our building in San Ramon. The man who answered the phone was at lunch and asked me to text him the information. I did that. Our appointment time came and no one showed up. I called after 15 minutes elapsed and spoke with the same gentleman I had the day before. He said he would contact the technician and get back to me. One week later I have yet to hear back from him. Meanwhile, the business owners at our building have had to put up with locks that don't work. Wow! Chita was so accommodating and easy to talk to. I called 3 other places and went back to ampm because he took the time to talk w me. Then when his technician Weeja showed up, he was just as nice! We had lost a key to the car and it had been sitting up for a while. Weeja not only made a key in 10 minutes but also hooked up the jumper cables to make sure it would start! Talk about going above and beyond! The Chita calls me after and asked how everything went! I went to AMPM locksmith because I needed to get a duplicate car key for my daughter's 2014 Toyota Corolla. I have been all over the place trying to get this duplicate key without spending an absolute fortune at the dealership (Who by the way wanted around $350... Ridiculous!) I came in to get a second key for my vehicle that only came with one when purchased used, fast and friendly service!

I hesitate giving anyone a bad review, but one year ago they put two new locks in at my home. When they installed one lock they knocked a hole in my sheet-rock. They tried to repair it; however, locksmiths are not sheet-rock people. Now one year later the lock handle has fallen off the door. They may be polite but their skill level left much to be desired. read more

The service wasn't flawless as the computer battery ran out 1/2 through the download for the new key however the owner was so friendly that I actually didn't mind waiting a little while longer. Agree with other posts that the folks behind the counter were friendly, but I brought in a keyed lock to have inspected. They found the problem, but when they reassembled the handle, they stripped the securing pin. Now a $20 solution is going to cost me a $100 to replace the entire lock. What is worse, is that they tried to hide the evidence by forcing the pin into the handle and did not inform me that a mistake had happened. read more

unfortunately while traveling through LA, my backpack was stolen, with my phone wallet keys and glasses. Not only did it majorly SUCK that my keys were stolen, but they were my only set of keys. Used this company for a lockout once before they were ok, took longer than the time frame they estimated me but they eventually got the job done and at a resonable cost, so I figured I would give them a shot to rekey my house and they give me a price estimate and I said let me call around to see what other local locksmiths could offer, called bay lock and key and they were cheaper but not available on the day I needed the work done, then I called ampm back to schedule a more prompt appointment only to receive a different quote by another enployee who was apparently the owner of the shop who apologized forwin correct quite given and told me it would be more, I refused to pay $30 per lock to rekey, my neighbor told me to call dads locksmith and they were at my house in 2 hours, half the price of ampm. read more

Used this place last week to have some keys made based on all the good reviews. I needed 2 house keys made and they were done quickly, and I was able to get a few little key chains and other things I needed. One stop shopping, I love it! Prices were reasonable and, when I went home to try the keys in the locks, they were like BUTTAH! Smooth with no hitches. I used to get keys made at OSH or some other hardware store and half the time they wouldn't work and I've have to go back and have them try again and then they'd still stick. I've since learned that a locksmith is the only way to go, and this proves it yet again. On top of the fabulously functioning keys, the guy actually thanked me for my business and was really nice. I was there about 10 days ago to get a duplicate key and also key fobs. My current key also had an issue that it didn't allow me to lock from outside using the key. I have to lock from inside using the manual knob near door release My duplicate key and key fobs were made but the key problem with door lock still existed. They said I have to take it to a mechanicn to change the actuator. Since then, it was diagnosed that the actuator is not the problem and could be the door lock cylinder or tumbler. I called back asking if they could address it without costing me a different key (because I just spent $75 on a duplicate key). They said they will call back since they have my number. Since then I never got a call nor they pick my call everytime i call. I think they see the number and just not attending it. It is strange that they always picked up before my service and not after my service. I think this is very poor customer service. read more

Great locksmith. The owner is very knowledge and very helpful. I came there originally several years back when I was looking to find a good pad lock. Every store I went to only had those standard master locks for pad locks. Those locks are really easy to pick (youtube or google for more). AMPM Locksmith had some other great choices. Since then I've been back several times. Today I needed to rekey my 2010 Acura. These keys have lots of complexity with chips and signals. The dealer's price was about 2-3 times more. read more

I had a Prius key fob programmed at the store. They charge less than the dealer for programming and I should have purchased the key from them as well to save more money. They have many different makes and models of key fobs at the store at competitive prices and with quick service. I only wish I had known this before purchasing the blank key fob on Amazon. read more

Oustanding customer service! My key snapped in half when I was about to go home after work. My coworker took me to Orchard hardware store, but they couldn't help me. Then I called here 15 minutes before they closed. The owner told me to stop by and he'd be open for me. He and his team were attentive, explained what they were going to do, and quoted me a stellar price for a chip key copy especially for the extra work he had to do. My favorite part was how innovative he was to resolve the problem without costing an arm and a leg: he made 2 copies, 1 with a chip and 1 without. Then he offered to take me to my car where he would use my broken key with the new non-chip key to unlock the system for programming followed by the new chipped key that would then sync to my car's programming. When I told him my coworker would take me back but that I'd follow his instructions, he offered to stay at his store so I could call him if it doesn't work and said he would then drive out for free to help me. The key copies worked perfectly! They even felt like a smoother fit for my car than the original. Haha! He ended up staying 30 minutes after closing time to make sure I was taken care of! I purchased a 2011 Toyota Tundra and like a dumbass lost one set of keys before I put 1500 miles on it. Knowing that I'd need to get another set made I contacted the dealer and found that a replacement key would be $150 plus $165 labor to program it ! Are you kidding me ! Oh yeah, another $150 on top of that for a remote. I was lucky enough to find AMPM Locksmith and found that they'd do a key for $75 out the door, the key fob was also $75 out the door.
