We had them install crash-bars on our entry doors and fix the lock on a side door. Our front door was out of commission for almost 3 weeks. They cut holes in our door that they never needed and never used. They left bright silver stainless steel bolts sticking out of our dark brown front door. I asked the owner to fix this and he claimed "they were there when we started". Not true, and still not fixed. They never did interim cleanup during the occasional day they worked so we had to cleanup the metal shavings ourselves. After they finished you could open our door from the outside by slipping a coat hanger through the big gap and pulling on the crash bar. We installed a hasp ourselves, there's no way we are calling them back again. They did get the crash bars to work eventually. The lock they fixed on the side door was done right the first time with minimal disruption. read more

There are two local locksmith shops that I like to call on -- AMPM in San Ramon and Dad's in Danville. I have used AMPM for car locks, car keys, re-keying of locks I have carried in and service calls at houses in the local area. Good service, fair prices. I have a slight preference for Dad's in Danville, but some times they are booked when I need a service call and AMPM is on my way to the freeway, so a very timely location for me to drop by and do business. Awesome!! Went to OSH, UPS Store, CVS, and none of these places could duplicate my simple mailbox key?! (because it was not in their system)... My remote for my car quit working, I went to the dealer and they wanted $95 for a new remote and $85 to program it and they had to order it. On 3/13/2017, I couldn't start my car with my key. I inserted the key but no click, no response. I called my car insurance for road site assistant and requested towing the car to my home. Don't waste your time or money here! I asked over the phone if they could make a new key for me and they said yes. I arrived and waited in the lobby for 10 minutes before someone even talked to me. I waited around 20 more minutes after the technician went inside and outside repeatedly and they asked for payment for the new key. I asked if I could test the key first and he agreed, and I was very surprised to see that he hadn't even started on my car yet! There was another customer waiting in the lobby complaining that he should have just paid the extra cash at a dealer rather than waiting on this place. Said he was there all day while they unsuccessfully tried to make a key for his van. It took them 1 hour and 10 minutes to finish the key. No apology, no just a few more minutes, nothing. They finally gave it to me to test, and I noticed they gave me back my original key! I swapped for the other key, and the trunk didn't open. I was in a rush and decided it wasn't important enough to waste more time. Then I looked closer at the key and it was more worn from use than my old key!!! I confronted them, saying they said it would be a new key, the manager came out said it's open box and it rattles around in there some. I said is that why the chrome is worn off completely, it's very scratched up, and the buttons are clearly worn from usage? Don't outright lie to me, this crap is used. He doubled down and said they can't be programmed more than once so therefore it's not used. I said no way. If I'm going to buy a used key fob that could go out any day I'd need a big discount. He offered 10% and I told him where to shove his used key and I left. What a waste of time. read more

Early on a Saturday morning, the old, old lock on my front door broke, leaving me locked outside my house. I didn't know if anyone would answer on a Saturday morning before 9 AM. Naturally, I was pleased that someone answered the telephone and dispatched a locksmith. In less than half an hour, the old lock was out and replaced with two new locks, plus four sets of keys.
