Don't waste your time or money here! I asked over the phone if they could make a new key for me and they said yes. I arrived and waited in the lobby for 10 minutes before someone even talked to me. I waited around 20 more minutes after the technician went inside and outside repeatedly and they asked for payment for the new key. I asked if I could test the key first and he agreed, and I was very surprised to see that he hadn't even started on my car yet! There was another customer waiting in the lobby complaining that he should have just paid the extra cash at a dealer rather than waiting on this place. Said he was there all day while they unsuccessfully tried to make a key for his van. It took them 1 hour and 10 minutes to finish the key. No apology, no just a few more minutes, nothing. They finally gave it to me to test, and I noticed they gave me back my original key! I swapped for the other key, and the trunk didn't open. I was in a rush and decided it wasn't important enough to waste more time. Then I looked closer at the key and it was more worn from use than my old key!!! I confronted them, saying they said it would be a new key, the manager came out said it's open box and it rattles around in there some. I said is that why the chrome is worn off completely, it's very scratched up, and the buttons are clearly worn from usage? Don't outright lie to me, this crap is used. He doubled down and said they can't be programmed more than once so therefore it's not used. I said no way. If I'm going to buy a used key fob that could go out any day I'd need a big discount. He offered 10% and I told him where to shove his used key and I left. What a waste of time. read more

This company knows what customer service is about. I called to have a key removed from a dead bolt that had become stuck, and made an appt. a day in advance. They showed up on time, were friendly and after a brief explanation of what I wanted done they proceeded to work which today is not always a given with many companies. The guys that were working on my small project were very professional which increased my comfort level immediately. I will definitely keep this company in my contact list, and already have another project that I want to use them for. I forgot to mention that this was the 2nd company I called to do the work. I had one locksmith tell me my fancy door lock was defective and needed to be replaced... hence, the old lock would not fit into the new door. A second locksmith said that type of lock is prone to problems and has to be replaced. I was about to order an expensive replacement part online, but gave these guys a try as my last effort to make the old lock (which I just couldn't believe was defective) work. The guy at this place was friendly, immediate took my lock, and showed me a small very slick trick built into the lock for spinning the mechanism an extra 45 degrees... thus allowing me to insert/remove the lock into/from the door (that's all I needed).... and he said the lock is very good quality for security. I really like these guys and will use them from now on. Have to recommend them to all I know. read more

I had this company replace the key locks in my car doors, after they stopped working.I was given a fair estimate, so I had them do the work on the spot. They quoted me 2 hours at their shop, but they called (before the time was up) to ask for another hour. They needed another part. I needed to cut a key for a 1980, 440cc Kawasaki. (I had the original key) I paid $7 for it, and the first key they tried to cut was too wide. They tried grinding it down, and broke the key, they then told me I was responsible. After arguing they said come back on another day when someone else would be in the shop, they made me a key that only turned if the front tire was a certain direction. I noticed when I got home the key didn't unlock the helmet clamp. I told my dad and he took his second generation key (a cut from a cut of the original) and made a key after work. During this time I went back with the original key and they told me the back lock was broken and that it would never work unless they redid it. My dad called me and told me he had the key and he was at the Post Office, so I asked him to come over. The recently made key (third generation) worked perfectly. I asked for a refund and was refused for the amount of work they did. I won't pay for incompetence again. read more

So, based on all the reviews I set up an appt to have 3 doors re keyed. Without going into detail the locksmith was rather late. Since I'm human too, I decided to give him another chance and I'm very glad I did. He was more than generous for the mistake that was made and made sure EVERY key was in working order before leaving the premises. I can't tell you how many times I've returned non-working keys to hardware stores. Bottom line. I lost keys to my 2 cars- they both had chips in them and the dealer quoted $60 PLUS $85 for programming per key. A friend referred me to AM PM, who quoted half that and when I brought my 1st car there and mentioned that I also checked them out on Yelp I promptly received a $5 discount and then another discount for the 2nd key. It is great to not only dealing with a company that appreciates your business but does a great job too. Dealers provide a great opportunity for you to pay a lot more...but I have never supported blatent overcharging. With locks I can depend on AM PM for a fair and affordable price! These electronic keys (even those with just a chip in them like mine) are expensive, but why get taken advantage of by dealers?....AM PM has them all. Cost for an extra key is even less IF you have 2 already (saves on cost of programming) so it may be a good idea to consider getting a 3rd as a back-up now. They also have a full line of remotes (and other accesories). I was not planning on replacing a long damaged remote but now will, with some of the money I saved! If I ever need, or know someone who needs, locksmith services and products (auto, home or business) AM PM is the first call! There was a customer ahead of me who had traveled from Brentwood to San Ramon, (over 40 miles one way) due to a referral to AM PM, and she left with a smile on her face and "thank you, thank you" on her lips. One of three keys to my Toyota stopped turning the car on. I went to the store for a replacement. Key - my mechanic told me it was most likely a failing microchip inside it. They duplicated the key, programmed a new remote for me and even synced the remotes to operate the rear window again. I have used them before to rekeying my house and received great service then too. Just had a duplicate keyless remote programmed for a late model Honda. Most of the locksmiths out there charge you a fee to come to you, plus the cost to program/replace the key fob. Not only was the pricing very reasonable, I was able to save that "service to me charge," which is usually about $30.00. I just moved into a new place and have had to call/deal with many equipment and service providers. Working with so many at once makes it very easy to compare, and allows the good and the bad to stand out. This business flat out "wowed" me. They came the same day of my call (wow#1). 2 of my 3 locks were re-keyed lickety split, but the 3rd cylinder was giving them a problem. They didn't give up. They kept trying, exhausting all options - way beyond the normal time allotted for a service call. Eventually, they decided they would need to take they faulty knob and cylinder back to the shop and maybe even replace the entire knob (at no charge to me) (wow#2). I said "okay" but naturally I got nervous that they would ask me to pay them for the 2 they did so far, then I'd never see or hear from them again... right? Well... not at all.... they never once asked for any money. They just left the invoice on my counter and left (wow#3). They next day, O.J. came back with a new cylinder to try. Sadly it too couldn't be correctly inserted into the door knob. They still didn't give up. They were determined to make it work for me. They took it back to their shop again, did something to it, and returned the next day with a working cylinder, lock and knob. So the morale to the story here is that sometimes issues happen with the companies we do business with, sometimes products fail, or things break or otherwise go wrong. That alone does not lose a customer. It's how a business deals with a problem that makes or breaks the relationship. So ironically, it is an issue that gives a company a unique opportunity to make a customer for life... a customer that "Yelps" and "Tweets" and recommends to friends and families, and at cocktail parties. Nice to have this business partner in my virtual Rolodex of trusted companies... I will surely use them again and recommend to others. read more

I was very happy to find a locksmith who could replace my broken fob & cut a new key for my car and then program the key. I was reassured that they replaced these keys all the time, knew the difference between transponder & remote and quoted a price that was reasonable compared to other estimates, especially the very high cost at dealer. I was told that a repair of my broken fob was possible and to bring it in at my convenience for an estimate. AMPM is conveniently located with parking. I was in a big bind and AMPM saved my pathetic ass. I lost the key to my lockbox which houses my valuables; including my checking book. In my desperation I tried to pick the lock with of all things a letter opener. Well, guess what? I broke part of the letter opener in the lock. Then a friend of mine suggested that I try to pry it open with a hammer & screwdriver which made things worse because I broke off the lock. So I called around to a couple of the places on yelp with reviews and no one could help me because they wouldn't be available until Monday...well I couldn't wait 'cause I had bills to pay! Luckily, I saw a sign that pointed to AMPM Locksmith just down the hill from me. I took in the lockbox and explained the situation. I think most people would have laughed at me but the guy was very understanding and told me all my options. Then after I agreed to him just breaking it open (I can't find the key anyway!) he took it to the the tool area and was able to open it up within minutes! He was very respectful of my contents and brought it back to the counter for me to open it up. He also told me about a finger print safe (about $300) which would solve any future situations of losing a key...unless I lost my finger I guess. Overall, very knowledgeable & quick service. I hope never to have a need for a locksmith again (other than simple key copying) but I'm calling AMPM if I ever do! P.S. The guy at the counter had gorgeous ice light olive eyes! Nothing to do with the service but I'd never seen eyes like 'em except in Brazil! read more

He was a little earlier and was very pleasant. He got me in my house in just a few minutes. Then he made me a duplicate key for free. And honored the Yelp discount.
