48 hours later and I am still dreaming about their cured serrano ham with fig salad! This place has incredible food, and fully worth the price, except for maybe the deviled eggs and flatbreads. Just give us the second egg half, and add an inch or two to the flatbreads and you have the best restaurant in AC. Service was better at the seats than at the bar, but we were also seated at an awkward side of the bar, so kind of understandable. Do get the sangria, both are fabulous, we went with the red for dinner and the white for brunch, but both times we had to get the salad. Looks kind of weird but the goodness that is uncovered when you start opening it up is unmatched. Deviled eggs were good, but the octopus was better and a more decent portion for the price. Other amazing recommendations are the scallops -- delicious but they fillet them which is a bummer for cutting corners, and the lamb meatballs were also very good and highly recommend. Amada looks like a high end restaurant, and the service was good. But the food that's where it all fell apart. I am very familiar with tapas. I have eaten in tapas restaurants all over the US and abroad, and traveled extensively to Spain. The food tasted ok, but very much in the way that some chain restaurants have ok food. The portions were tiny even by tapas standards. The only main we ordered was the large size of the scallops. The price was $58 and the dish consisted of 4 small scallops cut in half. They were not even cooked well. Our waiter was great, and handled it well when we mentioned the issues we had. The manager stopped by and could not have cared less about our experience. The drinks were ok, but again not up to a fine dining standard. The restaurant was very loud the evening we were there, but that may have been a few rowdy tables. The food also flew out of the kitchen very fast pilling up on our table even though we asked for the dishes to be staged as we were having dinner with friends and wanted to relax. Came here with my wife for our anniversary. Everything was delicious. We had the mushroom, truffle and artichoke flatbread, the fideleos, the crunchy potatoes, the bacon wrapped dates, and the iberico pork. All phenomenal. Additionally, the service was the best we've had in a long time. Our server, Miro, explained the menu to us and gave us excellent recommendations. Came on a Thursday night for an 8:30p res. I appreciated that they texted me around 8p just reminding me that they stop taking dinner orders around 8:45p. Very easy to forget the time in a casino hotel. We showed up right on time and was seated by the window - looked out at the ocean and the ferris wheel. Service was very nice. We started with the tomato bread (which was like a bruschetta) and crispy potatoes (different from what I expected). Both were very tasty and we cleaned the plates. I liked the crispy exterior and soft/fluffy interior for the potatoes. Tomato bread was very fresh and bright. I had the zarzuela - basically a seafood stew with chicken. To me, the chicken didn't need to be in there. I like everything else except the chicken. Felt our of place. The broth was delicious and savory. My husband's wagyu steak (which was 70 something dollars) was much smaller than I expected for the price. Luckily, the flavor made up for the price, but still. My espresso martini was also great. It's rare that I rate five stars, but Amada blew me away. Had a reservation before seeing a show at the casino, started with a couple of gin and tonics, both delicious. Got going with small plates which were served very quickly-all delicious. It was interesting the way they handled Service; we had two servers who would stop by fairly frequently without intruding. They did a great job, making sure that all of our needs were met. It was a cool ambiance, looking out over the ocean, light music going. This review is specific towards the service from the hostess. The food itself is fine. Our experience: We had a reservation for 8:30 for 12 people on a Saturday night. We called ahead 3 weeks in advance to confirm this reservation, then followed up shortly before the dinner to reconfirm. This was a double birthday dinner so it was important to us that our reservation was confirmed. At around 8pm, we saw a large table that could seat up to 14 empty and available. We asked to be seated there, and the hostess was not interested in helping, just said no and refused to elaborate further. We did not push and simply asked to please let us know when a table was open so we could make our way back over. Come the time of dinner, we are told to wait another 45 minutes since the table wasn't ready. (What is the point of a reservation?) At this point, our group was getting hungry, so we just asked if the staff could push two bar tables together and we would just eat there. It was rather uncomfortable and dimly lit; these tables are for people eating at the bar and to watch the TV's, not for a proper birthday dinner. I have a strong suspicion it's because our entire group was Asian, and not a white-passing group. The empty table that could seat 14 was given to a group that just walked in and asked to be seated, instead of us, who called ahead, made reservations, and confirmed. A waitress even apologized to us during dinner that we weren't able to be seated at a proper table, and that she did not understand why the hostess didn't care to seat us at a proper table and instead gave away a suitable table to a group that walked in versus had a reservation. The fact that the waitress went out of her way to apologize to us shows us that we were valid in feeling mistreated by the hostess. Aside from the problems with just getting seated, the food itself took a while to come out (30-45 minutes). All in all, would not recommend. The food here isn't special enough to put up with vaguely racially-charged mistreatment. As a person of color and still a paying customer, I'm not surprised, just disappointed. read more

For dinner the table shared the tasting menu which included: The CHARCUTERÍA Y QUESOS - which was a super nice selection of options from the chef. DÁTILES BACON-WRAPPED DATES Almonds, La Peral - Well, I take that back, maybe this was the best one! Overall, everything was very good to great and service was a bit on the "too quick" side, especially after being told things would take a while since they were busy. Disappointing Experience at Amada We will never return to Amada. There are simply too many other dining options available. It makes us wonder if the Ocean Resort intentionally hires the most incompetent servers. Upon being seated, our server, who introduced himself as Roger, approached us with an unusual demeanor reminiscent of a character from The Sopranos. While his personality was memorable, it felt out of place. He quickly rattled off the specials and took our drink orders before disappearing. When he returned with our drinks, we placed our food orders. Two of us chose the special Ceviche appetizer, one ordered "Prawns" (which were far from jumbo), and another opted for the Goat Cheese and Fig Jam. The "Prawns" and Goat Cheese arrived, but we were left waiting for the Ceviche. After about ten minutes, as we finished our other dishes, a food runner came to clear our plates and set down fresh utensils. We inquired about the missing Ceviche, but the runner had no idea what we were talking about. Where was our server? Nowhere to be found. The runner went back to the kitchen and returned to inform us that the Ceviche was still being prepared. Frustrated, we decided to cancel the appetizers. Three of us ordered the "special" Salmon over Risotto, while one person ordered a special 40oz steak cooked medium, as promised by Roger. When the food arrived, we received the salmon but no steak. Roger casually strolled by and asked how everything was. We informed him about the missing Ceviche, and he replied, "Oh, I'll get them now." We had to remind him that we had already canceled them, as they wanted to serve the appetizers alongside our entrees. Finally, the steak arrived, but it was already sliced and far from medium. It was practically mooing. We sent it back, and by this time, our salmon had gone cold. The second steak that came out was an improvement but still a hard medium rare. To top it off, the steak was so full of gristle that we ended up bagging it for our dog. When the check did arrive, this Server decided it was a good idea to tell us that the table next door kept ordering items which the kitchen "ran out on." This was NOT just 1 Special sold out, but a litany of Menu Items. It was awkward to hear this from an employee of the restaurant. And he was laughing about it. We're pretty sure the table next to us didn't find it amusing. No class for sure Rog. In summary, our experience at Amada was incredibly disappointing. The service was abysmal, and the food did not meet expectations. Roger might want to consider a different line of work. Just saying. read more

I want to preface this review by saying that I absolutely love Amada (in Philly) and it is one of my favorite restaurants. We've been to the AC location now for the third time and we have always had a pleasant time. Unfortunately this last time we left super dissatisfied. Our party of 11 spent over a grand on our meal. $350 of that was spent on partially burnt paella and $75 on burnt Wagyu. When I say burnt I don't mean nicely charred, like our other cuts of meat we ordered, such as our cowboy steak, shrimp, and pork. I mean so burnt that they were inediblely bitter and basically tasted like soot. We ended up asking them to remake the Wagyu, so the server took it back to the kitchen, but came out and said the chef recommended that we just order a different plate because that's how it's supposed to be. Um, ok. I've had Wagyu many times and burnt beyond consumption is not how it is supposed to be served, but whatever. We decided not to order another plate since we had the giant paella anyway. But, they STILL charged us for the Wagyu! If they were going to charge us (which any reputable restaurant shouldn't) then they should've at the very least given us our steak back! How can they charge us for food that they didn't even give us? This last meal put a bitter taste in our mouths, figuratively and literally. ETA: After contacting them 3 times, they finally offered to refund us ALMOST the full amount of the steak, which doesn't really "resolve" the issue as the manager below responded. read more

My review is SO LONG OVERDUE! This place was quite a wonderful experience, made memorable and personal thanks to a wonderful server we met named Andrew. Andrew was the prime example of upmost hospitality, high quality service, and the impressive knowledge of the Amada menu. He was able to make recommendations upon recommendations, plus, he was charming and very funny. My husband and I really enjoyed chatting and ordering different items from the menu throughout our dinner. We enjoyed the appetizer The CHARCUTERÍA Y QUESOS ( a mixed board of meats and cheese) the complimentary tuna and capers, the Brussel sprouts, octopus, the special cut of black pork, and the olive oil cake. Told the desk that we had an 8:00 curtain and she said we could sit at the bar. I told her we had made a reservation so that we would have a table. She said she would text me when our table was ready . I approached the desk again after 6:15 and she had no memory of me. Went again for my husband's birthday and our anniversary. We went the first day of a new menu. They still had some of our favorite dishes, the dates and garlic shrimp, but no longer have the steak he would normally get, which forced him to try something new. Papayas Braves, herbed and seared tuna, Manchego cheese with truffled lavender honey, bacon wrapped dates, huevos relleno, pernil asado, all washed down with a grapefruit/rosemary G&T for Alice and an old fashioned for me. We were seated right by the window which was super nice with the view (would be amazing during the day but not sure if they do lunch). We ordered things to share. The goat cheese gratin which was more like a salad (see pic) wasn't expecting that but it was good. The deviled eggs were delish. And the pernil was good with the crispy skin but not a lot of meat.
