First off let me start by saying the vibes in this place are unmatched, very old school feel from the second you walk in the door. A big bar that wraps around pretty much the whole first level, tons of bars stools. Drinks are cheap, $5 for a beer in AC is almost unheard in these times. The food was great, got the clams casino to start and it was good, 7.5/10. I then ordered the Chicken parm for dinner, which comes with a family sized salad for the table. The chicken was really good very flavorful and super tender, perfect amount of cheese and sauce on it as well. Pasta was cooked perfect and was very good 10/10. My wife had got the mussels with pasta and that was out of this world. First off the amount of mussels you get is crazy they give you so much. They were cooked great, cleaned really well also. Service was good from the bar as well as when i sat down. Food came out fast and tastes great. They don't rush you they space out the appetizer and your meal very well so it gives you time to enjoy it and not eat your dinner right after you finish the appetizer. For a lover of all things Italian, I'm really unsure how this place has stayed in business all these years. Maybe just the buzz in the name itself, maybe just the tavern, the food wasn't good at all. The food is drowned in heavy sauce and mozzarella. Nothing I tasted intrigued my tastebuds at all. Matter of fact the food was meh at best. I can't believe I waited this long to visit Angelo's Fairmount Tavern. I normally stick to the Restaurant's inside of the casino's when we visit Atlantic City. Over 20 years ago I won a gift card for this restaurant and gave it to my Aunt. This is now her favorite restaurant in AC and she goes there everytime she visits. This was my first time going with her, and I am so glad she suggested it. Everyone was so friendly, and the food was delicious. The Lobster Ravioli had a full lobster tail on the plate and lobster chunks throughout, the sauce was DELICIOUS. Everything there looked so good. I want to go back and try EVERYTHING. read more

Angelo's is a famous Italian restaurant in Atlantic City. We came in to watch the Eagles game. Had to sit at the bar to watch the game. Appetizers were good; oysters on the half shell and fried mozzarella sticks. Our entree's were excellent. The lasagna was such a huge portion that I took half home for later. OG Italian Atlantic City Classic, the food was pretty good but my dish with a Lemon Butter sauce lacked much flavor so I had to ask my server for lemon wedges and had to sprinkle some salt on it to make it come alive. The salad that came with it was fresh and delicious. Gotta say, if you order ANY of their Chicken Cutlet dishes, make a "mini-sandwich" of it with the small Italian bread rolls they give you. It was NEXT LEVEL that way! The staff is professional and most have probably been working there for awhile, I was a first timer and would've appreciated a more welcoming experience. But I kind of felt as if I was having dinner at a diner - there's nothing particularly special about this place, no Italian music or Italian feeling and that's what I was hoping for. All in all, I'd go back but if you're looking for something fun, eating at the bar is a bit boring and I'm used to a more "engaging" experience but few at Angelo's seemed too interested in engaging, it looked like they were eager to just get back home. I hadn't been here in many years but it was just as I remembered . We put our name in and had a seat at the bar while we waited. She had the dirty martini and I had a rum and Coke. I ordered the chicken Anthony and she had the Vodka Penne. We got a carafe of the house red and we both got the house salad and bread. The wine worked for us both. Not too dry, but not too sweet. The house salad was good and came with the house Italian dressing. The main dishes came and my Chicken Anthony had two chicken breast covered in lump crab and provolone cheese over capellini in a Rosa sauce. It was really good. She loved her penne and the grated cheese was more like little pellets than a grated powder. It was all very good. We shared the layered chocolate cake and it was a perfect ending. *This review specifically pertains to hosting a banquet at Angelo's.* Despite being a south Jersey native my entire life, I had never been to the iconic Angelos Fairmount Tavern. So when my mother decided to have our family reunion luncheon here in June, I was so excited to finally be able to experience it. She booked the banquet facility site unseen, so when we arrived to set up we didn't know what to expect. After being led through a maze of rooms and up a few flight of stairs we arrived in our party room, which was filled with natural light, tables were set with silk floral centerpieces, and the servers were ready to assist. Denise and Barbara were so helpful the entire time. We started with the mussels and roasted peppers with provolone. Bread was brought to all tables and our family loved the mussels. I personally don't eat them, but the peppers were a great start. House salads were served family style, but I was too busy socializing to have any. My husband and mother said it was very good. Our family had a selection of four entrees, all served with pasta. I opted for the chicken parm, which was your classic style chicken parm served with linguini. A cash bar was provided right in the banquet room and there was plenty of space for our family to take a large family photo. Cannoli and coffee was also served for dessert and there was no cake cutting fee for the cake we brought. Was in on the Friday night going into Memorial Day Weekend. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait, but we were seated a couple minutes after arrival. Staff were friendly and our food and drinks came out promptly. The eggplant parm appetizer was good. I was expecting it to be breaded and lightly fried. Still recommend! I had the lasagna and meatball. It did not disappoint. The lasagna didn't fall apart as I cut into it. It had a good amount of meat. The sauce was nice. I saw reviews where the meatballs were mostly bread, but that wasn't the case with mine. My friend got fettuccine Alfredo and was pleased. I had a medical emergency during my visit causing me to temporarily lose consciousness. The staff acted extremely quickly, calling an ambulance immediately, and brought me what I needed in the couple minutes between me coming to and walking out to the EMTs/paramedics. Angelo's has been around since the 1930s -- and there's a reason why... because it's amazing! Angelo's has been in AC since 1935, so when something is around for that long it's always a good sign you're in for a great meal. We started the meal with the calamari. This is a must order. They are perfectly fried, not chewy and the sauce is so good. For dinner I went with a special that was salmon and shrimp over pasta in a lobster sauce. Holy cow this was to die for. My boyfriend got the lasagna and this totally hit the spot. I had a very disappointing experience with this restaurant due to extremely poor management and lack of accountability. I called twice to make a reservation (two weeks in advance) for a party of 14--once to schedule it and once again to confirm. Both times I was told the reservation was set. When our group arrived, we were told there was no reservation on file and that we would need to wait. As we waited, we repeatedly watched multiple groups of 6 and even 10 people walk in without reservations and be seated ahead of us, while we were completely ignored. Our group waited nearly 50 minutes, growing more frustrated and hungry--especially my special needs brother, who was becoming increasingly upset due to the situation. After seeing no progress, we asked to speak with a manager. Even then, we were made to wait an additional 10 minutes. When the manager finally came out, he was rude, dismissive, and acted as though we were in the wrong. He even tried to shush us while we were calmly asking for an explanation. He told us they were "opening the room in the back for you," which raised the obvious question: why wasn't that done when we arrived nearly an hour earlier? No one took responsibility for the mistake. We were not offered a sincere apology, let alone any compensation for the inconvenience. The entire experience showed a complete lack of organization, communication, and basic customer care. Once seated, our waitress was very kind and the food was ok but the cons outweighed the pros for us. Whoever is in charge of reservations needs to be replaced! read more

I was watching the tables around us when I noticed them finally getting their salad course we had been there an hour and that meant ours would have to eventually come out. What a horrible experience after so looking forward to eating here on our anniversary, having just flew in from Florida. First off the calamari' appetizer was crap! Seriously one of the worst if not thee worst ever and I've had a lot. But to top it off along with shitty service, my gals entree had a huge string of hair in it!!! (So wish I took a picture). This is actually a 3.5 score. 4 of us split order of meatballs and broccoli rabe for appetizers. Two meatballs but are very large so that was enough. They were good and moist. Not the best meatballs but worthwhile. The broccoli rabe we asked to add sausage to and it was very good and plentiful. Entrees were stuffed flounder which was good but a little dry. Good size portion. Broiled seafood combination which was described as very good, scallops were plentiful and very good. One entree of steak Angelo which was huge and our friend loved it.
