a cozy spot in a very big traffic Main Street for sure. The service was great, the waitress was very up on selling the menu and making sure if needed anything, even when group came in after me, I was still being helped. So for food, the salsa was fresh and delicious, definitely that loving hand homemade, the chips themselves were alright. So for the pollo a la diabla, the chicken could been bit more tender, for portion though got plenty of it, and thick cuts as well. The spicy sauce, I liked it in said doses, since it tasted more tangy than spicy and smoky at times. I think shrimp version of these would held up better. For the rice, I felt it was really under seasoned, but otherwise cooked great. For beans, very good and love cheese on top to add bit salty. read more

For what it is a local eatery that's not terribly expensive; I was pleasantly surprised the food took a while but only because I could tell it was freshly made ....everyone in our group enjoyed what they ordered my soup was delicious then my taco salad was perfectly done I had a taste of my son in laws tacos and my daughters burrito delicious. Whenever I visit from San Francisco to Washingtonville, NY to see my family, I always stop by Amadas for breakfast and they never disappoint! They are such a favorite that my partner and I decided to hire them to cater a birthday parthy for our 1 year old in NY and we are so happy we did! My husband, children and I, visited the new location of amadas kitchen over the weekend. The place was almost empty and the ambience felt rushed and heavy. They don't give you complimentary chips and salsa, so we ordered guacamole and chips. The frozen margarita we ordered was sweet and had no alcohol. The fajita has no flavor and chicken, steak and shrimp were undercooked. Overall it was not a good experience and we will not be returning. read more

After reading reviews I was excited to try this place. A friend and I went and she was itching for a burger and we saw that the menu had both Mexican and American specialities. Perfect! We decided to split an order of chicken chilaquiles as an appetizer. She loved them, I thought the chicken (chopped) was just ok, sauce ok. She had her burger and did enjoy, I ordered chicken quesadillas and basically received onion quesadillas. There was a sprinkle of chicken and pepper in each piece but mostly there were onions. The salsa was a bit watery and all I could taste afterwards was garlic. The service was great as were the margaritas. Not sure I'd go again, but maybe just to try a non-chicken dish. read more

Worse food I've ever had. Don't be fooled by the ratings, they are definitely altered. We were hungry After leaving the LEGOland resort, and we were craving Mexican. This popped up as 41/2 stars. First thing we had were the Stale chips, with watered down salsa, then raw tortillas for the quesadillas, that we ordered as an appetizer. Beans straight out of a can, flavorless rice, the only thing done to my table's liking was the French fries, and chicken tenders, according to my 3 boys 12 and under. We ate because, we were starving, supposably they took off the quesadillas, off the bill of raw "freshly made" corn tortillas for, the corn quesadillas. Our bill was 75 dollars. I still tipped well, 15 dollars bringing my total to $90 because after all it's not really the waiting staffs fault that the food sucks! Unless of course the waiter was the owner and won't get quality cooks in his kitchen. I chose the high road because I choose the damm restaurant! We should have walked out after five minutes of being there, when the waiter broke not 1 but 2 glasses full of ice, right next to my 8year old. We are California natives, so this was worse than a wet soggy taco, from taco bell out of the garbage. I think our waiter was partly owner or something...but I decided to treat him like an un-knowledgeable part of the worse food I've ever had, and definitely don't trust the photos on yelp, for this so called Mexican restaurant. read more

This small & mighty restaurant is definitely worth a stop if you are ever in the Washingtonville area! The menu is huge (focused on Mexican options, but with some American stuff too), which kind of made us nervous at first... but everything was seriously so fresh and delicious that I really doubt that you can go wrong with whatever you choose. To start off, we were given complimentary tri-color chips and salsa - the salsa was just the right amount of spicy and highly addictive. I ordered the Mexican Salad which was HUGE - I could have made three filling meals out of it! It was packed to the brim with rice, black beans, chicken, cukes, lettuce, cheese, and more, and served in a giant corn tortilla bowl. It was one of the most filling and satisfying salads that I've had in a while. My husband got the chicken fajitas which looked SO flavorful and juicy (thumbs up from him as well!). I also spent plenty of time peeping around at what other patrons around us were ordering and everything looked truly amazing. Plus, it was FAST. Our entrees were out to us within 5 minutes of ordering! Service was wonderfully friendly. Oh, and prices were not bad at all for what you got - we came away stuffed with a delicious dinner for under $30! If you're coming during a busy time, do be aware that space is fairly limited (about 6 tables in total), but they offer take out as well. This was our first visit to Amada's for lunch but it will not be our last! It had been highly recommended by a local friend and I'm so glad we made the trip. I had the beef chimichanga, my husband had the chorizo chimichanga, our friends had the taco salad and tostadas. Every one of us were so pleased with our meals. Not only were they tasty but they were large portions so we felt it was a great price. The waitress answered our questions about some dishes and was so friendly and outgoing. What a fantastic little Mexican restaurant. Came here not expecting to be impressed and left very impressed. The staff was warm and friendly and very attentive. The owner was a real hard working lady who really wants to do the right thing by her staff and customers. Well she can count me as one of her customers now. The food was amazing. I had beef empanadas, plantano maduro , a couple of beef tacos , caramel and vanilla churro. All while I sung karaoke and heard amazing singers sing into the night in a lovely outdoor tent in a great patio. The place was packed even outside. Had heard of this place but never went until some friends suggested we go. We sat outside and enjoyed an evening of karaoke - it was a very nice setting and it was a beautiful night to eat outside which we rarely due. I had two pina coladas which were very good. I appreciated the menu as it had not only Mexican fare but also Spanish fare as well. We shared some beef empanadas and some platano maduro (sweet fried plantains) and I had the pernil (pork shoulder) burrito and it was fantastic. I was just bummed it didn't come with rice and beans. We had some vanilla and caramel churros at the end which were also very good. The only drawback is it takes a while for food and drinks to come out as there are only so many servers but I guess it's to be expected since it's a small kitchen. What a gem in the heart of Washingtonville. I heard the food was good, but I think I just imagined that good would mean "good." I was actually amazed at how good it truly was. I had the huevos rancheros with a side of empanadas, while my daughter had the veggie omelette. Both were incredible. To say that this was the best huevos rancheros dish I have ever had would be an honest assessment. Green chili sauce made the meal. It was hot and fresh. The place is quaint and the prices are reasonable. The empanadas are pretty good. I wish it came with some kind of sauce, maybe chimichurri sauce? The tacos are the real authentic Mexican tacos,not the Americanized tacos that is loaded with cheese and sour cream. Churros are great. It comes with different fillings. They have a nice selection for breakfast as well. I would recommend the items on the breakfast and Mexican menu. A small mom and pop shop. Parking is the only issue this business has. It's smack in the middle of a small town and there's not much street parking although they have a back lot which is usually pretty occupied from all the other local businesses. Food wise excellent. Stopped in yesterday 10/25/18 for the first time and ordered 3 small tacos and a bottle of Victoria beer from Mexico. Mexican dishes made with wholesome vegetables and tasty chicken, beef, pork, etc. I was served by a young, speedy waitress who got the fresh cooked meal almost immediately from the kitchen Special Mexican dishes featured every day usually 4-5 ready to go. Amanda is very personable and has been opened for 3 years. Very busy at lunchtime with a constant flow of local office workers picking up takeouts, which tells you a lot about Amanda's prices and quality. read more

Great clean little restaurant. BIG menu and nice, accommodating staff. Hubby ordered Hurache with chicken and I ordered Huevos Ranceros over medium. The Hurache was fresh and chicken was a little dry....but tasty. Nice sauce drizzled over the fish. Eggs Rancheros were good although not traditional....so beans and rice and eggs were served alongside each other instead of stacked. Corn tortillas although I prefer flour ones were ground fine so were acceptable. Also lots of save on the eggs so if you prefer you may want to ask for it on the side. The meat was tender and cooked perfectly. I definitely judge a place on whether the milanesa de res is tough or tender. My husband had sopes which where so tasty. We had Coca Cola and jarritos. It's been a long one since we had real good Mexican food and we will definitely be coming back. A great addition to the small town of Washingtonville New York. Authentic Mexican food, cooked fresh to order at reasonable prices. My personal favorites are the Heuves Rancheros for breakfast, and as I am gluten-intolerant I order the chicken burrito for lunch or dinner without the flour tortilla substituting two corn tortillas on the side and they are very accommodating.
