DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON FOR MANI AND PEDIS!! They are completely over priced. I did a walk in and receptionists stated that she will sit me with the best and she is completing a service right now and she will give me a call in 45 minutes. Never got the call. I returned within an hr. She apologized and sat me with the technician. I requested a pedi with gel!!! She explained that regular pedi and polish is $55 and with gel $70. Okay, no problem. I again requested the gel and pedi. She did an awesome job on my pedicure, and she polished my toe nails with a polish called (gel), still did not think anything of it, if anything she misunderstood what I requested and worse case I will just pay for the regular versus the (gel.) I had already paid for movie ticket and still needed to get dinner. The technician literally polished my toes with the "gel" polish with 3 coats and states she is done. Okay, again, no problem. I politely gathered my bags and went to the cashier. She gives me a total of $78!!! After 5 minutes of conversation on how this is not "gel" on my toe nails, this is polish!! I had to bring up a picture on my phone to explain to her what I had requested (mind you, this was my second time coming and the first experience was superb!) I had such a negative experience here I had to create a Yelp account to warn people. I have been to this salon twice and the service was horrible both times. The first time I went was during Christmas time with one of my girlfriends and we were going to get our nails done. I called ahead of time to make an appointment. They were shocked when they saw us as we were young, 17. When we showed up at the time of my appointment they told me that they were not ready for me so my friend and I sat for nearly an hour and a half until I heard one of the ladies ask if we had arrived. The lady in the front kept me and my friend waiting on purpose and the one that was going to attend us wasn't even aware that we arrived EARLY! Not only was it overpriced but it should have been a red flag. The second time I went was for Prom. I got there early and thankfully they attended me right away. My appointment was at 12:30am. (I have CURLY HAIR!). The lady told me that I had to wash my hair even though I told her I previously did. When I showed her the hairstyle I wanted she tried to convince me to have my hair up in an updo. I asked her if she could do what I wanted and she said She would "TRY". (ANOTHER RED FLAG) She ended up blow drying my hair and then kept me under the hair dryer for 45 min, because she advised this would keep my hair straight. I advised her to straighten it before she curled it because my hair never lasted with just a blow dry. She said no because the curls wouldn't form. Long story short: They charged me for washing my hair like 9$ when I was not made aware that it was an extra cost. My bill was over 150, and they took so long if I complained I would have been late to my event at 6. My hair didn't turn out like I wanted at all! I wanted a 1920's hairstyle and she gave me Simple curls. And I was there for 4 hours! 30 Min out of the salon my hair frizzed and the curls fell because like I told her! My Curly hair doesn't last with just a blow dry. My prom started a half hour after I left the salon and my friend ended up using her personal curler and curled my hair in the hotel bathroom. She did a better job than the STYLIST. My tip: IF YOU HAVE CURLY HAIR DON'T COME HERE THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH IT. read more

I will never spend money in this salon again... and I suggest that you don't either. Afterhaving an appointment scheduled for nails and pedicure, I was asked to wait because the technician "needed to have her coffee first". 45 minutes later she decided to do my nails and did an AWFUL job... she filed and painted them like a child would. When asked to correct them she gave me an attitude saying "you should have said something before I painted them"... The staff is rude and snobby, the services are overpriced, and the management does not care whether you liked the outcome or not... as long as you pay. HORRIBLE TENER CUIDADO!!!! Beware of the prices they do not have a service menu with prices or at least that's what they told us! Since when is a 10 minute men's pedicure $50 that didn't even include a massage!? The scrub the used on my feet was far too abrasive and left the tops of my feet with broken blistered skin! As you can see in the photos I will be posting! My girlfriend also got her nails done and her acrylics were not up to normal standards! It also took way too long we get our nails done together quite often and I've never had to wait 2 hours before. In conclusion, amado amado salon is unsanitary, dishonest and they shouldn't have let my girl friends nails the way they did! I ended up having to take her somewhere else to get them redone and it only cost $20 for a shellac and fixing the acrylic fill unlike the $170 we were charged at amado! BEWARE Tourists and anyone else! Amado Amado Salon is a complete and utter rip off! They charged my boyfriend and I $170 for a polish change on my toes, a fill and a men's pedi. That's insane and not only that they don't have a service menu with prices and they kept jumping around with prices when we were checking out. They tried to tell us tax in San Juan is higher than the states and was 30%. We asked to speak to a manager they said they didn't have one working and that they couldn't reach them by phone. As we were walking out another client of the salon said "you have to be careful of tourist prices." We got totally ripped off so we hope all of you reading this don't make the same mistake because all in all they did a sub par job leaving my acrylics extremely thick and uneven. In addition to that whatever scrub they used on my boyfriends feet left him with blisters and scrapes. Leads me to think this place isn't as sanitary as it could be either. We're from the states and typically the tubs you put your feet in are lined with a plastic and charged between clients here no disposable liners were used. The same calus remover that was used on my boy friend they were going to use on me and all they did was rinse it with water, when it really should have been sanitized with antiseptic or heat. I will never go back to this salon. When I made my appointment I was quoted a price and that amount is not what I paid. I had my nails and hair done. My cut was good but my experience with the first woman who did my nails was horrible. After a hour of her trying to do my tips she finally gave up and I had another person finish. I tried to speak to the manager about the situation but she didn't want to hear about my concerns. I do not speak Spanish so she had another person translating for her. She would not even look at me and was very rude. I paid over two hundred dollars to this salon and left feeling very frustrated and taken advantaged of. read more

Extremely expensive!!! They also charge a fee for every single service of $7. If they make a mistake on your hair, they fix it but they will charge you for that mistake. Oh, God! my bill was $300 for a cut of less than half inch, shampoo, color, and highlights. For me it is hard to find someone who does a good cut and I found that in Amado. I love this place and what they do to my hair. My only problem is that it seems like they do not respect and value people's time. They will book more than one person at the same time so the stylist will be working on two people at the same time. I always have to wait like 30 minutes after my appointment time because the stylist is still working on someone else. Then once I have my dye on, the stylist takes another person and I have to wait until he or she is done to continue with me. A visit that should take not more than 2 hours ends up with me being in the salon for about 4 hours or more. I would not mind so much if it was cheaper but for their prices I would expect more professionalism and respect to each one of their customers. read more

I had gone in December to get my hair colored at Amado's San Patricio location. They quoted me 60.00 for the color. By the time i walked out I had paid almost $150.00. They charged for everything there. I had to return two days later because when I got home i could still see my roots. They did fix it for me but charged me $70 plus tip to blow it out after they fixed the color. In January I was walking thru Plaza Las Americas and was looking for another salon, saw one there, went in and they quoted me for my roots. They gave me a robe and placed me in a chair then I waited for 45 minutes for the stylist to mix the color. He told me that I had to correct my color because I now had four shades and the previous salon had ruined it. I agreed and he also advised that my haircut was horrible, though it was only 8 weeks old. I allowed him to trim it. Long story short, he lopped off abut 5 inches and I had pieces hanging and stray long hairs. I had to go to another salon to get the cut fixed. I was charged for color, some treatment that I never agreed to, cut, blow dry, hot iron all for $250.00. As I was leaving the stylist asked me who colored my hair in January. I learned then that it was their other location in San Patricio. DON'T GO HERE. they will ruin your hair and rip you off. read more

a stylist there turned my hair orange, and then to fix it upon my request, she turned it a greenish brown. i did not notice the greenish tinge in the brown until after i left the salon. otherwise, i wouldnt have paid about $150 to look like a dirty elf. furthermore, the manager was most unhelpful when i complained. read more

I give this one star cause the app wouldn't let me give it none. This salon gave me a perm and burnt my hair to a crisp. My hair was halfway my back and I ended with a hair cut that made me look like a wet poodle and still burnt hair left after, more than ten inches of hair were cut. I spoke to Mr. Amado which after the $150 I spent, never even got a refund and he said that he could give me one free treatment. I had to go to another salon and in a period of less than a year my hair got cut 9 times, until all the damage was gone. I ended up with a pixie cut. What hurts me the most is the way Mr. Amado dealt with the situation, I lost practically all my hair and he still charged me like it was my fault. I tried suing him but Lawyers here in Puerto Rico apparently don't take cases regarding women's hair seriously. It has been 8 years and I will never forget, the mistreatment, lack of sense and empathy, carelessness, ignorance, bad service of that salon, what a shame to our island. read more
