Excellent service! We had tried to replace our hot water heater over the weekend but the pipes needed work. We reached out on Sunday, and first thing early Monday morning, we received a call back. We came home on a Saturday after a day in Sacramento to water running out underneath our garage door. These things always seem to happen on weekends and holidays for me. Once inside, we saw the pipe above the water heater had apparently rusted through and was spraying water all over the place. After a quick application of some sealant tape which just slowed down the leak, I called Amador Plumbing. Mike, the tech, called me back within 2 minutes. He said that he was booked for the evening but could come out first thing in the morning. Mike called when he said he would the next day and was at our house 30 minutes later. He got right to work. He noted that the previous plumbers who installed the water heater "jerry rigged" the piping and used cheap materials. Mike installed new brass pipes and fittings and replaced the expansion tank which was all but shot all for a reasonable price. We had to pay a $125 "after hours" fee but felt that it was well worth it to stop a messy leak that had already ruined many stored goods in the garage. After hours of trying we finally gave up and started to call around, knowing that we were in trouble since it was the weekend. This company was sent by my home warranty to look at a possible leak at my house. The guy they sent have no idea how to check for leaks and insisted that my leak is very very small, he concluded my problem wasn't worth fixing because the leak is only one gallon a day. The funny thing is a more experienced plumber diagnosed the leak and found where it was coming from and told me I was actually leaking 1 cubic feet per hour. What a difference, I'll make sure my home warranty never send this company to my house again. read more

Had a shower with no water pressure and they came out in less than 48 hours. The plumber (Logan) took logical steps to diagnose the problem (which turned out to be more difficult than I imagined). He consistently took the logical, least expensive approach and eventually we had to go into the wall to fix the problem which he was able to do with minimal damage to the wall. His determination to get me fixed up as quickly and cheaply as possible was SO greatly appreciated. In the end it wound up costing me about 1/4 of what I thought it would be. I'm happy to give my first 5 star review to Amador Plumbing. I had a septic system disaster on my hands. I had a clog in my line somewhere, and sewage had backed up into my shower and bath tubs. It was all bad! I called Amador Plumbing and within two hours Mike was there at my house getting a handle on the situation. Shortly after that another two men were there digging up pipe. They installed a clean out, snaked my line, and ran a camera through out the line to make sure everything was taken care of. All of this for what I consider to be a very reasonable price. We had just finished our kitchen remodel and we were having issues with a leaking garbage disposal and a leaky "temperamental" dishwasher. I called and within an hour I got a call back from Rob who advised me that Nichole would be calling me after she was done with a job she was currently on and her gave me a timeframe as to when she would call. Expect the price to be too high. Expect that you will have to argue and negotiate hard to get a fair price. Be willing to walk away and figure out how to fix it yourself. Plumbing is not brain surgery. IT is water going in a pipe sometimes with pressure regulators. My experience was one hour to walk around to look at the problem. I dug up the area that needed to be repaired and they spent 30 minutes to cut a small line and put a short extension with an outside faucet. Maybe 20 dollars in parts. I had to negotiate very hard to get a fair price and was willing to fix it myself if the price wasn't fair. Don't expect a reasonable price. expect it to be high and fight to bring it down to what is reasonable and walk away if it isn't . I understand today some people can't even figure out how to replace a wax ring under the toilet but it is not that hard folks. If a sewer line needs replacing, you wont be able to do it. IF its a water heater or small leak, it can be fixed at a reasonable price or do it yourself. That's my experience . . read more

After a load of laundry, our wash room was flooded. We tried clearing the drain ourselves without success. A friend came over to help, but was unsuccessful as well. We called Amador Plumbing and Jeremy was sent out to clear our laundry drain. Jeremy tried as hard as possible to run a snake through the drain, but ran into "meat" so we thought there was a rat or other critter stuck in the drain line. Jeremy stated that Amador Plumbing would need to return and either cut the external line or open the wall and cut the internal line in order to remove the blockage. There is no clean out for this line. Ron and his crew, Curtis and Jack, came and tried clearing the blockage with a snake without success. They cut the external line and used a camera to see what was blocking this line. They saw scales not fur. They opened the wall, then the line, and Whoa! A 4'+ dead rattlesnake was pulled from the line. This was a first for Amador Plumbing and for us. Our extreme appreciation and gratitude to Amador Plumbing for doing an exceptional job! We will definitely call Amador Plumbing for any future plumbing issues. read more

Started at the bottom, went downhill from there. Tried to charge me $185 for a simple drain clear (claimed I didn't have an outside "clean out" -- huh?). Doddering old guy came over, without putting down towels or anything, opened the undersink pipes -- a gallon or more of filthy sinkwater spilled all over the cabinet. "Guess I shoulda put down towels." After an hour of what sounded like sawing a woman in half, drain was clear. I paid by credit card (thank god) and he left. Girl and I get in my car to leave, and -- what's this? Up pulls the same van. Guy gets out and -- get this -- wants to know if he can write on my receipt "No warranty". Because, you see, they so so undercharged me. As soon as the Twilight Zone theme stopped playing, I declined his offer. Two months later, same drain is stopped up again. I call "Frank" (same unfriendly guy as before), and tell him my problem. Remember that warranty -- the one he was in such a hurry to take away by writing "NO WARRANTY" on my receipt? Quel suprise -- he's not going to honor it! And wait, there's more! A bonus! He hung up on me! "We don't want to work for you any more." Frank then hung up again and went back to playing Star Trek online. Epilogue: Looking up the license so I could make a complaint, turns out there is no "Narcisso F. Sanchez" listed having a valid California plumbing contractor's license. Ahem. Do a search on Amador Plumbing -- you'll find at least five different sites, all with the same phone number. Check the license -- (expired) in Bay Point, Pine Grove, Plymouth, Sacramento. Are any of these even real? Probably operates out of his mom's basement. So if spilled sinkwater from unlicensed plumbers sent by unfriendly guys with multiple websites who cross out warranties before hanging up on you for asking them to honor them sounds like good times, Amador Plumbing is for you. read more

This is the second time this year that I have used Amador Plumbing and both times I have been impressed. Today I called with an emergency leak coming into my basement. They moved around schedules so that they could get to me right away. They were willing to come after hours and once the plumber looked in to my problem it was clear that it was a leaking refrigerator. It was an appliance issue, not a plumbing issue. He still stayed and helped us trouble shoot and gave us advice. When it was time for him to go and we went to pay him he said, "No charge." How often does that happen these days?! They were able to come the day I called at the time I requested but I was very unhappy that they charged a $90 travel fee with no disclosure. I've used Roto Rooter in the past who travels from Sacramento and charges only a $20 travel fee and the over all fee for the same services was $50 less. I really wanted to support local business but for that price I'll go with an outlying company. read more

Symptom: when I pour water to the kitchen sink, the water come out from the garage sink. Another contractor already took a first stab at this issue without success. Omar and his partner came all the way from Bay Point to my house in Newark, and arrived on time. Unlike the previous contractor who simply tried putting the cable into the pipe under the kitchen sink and garage sink, these guys took time to diagnose the issue and figured out the toilet pipe, which shares the same clean out, is blocking. I am so far very happy with their service, and I'm glad to be their first reviewer on Yelp. I'll keep monitoring the issue, and post any update if necessary. read more

I called the Amador County AMADOR PLUMBING (apparently there are two one of which is in the Bay Area somewhere) on Sunday night regarding a pressure tank leak and they responded first thing Monday morning. As with everything in this old house it's "never one thing" there's always problems on top of problems. Ron and his partner did a GREAT job removing the old tank and when they found an additional unrelated leak in the wall they fixed it quick and without issue. I had a need to do maintenance work on my hot water heater. They charged me $325.00. I questioned the basis for this charge. I was told that they were charging $175.00 per hour for this routine cleaning job. I don't think the guy was here more than an hour but he claims he was here for much longer and that they charged for driving time (I think he exaggerated the driving time). At any rate I called a couple of other plumbers and it seems to me the market rate is closer to $100/hour. I feel I was overcharged for a minor cleaning job. read more
