We had two existing water heaters removed (thereby gaining two additional closet spaces) and a new tankless heater installed on the house exterior. Due to some new copper pipe being installed from one end of the house to the other, it was a 1-1/2 day job. Jessie was easy to work with. The work site was clean. The new heater functions well. We will ask for a return to demonstrate how to adjust the temperature. We have had tankless for 15 years in a previous home. Their price quote was twice that of others. I think they were so busy that they couldn't handle the job. They quoted a price of $850 for a project that requires less than $50 in parts and one hour to do--replacing an existing water line valve for our refrigerator. Inexperienced, cuts corners, not knowledgeable regarding complex plumbing issues. Had to have another plumbing come in and fix a job he couldn't complete correctly. NOTE the sloppy install of tankless drainage pipe. Why not connect to upper levell gutter? Why have this hang across my roof? Not happy. Terrible. In addition I never needed a new tankless water heater, he couldn't even diagnose a plumbing crossover. Once he completedl the tankless water heater install and was paid he never came back to remedy the house water not getting hot. I had a toilet, turns out it was actually two toilets, one upstairs and one downstairs that were intermittently making a very high pitched noise after being flushed. What a great find! We discovered that one of our waste lines under the house was "weeping" at a joint and called our usual plumber to come out and give us an estimate. It was pretty expensive and entailed addressing more than we had originally thought we'd need. Because we wanted to be sure about what was going on, we decided to get another opinion and called CG. Chris was great and got a crew out to us the very next day, first thing. Dayton came out precisely when he said he would. He looked under the house and confirmed what the first plumber had said. He agreed he could address that problem for about the same cost as the first plumber quoted. But he pointed out that the waste lines under the house were not well planned--with many more turns, angles, and joints than it should have (or needed), that the lines were not strapped and supported where they were supposed to be, and that several other junctures were already beginning to fail. It was clear that he wasn't trying to "upsell" us, just telling us that fixing this one issue was not going to be the end of our problems. He quoted us a very reasonable price to fix everything--and guarantee it. I am of the school that says do it right the first time. We had dodged a bullet so far, and we didn't want to press our luck, so we agreed to do the entire thing. We scheduled for the following week, but as it turns out CG was able to get right on the job that very day. Communication was outstanding. Dayton made sure we knew exactly what was going on; he and his crew worked efficiently for the next day and a half, and when they were finished everything was immeasurably improved. No more leaks, a much more sane undercarriage where waste water can flow unimpeded, and work that is guaranteed. The entire thing went about as smoothly as a job like this can go; Dayton and his crew did everything they could to minimize any inconvenience, and in the end saved us thousands of dollars by helping us to avoid a patchwork approach to addressing our problem. This is a company that clearly cares about the quality of its work and its customer relations--a bit of a rarity these days. I found the leak in the ceiling. The guy came out to basically provide an estimate. He asked for the service fee of $150 and said it'll apply toward any work. But, his estimate was four times other nearby plumbers estimates. I did not go with his estimate but it sucks to lose that $150 without even a diagnosis. I should've only gone with people who offer free estimates. $150 for the lesson learned and another plumber to scratch off my list for any future issues. I had some plumbers came by before and after CG plumbing for estimates. None of them asked for a service fee and their estimates were a lot more reasonable, from 3-4.5x less. I couldn't believe how far off the estimate was. I guess they make a living off the service fees instead of earning it. read more
