Wow! Our pumphouse was in trouble and not delivering water to three houses dependent on it. I called Jack Dunn Pumps of Pine Grove, and they responded immediately. After other jobs already scheduled, they came promptly to my disaster of a water pump! They figured out the problems, fixed them, informed me of the parts that were not working and were my heroes! Having NO water is horrible! They are professional and efficient workers who knew what to do. They were such kind men but mostly I recommend them because they knew what they were doing and fixed our problem quickly. I HIGHLY recommend them! read more

I don't know where to start with Jack Dunn Pumps! They used to be great, it was sold to new owners. Seth and Clay came by last Thursday to do my annual maintenance of Clearwater system and Iron system. After they did there was a persistent leak, called them back, they shut off iron system because they had broke an O ring. They would be back in a day or two to repair it. During the night the garage flooded! Seth didn't put a bolt on the system so when the clearwater system drained it drained in the garage!!! You can't imagine the mess. He came back put a bolt on it said the owner ordered the O ring. So it's been 8 days, 1 call back, I even stopped by, no one is coming to repair what they broke. Seth seems very busy and no other techs are around anymore. He can't focus on what he's doing. Typically Seth is great. I know others have had great experiences but I think that is dumb luck. My husband is a 100% disabled veteran, he and his fellow veterans can't believe this happened to my husband in Amador County. read more

They sold us a pump saver that we probably didn't need. Unfortunately, they also didn't set the pressure high enough to fill our storage tank and we ran out of water on a Saturday. Left a voicemail on Saturday, called another guy on Sunday who increased the pressure, and received a call-back from Jack Dunn on Monday with a simple apology and no further follow-up. Luckily, I was there when the water ran out because the pump at the tank didn't have a pump saver and would have burnt itself out. Maybe a good company if you only need support during business hours. read more

Our well took a dive on a Saturday (this stuff never happens during the week!) I left a message and my call was returned within an hour. They came and checked our pump and well. Plenty of water (thank goodness) but needed a new pump which we had already figured out (no water pressure = no toilet flushing, no showers) came back on Monday - day before 4th of July - and installed the new pump in 100+ heat. Very knowledgeable and hard workers. Yes, it was pricey, but you need water in the hills. read more

Absolute worst customer service! When I called about a potential job, I was asked to text my information to set up an appointment. I was told I would receive a call later that afternoon. After about 24 hours, I texted the number saying that I would find another company. Within 5 minutes I received a text saying that they could possibly come out. I expressed that I would find another company that had better communication skills with potential customers. My husband had called Jack Dunn about 4 months earlier and they completely ignored him and never responded. I expressed the importance of good communication, as Amador county is small, and reputation is important. I said that my husband had been dismissed and ignored by the company prior to my interaction. The company responded by telling me my husband is a liar, they have NEVER ignored anyone and then proceeded to tell me, someone looking to pay a company for their services, that they don't accept charity cases... All in all, I give this company 0 out of 5 stars, and I recommend going with any other company, as many will travel to the area and are very professional and have normal communication skills. Horrible company, DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

We have went through another pump company after the pump person who installed all of our well and pump tanks retired and sold his book of business to a competitor. The new pump service came and screwed our system up royally. We called Jack Dunn Pump service and had Rod come out and he fixed up our system and was very responsive to our needs. He then came out a second time to replace a tank pump and alarm that the other company serviced and broke and improperly installed after they completed service. Again, Rod was responsive and replaced everything and now our water system is all taken care of. read more

This new owner of this company is trash. My father back in the day had his well put in by the original owner who was legit. Great customer service and work. However since the new owner has taken over it's gone sideways. I called a while ago, and I was told I would receive a call back to schedule a day. I never heard anything back. My wife called a few months later. She had the same exact experience. The owner brandon, told her we don't do "charity" which was so far out that I'm still shocked that a business owner would say that to a "potential"customer. Amador county is very small and your reputation will make or break you. Tread lightly. The new owner is never going to get my business or recommendation. I am still shocked he would do business in my county like this. What a disgrace to the original jack dunn name. Please change your name to a more appropriate business name. It is wrong to ride the coattails of a reputable businessman. read more

Pump for our well stopped working. No water. Dunn was able to come out within hours and we were grateful. It was a Monday. They said they'd come back Tuesday or Wednesday to get the job done. Wednesday afternoon we call them to ask what's up and they tell us they'll see us at 9:00am on Thursday. All-day on Thursday they failed to pick up their phones. By the end of the business day, they finally called. Not to apologize for missing our appointment and failing to give us a heads up call, but rather the man was being rather rude as he told me the best he could do was get here by Friday morning. So, we went another night without water. Come Friday morning, Dunn doesn't even call us to cancel. Instead, they call our landlord suggesting we find another service provider and forcing us to go another weekend without water."  Now, to make this all worse, when they did show up on Monday: 1- the reason they couldn't get the job done was that they didn't have the right tools (unprepared). 2- I had to ask them to put masks on before entering our home and got a dirty look and attitude as a result of the request (despite Corona cases skyrocketing locally) This is a poorly run business. They don't pick up their phones, return calls, or express any manners or empathy in dealing with customers. And they don't even have the right tools for the jobs they take. read more

Killip Pump Repair (License #1041182) is using Jack Dunn Pumps name and reputation. Jack Dunn Pumps has been around a long time but Jack Dunn passed away years ago. Brandon Killip was issued his license in 2018. When it is stated on their website "Our team is comprised of industry experts with extensive experienced dealing with wells of all styles and conditions" is not true. Our house was up for sale and a realtor who didn't know better called Brandon to have the well inspected. The person he sent claimed to have a contractor's license for electrical. In the end based upon this "inspection" Brandon "recommended" almost $6K in repairs/upgrade work. Due to this "recommendation" it almost killed the sale of the house. I called Brandon but did not hear back from him in a timely manner...so I had another licensed contractor who specializes in wells meet the realtor and buyers at the house to explain how a well works and what the "repairs/upgrade work?" meant. I approved changing the capacitor a $200 fix and the sale of the house went thru. The lesson here is do your due diligence when it is important to receive credible information. read more

My family first use Jack Dunn in the 1960s to drill a well and now the third generation is once again calling them out to install a new replacement well system.
