Pretty good overall, but overpriced in my opinion. I came across a Groupon for Amai Day Spa and decided to buy it. I got a facial, massage, body scrub and scalp treatment at half price. Normally all of this would have cost $300. Overall I was happy with the services, though I didn't think much of the scalp treatment (not much to it). The massage and facial were very nice. It was a nice way to pamper myself. The women were all very friendly, though the woman doing my facial kept trying to sell me their "special" mineral make up even though I kept saying "no thank you". That was annoying. I did think that their prices were quite high, though probably not any more than any other similar spa. Amai is located in Country Village, and parking can be very difficult on a Saturday, so be warned. I give Amai 3 stars for the overall good experience. read more

I will definitely be a repeat customer. That said, I think that they are not totally on top of their game. The website has an incorrect address, some of the photos here are of a different location and when you come to the salon it has a different name than the one listed here. I misplaced my business card or I would tell you the name they have on the door. They are in an office complex on Bellevue lake off of 118th Avenue NE, they have a balcony that is right over the lake with a really great view of the fountains which was very nice. I think the chairs outside could have been chosen for comfort better since when you go to a spa it is all about comfort. The office seemed a bit disorganized and crowded with things that were unnecessary and made for a cluttered atmosphere, they didn't offer any cold drinks although I was given some room temperature filtered water, I was offered nothing else. I had an acne facial and back facial done and my aesthetician I thought did a very good job, she listened to what I wanted and took here time. My skin is actually in very good condition but she made it even better. My old eyes can't see as well as they used to. Five stars definitely for her. I also had a reflexology massage which was nice but not quite what I was expecting, she didn't target specific pressure points specifically, it seemed more like a regular foot rub than reflexology. This lack of detail may have been a result of our ongoing conversation which was nice but not what I was paying for. Still, I enjoyed my experience but probably won't repeat it at this salon. The correct address is Work 9 Lake Bellevue Drive, Bellevue, Washington 98005. If you turn north on 118th Avenue NE and go all the way to the end of the parking lot there is a sign that says 9 Lake and some bridges that go to the buildings, it is the bridge on the right. All in all it was a good experience but I thought that the management could do a lot more to increase the appeal of the atmosphere. read more

Having never visited Country Village in Bothell, but driven by many times I had an idea that it was kind of a hokey place. My mind was completely changed after visiting Amai Day Spa. Nestled in a little corner, quiet, friendly, relaxing and just a harbor of peace in the city. Rachel, my massage therapist, was fantastic! She listened to the needs I had and did a fabulous job. I love going to spas but I don't generally love the atmosphere - a bit too frou frou for my tastes but this place was DIFFERENT. I felt right at home from the moment I walked in! I was well taken care of and will definitely be going back. My husband called around to different area spas on a Friday night and Amai was able to accomodate a Saturday morning schedule with a bit of fenagling and a small break in between services. The front desk was a bit worried about the break but it was something my husband knew I would enjoy and he told me to bring my kindle. I started off with a massage with Wanda that was fantastic and relaxed me and got me ready for my facial (also with Wanda and that was totally awesome to have the same person do both services). My facial literally put me to sleep a few times, it was that amazing. I left feeling so clean, revitalized, and refreshed and my skin felt amazing. I followed that up with a small break that was just perfect in length for me. Wanda was kind enough to get me my kindle and I was offered tea, water, and a small snack. It was awesome being able to sit and relax for a few minutes. My mani/pedi with Coco was amazing as well. She was friendly and personable and was very good at carrying on a conversation and engaging in small talk. It was truly lovely. I had gotten my girlfriend a mother day gift for a facial last year, she really enjoyed it so I thought I would treat her again, hopefully making a tradition out of it. The only openings were on the Sat before mothers day. She went in and said it was good, but a little different this time. Adding that the she had told the person performing the facial that she had sensitive skin. They proceeded putting all sorts of what I can only assume are minerals and other cleansing chemicals on her face. Later that day her face was a little red, but we just assumed it was because of the exfoliation. This is where the story turns, Sunday morning..Mothers day she awoke with hundreds of red mounds all over her face and under her neck. She was horrified, to say the least. It was Mother's Day, her day and she was meeting family to have lunch. Needless to say she was embarrassed from the way the treatment reacted with her skin. On top of the visual she also suffered from burning and itching. She pressed on like mothers do and made the best of a bad situation. I have since sent the company an email describing the issue we had with the facial, stating that I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. Maybe it's an isolated event with someone who has sensitive skin, it's hard to say. I have still not heard anything from Amai spa. It's with regret that we will not be able to make this a mothers day tradition after all. read more

This place is great. I got several facials and brow waxing here before my wedding and a pedicure recently. I have super sensitive skin, and my skin felt and looked great after each session and most importantly on my wedding. The brow wax was perfect and the pedicure was great. In response to Jamie - you are either a liar covering for your staff or completely naïve. Your staff searched the spa high and low for days. I personally searched the spa high and low within an hour after leaving my necklace there. It really is an amazing coincidence that within hours after the police visit, my necklace suddenly shows up sitting on a chair. The "effort" your staff made to search outside was complete deflection to cover their lies. If you honestly believe your staff had nothing to do with it, I highly recommend you get your conveniently broken security cameras fixed because they are probably stealing from you too. On top of that, more dishonesty... I noticed on our receipt that they split the tip amount unequally between the two girls, with 80% going to one and only 20% the other. I guess in actuality that is fair though since the masseuse was a complete joke who obviously had little to no experience or training. I came out of the massage with a stiffer neck than when I started. Also, your facial was horrible as well. Seriously, dial soap was used to wash my face. I know the smell of triclosan. This place does not have enough reviews. I have been coming here nearly every month for at least 5 years for a brow wax, and I've had multiple facials and massages as well. Everyone is wonderful, and you definitely get your money's worth. I'll never go anywhere else for my brow wax. read more

Extremely off-putting experience with the receptionist. If this is the type of service they offer over the phone - when they are still trying to "sell you" on the place - I just can't imagine it gets any better once you walk in the door for a service. She's genuine, friendly and very professional without being stuffy. I like that she follows YOUR lead meaning, no chit chat unless you invite it, which is appreciated as I go there for silence and sometimes a light snooze. Ultra comfy massage table, relaxing atmosphere, good smells. Now, if a mani or pedi is what you're looking for, then Amai is your place too! Don't be fooled by the rave reviews...like I was. My husband and I both had 90 minute deep tissue massages last weekend. Regarding the actual service: At most spas, when you reserve the same service, it might vary from therapist to therapist but the "routine" of the service should be the same. For example, during my massage, they put a hot towel on my back and placed scalding hot stones on my back. I had to ask her to remove them after a few seconds because they were too hot. My husband did not have this done (he did not miss out). Additionally it seemed that they were finished with the massage early so they just spent the last 10 minutes on the scalp which did not feel good. Probably the weakest and most disappointing massage I've received, aside from the massage school I went to once. It took about 5-10 minutes before my therapist started massaging me with any kind of lotion, before that it was just dry and felt hot from the friction. Even after, she did not use any oil and very minimal lotion. I was very clear with her at the beginning that I prefer a very firm massage, and when she asked how the pressure was, I asked for more, then it was painful and then trickled off to a Swedish massage. Often she would stop massaging and use her hand or forearm to apply "pressure," but it just felt like she was resting her hands. It is disappointing to be thinking of other great massages you've received while you are in the middle of a mediocre massage. Spa experience: Since the facility was so small, I could hear the receptionists and other guests talking in the lobby, which was really distracting. My therapist didn't present herself very professionally. She wore sneakers with several tattoos exposed and looked like she just rolled out of bed. The staff seemed friendly, though overly chatty with each other. The receptionist tried to sell us on the monthly membership plan before asking how our service was. Over all, the massage was mediocre at best. It was a waste of the Spa Wish gift card my husband received for his birthday and a waste of money for me. Very disappointing, as I really wanted to like this place. 1 star because a mediocre massage is better than no massage (maybe?) and 1 star for the seemingly friendly staff. read more

I had a pleasant experience for a hour facial. The place is very-clean and staffs are very friendly. My facial is okayed with the standard cleanse and exfoliate and a mask to finish. Not sure I would pay full price for it but it's a great value with Groupon. I would go again. read more

AMAZING SERVICE! I saw Kasie at Amai and was completely amazed by the incredible facial she gave me. I had scheduled the "custom facial" not really knowing what to expect, but was impressed by the consulation Kasie did with me to determine what my individual skin care needs were. She was warm and friendly and exuded a quiet confidence which allowed me to totally relax and enjoy the experience. She gave me tons of useful information and made great product recommendations which have really made a difference in my skin. What an amazing experience! Each treatment was wonderful, and each staff member was friendly and talented! I was in too much of a state of bliss to remember the Facial Technician's name (I think it started with an M), but she was a pleasure to chat with, and made my face feel so much cleaner and smoother, plus she gave me a great scalp massage. The Massage Therapist was very talented as well, and strong! She asked how much pressure I wanted, and she gave me a deep massage that really worked some knots out! (I think her name was Rachel?) Then for my wonderful body scrub which left my skin feeling oh so smooth and clean! Coco (I think) was a pleasure to chat with as well, and she scrubbed me clean, then gave me a lovely pedicure. Despite my ticklish feet, she managed to get my crazy calluses under control and apply a lovely polish. In between treatments I got to relax in the comfiest robe I've ever worn, and sip on water with a slight citrus flavor (I think there were oranges floating in it). There were divine chocolates in the waiting room, and each bed was comfy and warm. Overall an AMAZING experience, and I really hope I can return soon!!! The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars is that it is a bit pricey for me. Luckily I had been saving up for a bit, and found a Living Social coupon for half off, so I was able to take a friend (who REALLY needed a spa day) with me. Very glad a friend recommended Amai to me - I have been a faithful customer ever since. While I may go to others when I'm in a different town, this is my go-to spot for regular pedi's. Lee is incredible at what she does, and remembers any concerns or special needs for my feet. I've read some other comments about "up-selling" but have never, ever personally experienced that. In fact, the only thing I've ever "experienced" that might cost me money is the question "would you like to schedule your next visit?" I enjoy that there are levels of pedis you can choose - from the express to the monthly specials. There are a huge number of nail salons out there - most cheap in both price and quality. Amai may not be cheap, but you get what you pay for - and I have no problem with paying for high-level, quality service. read more

I recently had another fabulous pedicure at Amai. I went in for a post-winter Signature Pedicure - it's a little pricey but worth the pampering you get from Koko! She was very detailed and thorough and a delight to talk with - but she also didn't talk "too" much but let me enjoy the experience and atmosphere. I've always loved the fact that the nail room is separate from the rest of the spa - quiet and relaxing. I also love that they are located in Country Village - always fun to poke around my favorite stores and check out the new ones. The only reason I gave 4 stars rather than 5 is the prices are a little steep. If they were a little less, I could go more often, but it is a fun indulgence when I can get there! read more

Well, I didn't receive the original email, hence why it wasn't opened. Did not receive follow up email either. Which is weird since I'm still receiving your monthly emails regarding specials. After I was told about the new policy I looked around the desk for a sign, none found. I looked on both sides, no sign. As a thought for the future, maybe put big changes like this on your website in case emails aren't correct. That gives the consumer notice and not such a bad taste. I was in desperate need of a massage and was able to get in same-day. Love the fact that they take Microsoft Prime and will go back as long as they continue to do so. The masseuse was good and I was very relaxed the entire time . I was surprised, though, that she didn't ask more questions about where I was sore or how deep a massage I wanted. I went to Amai today and had a package that included a body wrap, hair mask with scalp massage, and a massage. I had never had a body wrap so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it was a very weird experience. I can't remember the name of the woman who did mine but she was a tiny Asian woman who made me very comfortable and was kind and talked to me enough that I loosened up but not so much that I couldn't relax. It was nice and the scalp massage was AMAZING. Also, the cream she put on my skin at the end smelled like lemon cake, it smelled so delicious. The massage was good, too. I think I fell asleep so it couldn't be bad:-). She didn't go too deep and leave me sore but I did feel very relaxed. The spa is sort of vintagey and cute. It was quiet and serene inside. I enjoyed my package at Amai and would definitely go back. I didn't feel the prices were unreasonable at all. My favorite part was the scalp massage and I think I'd get a body wrap again. read more

The day before the appointment I got an email saying there had been a 'mix up' and they could not honor their commitment for the service. Accepts Spafinder gift cards!! It's inside country village and was a little tricky for me to find. I parked out by the playground and just walked directly across all the shops. The second I walked in I already felt relaxed. The lady at the front desk was so sweet! I had a 60 min massage. My masseuse was Natalie. She asked which parts I needed focus on. I'm a nanny so there's a lot of lifting/being on my feet and stress. My back had tons of knots in it and Natalie got most of them out. She also worked on the rest of my body for a good amount of time, which was awesome. I hate going to other places and them spending 45 min on one target section and 15 min on the rest of your body. That was not the case here! I felt comfortable and relaxed the whole time. They have a makeup bar out by the front door (for sampling products maybe? which I didn't use and I wish I would have!
