I have been coming here for 3 years, because they have a cool outdoor seating area in spring/summer, where you can sip wine, people watch and bring your dog if you want. Awesome right? Wrong, the trick here is you purchase wine/beer from here and that makes total sense, I get it. Sadly everyone that works here, especially the owner, act like they are to the manner born. Wrong answer....they don't have the best wine choices or prices. There's a dude here that looks like Keith Morrison on NBC. He just sits behind the counter and never says hello, no acknowledgement whatsoever. I have spent in excess is $1000 the past 12 months, I deserve some sort or greeting or welcome, just sayin'. Such a pretentious attitude. The female owner has seen me on numerous occasions, always while I'm making a purchase, but she still looks at me like I'm a leper. I love Amanti Vino. Their wine selection is great, their whiskey selection is solid, they have great ciders, and the staff is knowledgeable. Their outdoor seating is also fantastic. This place is awesome. They have many good wines and beers. If you tell them your price range and what you are looking for they will help you fine something. Then you go outside where there are seating area. I posted a picture of the rules. They cannot open the bottle for you but the tables outside all have bottle openers for beer and wine. Tables fill up fast on the weekend so get their early and grab a table. It was great weather outside so it was perfect. You can always go back into the store and grab more to drink or head somewhere else if you prefer. Near a lot of good bars. You also have to provide your own glasses. So bring some from home. I think they sell plastic glasses for like 4$ a piece but if you can bring your own. read more

Before visiting this gem, when I heard @AmantiVino in #Montclair, I don't know why, but I pictured an over priced wine store. To my surprise, this beautiful space is filled to the brim with reasonable wines and delightful employees who are ready to assist in finding you that perfect wine for that perfect occasion. Now, this place is wine that sells other adult beverages. They may sell craft beer, but I'd imagine you don't come here strictly for the selection of suds. They have a small cooler with various cheeses and spreads, which is always a nice touch, because if you're like me, cheese is always in season. I'm not sure if they do tasting events, but I say if they do, go. The space is a perfect place to spend time lulling amongst Bordeaux's, Pinot's, Cabs or whatever your preference may be. Rumor has it that they do have sort of a (v)inoteca in the front of their store come spring/summer time. I recently moved to the neighborhood, and I love having such a fantastic wine store so close to my house. Amanti Vino is tucked away on Church Street, smartly placed among a veritable horde of BYOB restaurants and customers who may need a bottle for said restaurants. The store is one of the best laid-out wine shops I've seen, with wines separated by country and, where possible, by grape. The staff itself is not overly interactive, but the detailed cards they put with every single wine more than make up for that. You can know where the wine is from, what it tastes like, and food pairing suggestions, all to help you make the right decision. As a fan of boutique wine, I also love that they stock some of my favorite small-production wines, like the Calder Charbono, Forlorn Hope Alvarelhao, and anything from producers like Stolpman, Sandlands, and Hiyu Wine Farm. It was such a pleasant surprise to discover this in our new neighborhood, and I'm already a regular. read more

I love this wine shop! It is in the perfect location for all the BYOB'S in the area. There is a wide range of delicious wines and beer for every budget. What I like about this place is that you are almost guaranteed a tasty beverage no matter what you choose, because I don't believe they waste their time with subpar quality like the "warehouses." We call Amanti Vino the "Wine Museum" because it has this kind of... well-organized feel to it. I have no idea if they spend a lot of time putting things together, but it sure looks that way. I stop in here every few weeks to get a REALLY good bottle that I can't find in my more general stores, like the Bottle King. I come here to discover new things, and to lust after those bottles kept in the special room with all the temperature controls and names I cannot pronounce. The staff has always been helpful and inviting--even though they don't know me by name--happy to chat about anything from favorite beers to home repair. As of this writing, they are developing their craft beer offerings and love to take suggestions. They also don't race after you or pressure you if you look like you know what you're doing. If you need something, there's always someone around that you can ask. They also carry a small selection of primo spirits, including a lot of NY-area whiskies and other goodies, like the Rogue Dead Guy Rye. Last, while it might look like a fancy-pants wine store, they have an excellent range of good wines from $6.00 a bottle to $600. Take your time to look around and pick up something if it catches your eye. read more

Visually, this is a nice wine store. I'd say in the category of a boutique wine store - at least the condescending, script following staff have given me this impression. I never go out of my way to go here and have been here maybe a dozen times and strictly out of convenience. I would much rather go to Angelbeck's where the staff is authentic and makes recommendations based on palette and pairing rather than the script they've been given. I've had my share of wine and I know what I do and don't like so I've asked the staff to make recommendations based upon the well-known Amarone, Cabernet Sauvignon, Stag's Leap, or Chardonnay that I like. Most of the time, they have not heard of these vineyards and never have they made a recommendation I was happy with. What sealed the deal and prompted me to write a review was my last visit. I'd had dinner at Scala del Nonna next door and was going to a birthday party after dinner. I stopped at Amanti Vino for a bottle of scotch to bring to the party. The young man at the counter made a face when I asked for a recommendation and wanted to spend "only" $50 on a bottle of scotch and acted inconvenienced when I ask him to wrap it. Sorry for the trouble. I'll bring my business elsewhere next time. read more

Beer tasting classes, Wine tasting classes, Cheese, Chocolate. I've tried many and always come away feeling like I'm tapping into the most curious parts of my brain. Amanti Vino is like this for wine, beer, and spirits - except it's not expensive! It's a very elegant and open space, with sparsely stocked shelves.There's plenty there, but your not inundated with an overwhelming amount of stuff, but everything there is quality. They have a large wine selection, great locally produced liquor, but I go for the beer. This isn't a place to go for a 12 pack of Bud, but you can find a great selection of hard-to-find from craft breweries around the world. The staff is able and eager to help with your selection. Thad is the man - talk to him about beer. He's glad to help and full of information. If there's room on the list, join the beer club. Thad chooses a great selection of beers every month to expand your beer palate to new and interesting tastes. Ask also about beer classes and events. I went for a Saison class, which was awesome. The best wine store! The staff is so knowledgeable. They offer free wine tastings on Saturday. They offer wine classes to learn more about wines and grapes etc. They deliver wine to you home or while you're out at a restaurant. It's more than a wine store it is a wonderful community that spreads love if wines, beers, and spirits. Great staff! I'm beginning to believe this is a Montclair thing as in NYC you rarely go somewhere where EVERYONE is nice. They have little pictures to let you know the fullness on the wine displayed for every bottle and the suggestion by a staff member was spot on. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the wine and beer from here and I certainly recommend that if you are in this area you allow them to pick out something for you, trust them! I am so happy I found Amanti Vino after moving to the area from Brooklyn in late 2020. Sharon & her team's curation and taste in wine, beer, and spirits is fantastic. My husband and I were especially impressed with their COVID safety protocols and their delivery/curbside pickup services. Additionally, I had the opportunity to take WSET Level 2 and 3 classes with Sharon and cannot recommend these classes enough for anyone who likes wine and wants to learn more about it. In 6 months I went from being an enthusiast to someone who can now make recommendations to friends and pair wines with food. I'm basing this review strictly on beer. As far as wine and spirits go they are a little pricy, but on point considering they are a smaller local shop and not a Bottle King or total wine. As for the beer, it is a haven for beer snobs. They carry a wide variety of hard to find beer including several micro-brews and imports. If you're like me and like to try new beer or if you're interested in a wide variety of beer styles, this is a great shop to try something new, or one of your hard-to-find favorites. This comes in especially handy, as the majority of restaurants in this area of Montclair are BYO. They keep a great number of them chilled as well, making them a great option for a local meal. read more

The beer selection is pretty good, and they generally have a decent selection of the breweries I like. This extra assurance of quality likely means you'll pay a bit more than if you shopped at a chain liquor store, though. While the focus is clearly on wine, there are small sections of specialty spirits and craft beers (some even chilled for your instant enjoyment!). Think of Amanti Vino as a boutique of wine, liquor, and beer. You're not going to find Yellowtail nor Bud Lite at Amanti Vino. The employees are friendly and not overbearing nor snooty. The store proprieter took charge of the situation, even though it was not the store's responsibility to "fix" the shipping problems, and the wine was found and shipped without further issues. This store is so physically lovely I want to kiss it. It's spare and minimalist and full of wine. And the museum analogy that another reviewer used is particularly apt because it looks like a museum, and the wine is clearly curated. I stick with the cheaper wines because that's my financial bandwidth these days, but when I have some extra cash to blow, I'll definitely come here and get some recommendations for a $50 bottle. Customer service is ok. I've asked for help and gotten it. Most times I don't ask for help and don't get it. I'm cool with that. I don't need a lot of hand-holding. They have a small selection (also carefully curated) of hard liquors and associated things that you might need to make mixed drinks, as well as cheese, which is important!! I also can't comment on the white wine selection because I don't drink white, but the red selection is very good. There do seem to be more higher-end wines available, but I've never gotten a bad $15 bottle of wine here. It's also super-convenient to Raymond's and all the other restaurants on Church Street and thereabouts that are BYOB, which is nice. read more

Perfect location to pick up a bottle for all of the BYOB's on the street. This day we decided to take one of their wine classes. "Wine Tasting 101" Full class too! I'm glad I reserved my spots in advance. Sharon, the owner, taught the class herself. It was extremely informative. She very carefully and very accurately explained each of the wines that we were tasting. Although there was the traditional bucket for spitting out your sample, it was all so good I drank all of mine! I would definitely take one of her classes again. Better yet, partake in the next tasting dinner that she hosts. All of the wines sampled were naturally available in her store downstairs. It was a great time with some very nice people.
