They have a decent wine selection yes, but way overpriced liquor! I paid almost $17 more for a bottle of Gin. That was my bad, but I went back into the store (thinking a mistake was made) and asked if there was a reason for the high mark up. Rude staff. One manager doesn't wear a mask, claims he has an "exemption" because he has asthma, even though he can be seen regularly smoking cigarettes on the sidewalk outside the store. Refused to put a mask on, despite signs in the store telling customers no mask no service. Such hypocrisy. read more

Just revisited the shop in anticipation that things may have changed... wrong. We were dining at La Rocca popped in and was ignored by a heavy set girl singing sounding like nails on a chalk board. Very over priced! There used to be a younger gentleman manager with long hair there who was meticulously well versed on wines and spirits also incredibly great at serving us here in the Montclair community. Thought I'd make life easier for myself by ordering the liquor delivered for a party. 3 hours later...Never showed up!!! It was for a birthday party I was throwing (imagine 50 people at your house and no drinks). My husband ended up running out to a different store 30 minutes into the party. ‍when I called to ask about it they were aloof and completely unapologetic. Said they were "getting it together". Go to Wine Guys instead- those guys are so nice and super helpful! Plus not nearly as expensive and much better selection! read more

Definitely Montclair's Finest Wine and Liquor store! The staff if phenomenal, products are unique and they house one of the most diverse collections of craft beers and wines. They're open all day, everyday including holidays... really doesn't get much better than that. Love them ! read more

The prices are a tad higher than other liquor stores but it's totally worth it because: 1. They are open late every day! Honestly, I've never seen them closed. My friends and I ran out of wine at Mediterranea one night and ran across the street to get some from Merit. It was midnight! 2. They deliver! If you're relaxing at home and are in need of a cold beer, but feel too lazy to go out and get some, call them up! I think you need to order at least $20 worth, but it's so worth it, don't you think? The owner of this establishment was very nice and provided us with a tasting of two different wines! This place has a wide array of not only wines but beers and liquors. This is the world's best liquor store! They are knowledgable, helpful and courteous. They are a part of the neighborhood! They remember me and always have a treat for the dog! I buy from them for work parties, order home delivery for a get together, or to restaurant in town (when we could) and no matter what way I get the service its impeccable and warm. I moved across town and still take the long walk or the drive to make it "my" liquor store. With the changes because of Covid their customer service is even better. One time I asked for home delivery during the stay at home order and the delivery guy was trying to figure out how to include me on his route. I had to tell him that it was ok and to forget it! I love this wine store. The young guys who work here are hilarious, they don't treat wine with that pretentiousness most places do, and the owner is SO helpful and kind, it's almost ridiculous. I literally had the guy running all over the store finding wines for me, plus he took the time to explain the whole "sulfite free" debacle going on in the wine world right now. It's probably not healthy to love a liquor store this much...They're great! The wine selection is pretty vast, and the people who work there are friendly, easy-going and helpful. They're always willing to help you find something, and they don't mind if you gravitate toward the cheaper options (like I do!). They often have in-store wine tastings so you can try before you buy. Their beer section is on the smaller side, but they have interesting brands and seasonal selections. I haven't taken advantage of their delivery service yet, but it's nice to know it's available! They're a joke, no stars. I called to see if they would deliver to Orange (border of Montclair and Glenridge and they wouldn't) The pvssies must think I'm in the heart of the ghetto. I guess if I go up the street to the right or left so I'm either in Montclair or Glendridge and call them, they'd deliver. Wait, THEY DELIVER? That's amazing. I love this shop. It's my favorite place to buy wine. The people who work there are extremely helpful and I've never gotten a wine there that I haven't liked! They have some pricey stuff but I've also found many bottles in the $16 or less range that have all been great. Besides the great selection, what really makes this place wonderful is the customer service.
