We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. All the staff members were super friendly. The valet folks are funny and friendly! The concierge is ready to help with all our needs. Housekeeping did a great job keeping our rooms clean and stocked. And the restaurant host was very welcoming. The hotel is super dog friendly, with treats and water bowls available in the lobby. The valet parking is included and they are quick to retrieve the cars. The pool is heated and the jacuzzi was nice and hot, even in 40 degree weather! It also has a great view of the red rocks. The sauna is included but it didn't get as hot as I had hoped. The room we stayed in was very spacious and had all the essentials. The patio doors opened up to a grassy area, perfect for our pup to go potty. The bed and pillows were comfy! Overall a great stay and would go return any time! read more

This review is long past due. Went here in February & had the most magical time in Sedona for our babymoon . Didn't want to travel too far since going to a different country while being pregnant scared the crap out of me. Wanted something that was a quick flight & also wanted our fur baby to come along . Sedona was the destination for our babymoon . It was quite magical with the the stunning red rock formations, our creekside room with amazing views of the mountains & serenity of the water. Everything was literally so perfect. Upon arrival, they had some macaroons and a sparkling cider & the sweetest note for our stay. That really set the tone for our whole duration there. Loved the whole place . It was quite relaxing. It was my fur babies first time traveling on a plane which was super special . Loved that this place was super dog friendly which was a huge bonus. They even wrote his name on the welcome board which was the cutest thing ever. I loved our stay here . It's right in the middle of everything with restaurants nearby . As soon as we arrived the valet staff made us feel most welcome. They were quick and attentive and always opened the doors before we could. Especially Ricardo and Nate. Jose at the front desk was jovial and efficient. There was hot cider in the lobby one day and got chocolate the next. And coffee every morning. The pool and outdoor area are spectacular! Great views, will maintained. And then you walk down to the creek! Our room was spacious and clean and quite well appointed. This was our 2nd annual girls weekend after the stress of the holiday. I've stayed in Sedona several times but this was my first time staying at Amara and let me say, I think it is my new go to place. I found it super last minute for a quick birthday trip. I had no idea it has been here the whole time. It is at the perfect location, right on the main strip of shops, yet it looks over the river. The friendly valet workers will even drive you in a cart to the shops so there's no need to hustle with parking! Our room was very cool and we had a nice breakfast on the patio. Horrible! If there were 0 stars that's what I'd give this Spa. Arrived looking forward to a nice relaxing facial and therapeutic massage but left with facial scarring!!!! I had booked an Eminence Organics Custom Facial but the esthetician upsold me on the Microdermabrasion and NuFace treatments assuring me my skin would look extra fabulous for my planned dinner that night. The facial was relaxing and everything seemed fine although I did notice that the esthetician was looking strangely at my face after the treatment. When I saw myself in the mirror in the women's lounge after I was horrified to see that there was a distinct scar line about 3 inches long across my left cheek, another one on my jawline and a spot on my chin, all clearly caused by the microdermabrasion machine. When I showed it to the lady at the front desk she said "it should go away in a few days". Seriously??? This is totally unacceptable. I have no idea if this will go away in a few days or ever. I will say that the next day it is every bit as visible. She took the microdermabrasion off my bill and 20% off of the facial but that is a joke and an insult given I now have to go see a dermatologist and who knows what I'll have to do at what cost to correct this if it's even correctable!! I asked for the spa director to call me but she has not. I recommend avoiding this Spa at all cost!! read more

Amera Resort and Spa in Sedona is truly one of the best resorts I've ever stayed at. The property is beautiful, welcoming, and immaculately clean. We visited for a short but fun girls trip. The exceptional service began before our arrival. Teaha, the Concierge Manager, personally arranged our dinner reservations and our Jeep excursion with such professionalism and kindness. Once we arrived, Deane went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of amazing. The spa experience was unforgettable--I felt like I was floating after my massage and facial. This is not a terrible hotel. However I'm completely confused where the excellent reviews are coming from. We paid 750 per night before fees and taxes for what is essentially a standard motel room. The good: grounds are pretty right next to the river. Pool was fine. The staff were friendly. Restaurant seemed nice but we never ate there as we were loath to give the hotel any more money after our experience. The bad: got to our room and there was no hot water. Called the front desk and it sent us through a phone tree and finally to the front desk where no one picked up the first time. Took 5 minutes to get someone on the phone. They send a repair man who was polite and doing his job but takes about 45 minutes to get the hot water working, is in and out of the room, while we're standing around in towels desperate to shower after a long day of hiking. After that sub par start no compensation is offered. We ask the front desk and they waive the $35 dollar per day "resort fee" unclear why there is even a resort fee as the amenities are pretty standard. Then the room itself. For the price I expected something nice. It was .... Fine? We stayed in a double tree for $150 the night before which was honestly nicer. The room was clean but dated and worn. Walls were scuffed, furniture chipped, baseboards chipped, tile/grout in the shower cracked. Again this seemed like a fine room of you were at a motel. For $750 per night this is highway robbery. Overall: would not recommend staying here unless you are somehow paying less than $150 in which case it would be acceptable. At its current prices the quality is a joke. Save your money and stay at a holiday inn. It's probably a better experience anyway. read more

I am conflicted writing this review but I think I had higher expectations... The Amara Resort and Spa is nestled perfectly below the main street in Sedona. It offers a tranquil hideout surrounded by nature's true beauty. I had been wanting to vacation here for a while after enjoying lunch on a previous visit. The grounds are very tranquil, however, there is some missed potential here. For starters, guests do not have access to an ice machine and constantly need to call room service. Sometimes, the restaurant is closed making delivery of ice companied with longer wait times. We had booked a creek-side king room, which was a pretty penny! I was surprised to see so much damage to the furniture and the lackluster presence of the bathroom. There was also a very strong smell of detergent or perhaps cleaning supplies upon our arrival to the room. The creek side balcony was beautiful, but I didn't realize the creek itself is not private property to the resort. When trying to enjoy the peaceful and tranquil environment, we found various parties (who were not staying at the resort) swimming and fishing along the creek. It was surely an unexpected surprise. On our first full day there, I luckily woke up early and began to lounge by the pool. By the time 11:00 am or so rolled around, the pool was packed and many patrons didn't have a lounge chair to sit on. There was also a greater need for umbrellas considering the strength of the sunshine. I selfishly wish this was an adults-only resort but the children on the grounds were respectful. With regards to room service, we ordered some appetizers from the Salt Rock menu and the chips were extremely stale. Not to mention, the wait time for a chips and guac order was greater than an hour. Overall, I did have a relaxing time and the staff did provide excellent service. I think during my next visit to Sedona, I will explore other options for lodging. read more

Amara is honestly my home away from home when traveling to Sedona. The impeccable views, the poolside river, the delicious food, the pristine rooms and most of all the staff. They are beyond first class and treat you more like family than a guest. They remember the small details and do all they can to ensure your peace and pleasure. Jose the front desk manager is beyond a rockstar and even remembered me by name on only my 2nd stay. His warmth and professionalism is what every hotel should aspire to have. They are beyond blessed to have him. Johnny our bartender is exquisite, Alejandro our server is a dream and to Sean on grounds staff whom is an absolute pillar of guidance and an incredible host whom excels at every level. I finally have a minute to sit down and write after traveling all summer long. My wife and I purchased a facial for me for my birthday and what a treat it was! I am a typical guy who is into sports and never gave much consideration to caring for my skin. Well after having a facial with Laura, that has changed! She told me in the most non-judgmental way that it is never too late to start caring for my skin. She gave me some recommendations for an easy to follow home care routine. Laura assured me that my skin is healthy (despite my neglecting it) and that I could now "put my best face forward". I am glad that I met Laura so that she could help me to prioritize caring for my skin. She knows a lot and the facial was really nice. Our stay at Amara Resort and Spa in Sedona was absolutely wonderful! The location was perfect, just steps away from Uptown Sedona but tucked away enough to feel peaceful and private. The staff was welcoming and helpful. There was a sign in the lobby advertising events at the resort during our stay. We enjoyed a relaxing sound bath by the pool and would have liked to attend the star gazing event but had already made dinner reservations for that time. We had an appointment scheduled to to for a wedding venue. We showed up on time, waited for an entire hour, and no one ever showed up to meet us. No call, no text, no explanation. It's pretty disappointing when you're planning something as important as a wedding and the venue can't follow through on the very first step. We ended up having to leave and view another venue instead. If you're considering this place, I'd recommend confirming (and reconfirming) your appointments -- assuming someone actually plans on showing up. read more

To be honest, I'm torn between a 3 and 4 star review. I had expected more from a "resort and spa." If it had just been a hotel, this would easily be a four star review, but as a resort, it fell short for me. The good: We enjoyed the pool. My daughters said it was one of, if not the best, pool they'd ever swam in. The woman at the checkout desk when we left was AMAZING. She went to the pool to see if the topless woman was still there (yes, that happened while my girls were at the pool) and reported it to people at the resort who could deal with it. She could tell I was frazzled at check out and asked if there was anything she could do to make it better. She ended up going to the bar to get me a cup of tea because the tea and coffee are taken down before checkout. She also walked with my daughter back to the pool to help her look for her wallet and let her in the room we'd checked out of to see if it was there. She did all of that with a smile, and I'm sad I did not get her name to give her a shout out. I also liked that Amara had a big dispenser of grapefruit infused water in the lobby that was refreshing on a hot day. Everyone we came into contact with that worked valet was great. As far as the room goes, the bathroom was clean and had a nice, big shower. The beds were comfy, and we liked that we had a patio (though ours was thick with mosquitoes and brought many mosquito bites home with her). The bad: The waiter we had for dinner at SaltRock was standoffish and unfriendly. He wasn't good at suggesting food, and he rarely checked back on us. The pork belly tostadas were delicious, but everything else we got was ok at best. The skillet street corn tasted off, and my husband and I ended up not feeling so well. For picky eaters, you probably don't want to eat here. My daughter couldn't find anything she wanted on the menu and ate toast for dinner. I was quite disappointed that the tea and coffee were taken down very early because I always like to grab a cup of tea on the way out to start my day the right way. One of the women working the front desk lacked people skills. Thankfully, the excellent staff members are more memorable for me, our room was nice, and the pool was wonderful, so overall it was a decent stay. read more

Issues: We reported our toliet was running on Friday of our stay. It was never addressed. Room cleaning. On first day when the maid came to clean we said just let us get dogs ready to take a walk. Said she would return in 15 minutes. We walked for 30 minutes room was not cleaned. We ended up just getting towels replaced and trash emptied throughout our stay. With other hotels we have stayed getting the room cleaned when traveling with our dogs has not been an issue. Ice policy is problematic. read more

The exterior of the resort is gorgeous and you can beat the pool view and getting a room overlooking it for the gorgeous view you see in so many pictures (however not all pool-facing rooms get that view). Common area, pool, jacuzzi is really nice and it's heated! There are also Fire pits open at night as well bringing in the cozy vibes. The room itself is a little outdated, some water damage marks like cracks on ceiling and holes. The building smells a tad musty too. As some others said the layout of the bathroom is a little funky, probably because they built a huge closet instead of a bigger bathroom. We had a courtyard facing room with the pool but on the curve end so would miss the mountain. Complimentary valet (no self-park), coffee/tea from 6-9am is part of the resort fee. There's also a Little creek area behind the pool for a nice walk Navigation a little hard to find off the main road but it feels secluded and is actually very close, just dips down a bit from the main road. The resort is also Dog friendly! With the resort fees + the overall price, I thought what we got didn't necessarily match what we paid and was expecting a bit more than just a gorgeous courtyard/pool area. We wanted to do a little staycation in arizona and we like taking the 2 hour drive to sedona to go hiking. I love how this hotel is pet friendly! My boyfriend and I are always looking for great hotels that allow pets. The staff was so friendly and it was super cute that they had our dogs Ava and Luna on the little welcome dog board. It was a rainy day and we still decided to go anyways, the creek was like a milky chocolate color and I didn't get any pictures on the cute swing. Maybe next time! I like how you can also get a golf cart ride to the restaurants nearby. And a walk back isn't so bad. We had a fantastic time here! We didn't get a chance to hike this time. Stayed here during our visit to Sedona. Pros: comfortable bed. Awesome pool area that's family friendly. Clean rooms. Nice fitness center that has a nice aroma from the spa next door. Cons: tucked away from the Main Street so you'd have to drive and or walk down a somewhat steep path. Which also means to walk up the path to get to street restaurants. Yes there's the option of golf cart from the staff but that also involves extra $ tips. WiFi not very fast and connection is average at best. Nighttime best to keep windows closed due to night time gnats , in the summer time that is. Parking valet. Or walk up the path for self parking Can get noisy when there's a wedding out in the courtyard Generally had a good time. We just had a very quick overnight stay in Sedona and picked this location due to the reviews and recommendations of others. We took a chance on Hotwire and felt so thankful when the hotel we wanted is what we got. Thankfully so - because if we had paid full price for this we would have been greatly disappointed. For what we paid ($275 for one night) it wasn't quite so disappointing. What went well: the check in process was smooth, the hotel staff were kind, and the valet guys were top notch. What didn't go so smooth: the room and the property look nothing like the pictures. We paid extra when we arrived to get a room with a view, however, the only way you could see the view is if you leaned out over the balcony and turned your head to the left. We arrived around noon there was food sitting outside of several of the rooms as well as a dirty diaper outside of one of the rooms. We did tell the front desk about this and by the time we got back from our dinner, the diaper was picked up, but all the food trays were still there. None of the reviews that I read that you almost have no choice but to valet park your vehicle. There is a big steep hill that you have to go up and down to get to the hotel, and at night it is super dark. I had a near miss driving down the hill after dinner. Possibly my fault, but if there was any type of lighting at all on that hill, it wouldn't have happened. Another thing is that and a lot of the other reviews. You see a really cute little creek that right by the hotel with a swing and everything. But the water was completely stagnant when we were there, and the swing did not exist. read more

Compete Garbage. Had our "honeymoon" there. We felt like prisoners in a tourist trap. Would not recommend. The reason for this post is because they censored me, by deleting my comment on Instagram that was an honest factual review, because it made them look bad. The Amara's recent social media post is completely misleading. It is NOT a "cute little hotel". It costs over $500+ a night, plus $30 just to clean the sheets, daily. They don't provide any yoga, the view is obstructed by trees. There are so many mosquitos, that they even give you mosquito bracelets. Drinks are $15 each, and never-mind the expensive food, such as $20 for a piece of "Avocado Toast" or $30 "Mini Romance Kit" they leave in every room, along with $7 corkscrews and $60 375ML bottles of Tequila. That's not even besides the fact it is dead center of the tourist trap. In 2018, it was great, before it was taken over by Northwood Hospitality, and they skimmed on everything when we visited in 2022. The Amara's social media post is completely misleading. Again, NOT "the cutest hotel in Sedona". It is a thirst trap with overpriced everything. More importantly, they are being disingenuous with potential customers by falsely depicting themselves as a "diamond in the rough", when in fact it's an overpriced resort, with minimal amenities and centered around the Sedona tourist trap. From the photos, we thought we would love this place. However, there were more pros than cons. Pros Friendly bartender (Kai?) Great location Spacious room Cons At 4:30pm, it took almost 2 hours, a phone call and two front desk visits, to get ice, towels, and trash bags delivered to our room. Bathroom mirror is off center from sink, making it awkward to brush teeth. Water faucet in shower/tub was a little tricky to use. Bed. King size bed has 4 standard size pillows instead of king size pillows. Foot of bed frame sticks out too far. Closet light source was out. Desk needs a light source, since we used it for eating. Pool was too busy and loud. It was too popular. Too many people drinking in the pool. A plastic cup was floating in the water. Salt Rock. The host was abrasive. He wasn't very welcoming when we asked about eating outside without having a reservation. Consequently, we bought food elsewhere during the rest of our stay. Soundproofing. We could hear people talking in the hallway and the person above us walking around. Staff. One of the front desk staff, didn't know about Hotels.com Gold Membership benefits. Thankfully, another did. Valet. One guy was putting his mask back on as he delivered the car to us, meaning he was mask-less while driving our car. He also screwed up the window shade I was using, by opening the front passenger window. read more

I have stayed at this property two times. Once in the summer and once in the winter. The first time was excellent. The second was a challenge. Beautiful setting. The beds are comfortable. Breakfast is not bad. The creek behind the hotel is very picturesque. The level of service was poor and after 8:00pm it was non-existent! We have stayed at this resort many times over the years and basing my rating on all the stays. Some of our stays have been fantastic, but in recent times the cleanliness has dropped significantly. Last time we stayed our room wasn't ready yet, so we went to the pool. There were used towels laying all over the place as well as leftover food, drinks, garbage. We sat there for an hour waiting on our room and not one employee came to check the area. You used to be able to self park, but now it is only valet. You'd think not a big deal, but they don't always have enough valet staff to get your car quickly. Try calling ahead before you leave your room and it might be there when you get to the front. What I love about this resort is that is in the middle of downtown Sedona and all the action. Yet it is down by the creek, so you feel much farther away and it is quiet. If you want to walk to downtown from the resort bring some good shoes. It is a very steep walk up the main drag. They do have a shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up, but that is hit or miss on when it is available. The restaurant has good food, but as everything else it is quite spendy for the amount you get. There also isn't much variety. They do have a nice happy hour in the main check in area each evening, so be sure to partake of that! The pool area does have magnificent views and great place to take your happy hour wine and relax. We found urine on our mattress when we woke up. We stayed at Amara for 2 nights. It's a beautiful hotel with a great restaurant, but we had a traumatic first morning. My partner noticed that part of the bed near the pillows smelled like urine. I took off the sheets and found a urine stain on the down mattress topper. It was disgusting. We slept on a bed that a human or animal urinated on. We were moved to a new room that faced the patio but no longer had balcony chairs. At checkout, we were offered a service recovery of the resort fees and part of the restaurant bill that was not covered by our American Express Hotel Collection credit. $107 for a $359/ night room (+ $37/ night resort fee) is an unacceptable service recovery for this incident. This is the 17th hotel I've stayed in this year. Any respectable hotel would comp that night without the guest asking for it. Picture attached. Bad lighting, but you can see the urine. read more

It all started with when we first drove up. The valets/bellmen gave us a great welcome and that set the expectation for a wonderful stay very high. An expectation that was fully realized. I have never seen a friendlier, happier more competent hotel stay anywhere. I don't want ignore what a beautiful setting this hotel is in and relaxing and refreshing the rooms feel. But what makes this a 5 star review is the staff. I am sure there was a grumpy team member there (in any group of size you got to have one) but they did a great job of hiding him. I think the one main reason I think this staff does such an amazing job as the I could really sense the pride they have for the hotel and the job they are doing. One place this pride really shows is in the condition of the hotel. The hotel is an older hotel (which is the norm for this part of Sedona) but it is in great shape. The kind of condition that could only be maintained by people who truly love the hotel and what they do. I know this getting long but when I talk about the awesomeness of the staff that certainly includes the great people at Salt Rock, the restaurant/bar. The too just knocked it out of the park. Had a restful, peaceful stay at the Amara in Sedona last week. Our ground floor king patio room was tucked toward the creek on the west side of the building and a perfect, shady respite from the summer sun and our time on the trail. The pool and restaurant is amazing-- I think that's the best buttermilk waffle we've had, along with the berry coconut smoothie, and not to mention the pristine walk-in infinity pool-- and all the staff were friendly, accommodating, and welcoming to me and my toddler who gleefully romped around the property. It's a small, intimate resort with a moderate-high price point, but we got lucky with an off season room rate and booking a month in advance. It's located at the bottom of the hill from Uptown, and the valet offers a golf cart shuttle service up and down the hill, which my kiddo referred to as "the ride" and was excited each time we took it. I'd say this is a good spot if you're traveling alone with kids as the staff is very helpful and you can access the creek to rock hop or chase bugs (we found a toy net and some buckets down there maybe left by another family and my toddler happily scooped water creekside while I relaxed with my feet submerged), or just looking for a peaceful escape. Subtracting a star for two primary reasons: expense... an 8 oz smoothie is $13, for instance, and not all the external facing patio rooms have a very contained view cuz you'll be looking out at the adjacent properties (though there's a good amount of foliage coverage and it's quiet) and from the courtyard rooms there is peripheral noise from the courtyard activities. BUT that being said, this place is extremely clean, pleasant, and I'd be stoked to return to the Amara again for a future visit. read more
