Loved this quaint place! We were on a getaway trip with family and couldn't resist trying this winery. I'm so glad we made a point to go. Their wine bottle prices weren't ridiculously high and they offered charcuterie platters and cheese trays- yum! My husband and I each had 5 tastings to better sample their varietals. We were both floored with the Demigod. Their curtain call was also made our top 3 list. If you go, you just try their hatch chili wine!! While we both preferred their green hatch, the red was different and might better suit others palates. Their sweet wines are definitely sweet and would please those with that as their preference. Nice place to enjoy a nice glass of wine, cider, or beer while enjoying the beautiful Cloudcroft weather. There's seating inside and out. This place is divided into two sections, one section is the store where you can buy various snack items, oils, and souvenirs. The other section has the bar, here you can enjoy various items such as their charcuterie board which is delicious or buy some bottles of wine to-go or to enjoy in store. The service is always friendly and they do have various specials/deals on certain days of the week. Although this place is a lot smaller than the one in ruidoso, it's still a very enjoyable place to stop by and share a bottle of wine with your favorite friend/relatives. read more

This is a cute, little wine spot in Cloudcroft! They are also in Ruidoso, along with other smaller towns in New Mexico like Alto and Red River. This location is in the middle of a few shops. It's right next to Burro Street Bakery (which has amazing pies BTW!). We decided to do a wine tasting. I can't recall if they have different options for the wine tastings. We chose five wines for $5. I think that's a decent price! The samples are on the smaller side but you can't beat the price. They have tables inside and outside, along with a bar area. We stayed in the bar area. My favorite wines were the Mango Tango and the Moscato. We tried some red wines like black cherry but I wasn't a fan. Nothing against the winery, I really don't like how red wines from anywhere taste. My bf liked the red wines, though. We bought three bottles of wine to take home, Moscato, Mango Tango and black cherry. We also received some Asiago cheese free with the wine purchase! That was a really nice touch. :) It tastes good on top of crackers...and of course with the wine! The white wines go down smoothly on a hot El Paso day. You could even add fruit in them like mango, peaches, grapes, etc...sort of like a bellini if you will. The customer service was excellent here. Talking to the employee was like catching up with an old friend. She was super kind and helpful. She knew a lot about the wines and the area. She told us she grew up nearby. Definitely worth the two-hour drive from El Paso. I would come back in a heartbeat. Guess what? They also sell their wine online! I'd still drive here anyway! read more

I'm updating this because I re-read what I wrote and it doesn't properly convey how awesome this business is. Highly recommend a visit. Welcoming and unique. I have visited multiple times from Texas over the past year and COVID has impacted this business (obviously) but they continue to rise to the occasion! Unique gifts, quality wine & cheese pairings, other nifty gifts. I've been a couple of times and they were open for purchases, but closed for wine tastings. FINALLY- we popped in to just grab a bottle of wine and the girl behind the counter lightly mentions they are allowed to do wine tastings again! So, naturally, I said yes. Coldest wine tasting I've ever participated in since we had to stay outside on the patio, BUT well worth it! I'd like to mention this was about 20 minutes before they closed down, I made zero mention of tastings, and was ready to make a purchase and leave. Due to the phenomenal service from both, Lily and Jessica, we were able to successfully participate in a wine tasting and had a great experience. We'll be coming back soon!! read more

Great wine tasting experience! The tasting includes your choice of 3 different wines and finished with their famous green or red Chile wine. So technically 4 tastings total. I recommend the green Chile over the red. It tastes like a sweet white with a kick of green chile. In times of COVID-19 they have front patio seating with heat lamps near by, but still recommend dressing warm to sit outside this time of year! They also have various cheese/meat/salsa platters to pair with the wine! read more

We were absolutely delighted by our time visiting this winery in early June 2021. My husband and I had just gotten to town on a 10-day vacation all over NM & AZ. We were a bit tired from traveling from TN, but we wandered into this spot and found it to be a perfect low-key way to wrap up our afternoon before dinner. Lily greeted us and asked if we wanted to do a tasting. Having never had wine from NM, we were for it. At first we were concerned you only got 3 tastings, as we're used to tasting in TN where you receive 5-8 tastings because everything is served in a communion cup. We were not disappointed though when we found that each tasting was a decent pour so that you actually had enough to truly try each wine you selected. Lily gave us an overview and left us to peruse the list, and then she was excellent and knowledgeable about answering our questions to help us make our selections. Everything we tried was delicious! We also tried some of the chile wine at the end (they offer that as a bonus 4th tasting) and learned that, as Lily put it, "it's unusual to find a winery in NM that DOESN'T have a green chile wine!" I can't say it was our favorite, but we also are not used to consuming much green chile. They had snacks we could have purchased, but we knew we were heading to dinner and didn't want to eat anything. It was also close to closing time by the time we finished the tasting and didn't want to be THOSE people, otherwise we probably would have enjoyed a glass of one of our favorites before leaving. We had the best time chatting with Lily while we tasted, and we were so impressed by her service. She was the only one working and the place was BUSY, especially for a Wednesday afternoon seemingly in the middle of nowhere. She managed to tend to everyone while also being friendly and spending time connecting with each customer (though I would still argue that she should have some help despite her terrific ability to rock being a one-woman host). It was truly a lovely experience and a great way to kick off our vacation! read more

I want to be honest. I rate places based on the whole experience, not just what their specialty is. This is a wine bar that sells wine from their winery. It has a cute side store that sells wine and kitchen goods, souvenirs, etc. The staff is super nice, the place is super cute, the ambiance is super chill, they even had a musician singing and playing outside. Overall a lovely experience. For the wine, unfortunately I'm very picky and I really only like dry, bold reds. I sampled eight of their dryest and boldest and found them all to be just okay, not very distinctive. I didn't get a chance to go back and try their other wines. Maybe next time I'm in Cloudcroft. read more

Fantastic Wines! Very good service and a big selection of Wines plus Olives Oils and Vinergarites! I loved the Wines and the great service. The mountain town of Cloudcroft is charming! Lots of cool shops for shopping and there is a fabulous Mexican eatery as well. I highly recommend a visit to Cloudcroft which is not far from the city of Alamogordo, NM. Such a great experience! Our server, Ashley, was so knowledgeable and helpful. She really made our time here great because she had the best explanations, tips, and specialty drink options to give us. I drive from El Paso Texas just to come here.Today I was very excited to visit and was rudely greeted by a woman I've never met before. She seemed extremely Irritated as if she did not want to be there. I've never been treated so badly before. She was very sour. I think her name is Panise? Cloudcroft Store is wonderful. Stopped there just before Christmas (and during COVID) and the place was a wonderful romantic experience. Cold as all get out that day on the porch, but they had the heaters going and were really helpful. Awesome bartender/host staff (especially Lili). Very friendly - asked our names - and really helped us on choosing some great wines. Also had a tasty charcuterie board. Underpriced if anything - so very good bargain. Great wines, especially "Yo Mama" and the Demi-Cabernet. Ended up buying an entire case. Highly recommend. Am so glad they stayed open during COVID (and they kept it safe). read more

First off the wine tasting and ambiance of the store is great, HOWEVER....the lady helping me was very informative about the cheeses they carry and how some pair with the wines they sell. With that being said I tried the Asiago which was great with the wine I was sampling so I said I would take a block, she said " your in luck, that is buy 1 get 1 free"..cool. So i get back home 2 hours later and discover the cheese expired on 6/13/19...now I know the dates aren't always accurate, but to sell out dated cheese without saying it is on sale because of the date borders on Fraud. What a shame that ignorance or arrogance ruined a great experience. Will NOT be going back there any time soon. Beware, check the dates because obviously they DON'T!!! read more

I had been here before after moving back to southern New Mexico. I will be clear, the wine, cheese, and oils are great and the ambience is beautiful. It's a nice little spot in the shopping center. However, I felt the customer service was a bit lacking when I visited today. When I went in, the tables were full and I spoke to the lady at the front and informed her my husband and I did want to wine taste there. I asked if they took reservations as the tables were full and she said "No just come back in 15-20 minutes". Now I understand most places don't do reservations so I informed her again we did want to wine taste and asked if she could write my name if I waited outside on the bench that is DIRECTLY in front of their door. The reason I asked for this is because the Cloudcroft shops are one where customers walk right in to shops and while there are some benches, one might think another shopper is simply resting and not in line. We did pass at least 3-4 other restaurants and they were all taking names and forming lines which I think is the most appropriate response considering the COVID challenges and social distancing. When I explained my position, the lady responded again, "We don't take reservations". I ended up just waiting inside the restaurant which was not a comfortable experience as I prefer not to put pressure on the other patrons. Mind you, there were only 4 tables set up. While we got a table and wine, it left a sour experience and I felt the service we received afterward was abrupt. I am not sure if I will go back. Would offer a suggestion that if the wine room will not at least form some sort of substantive line for customers, please understand that this may result in customers waiting to be served. And would also recommend for the workers to not parrot the same responses to customers who are only trying to support their businesses. read more

My girlfriend and I love to escape to Cloudcroft every time we need a day trip. And the highlight of our trip is always the wine tasting. Usually it's an amazing experience but unfortunately this last time we were there, a short Hispanic girl working the bar just made the experience unforgettable and definitely not in a positive way. She had a sour face from the moment we walked in and was completely rude through out the entire time we were visiting. Usually we buy a bottle after the wine tasting but we decided to go across the street to a liquor store that sells the winery's bottles and bought it from them instead. Hopefully she's not there next time. Would hate to drive hours just for the trip to be ruined by her attitude again. read more
