I had been a client of Kali's for over a year and was disappointed with my most recent experience. I was charged for highlights that I did not receive. I was told the service took the same amount of time, which I understand; however, only one color was added while my existing blonde was left as-is. Although it initially looked fine, once my haircut was completed, all of the blonde was cut out. Given that Kali knew I was also getting a haircut, I expected more of the blonde to be preserved. When I expressed concern, I was told there was no time to correct the issue, so I scheduled a correction with another stylist. When I returned to the salon, the environment felt uncomfortable and awkward. Kali was present but did not acknowledge me, and I was never made aware of who the manager was. Overall, the experience was disappointing, especially as I was always punctual and consistently tipped at least 20%, including for the correction. I could not wait to leave. The total cost was $232 (including tip) for a retouch with no highlights, despite being charged for them, plus $141 for the correction--$373 total. I ultimately left with brunette hair, which was not my expectation. I did go to Salon Adagio for the correction with Olivia, and I was very happy with the results. Sandy at Amata has been wonderful! I've gone to her twice so far and have loved my experience! The first time I went I asked for some length off and for a slightly different style and she nailed it! This last time she added in a few baby highlights to help prep my hair for the wedding that was in a few weeks to give it more texture in photos! And each time she matched my vibes for chit chatting. Hali is an AMAZING lash tech!!!! I did lashes with her twice... once was a trial and the second time was for my wedding. I have not been back in three years (because I do not get my lashes done regularly) but I still recommend her to everyone, because seriously she did such an amazing beautiful job!! The lashes looked absolutely stunning both times, they were not way too dramatic and did not look fake or like strip lashes. The price is up there, which is very typical of lash extensions but it was definitely worth it for the quality that she does. Hali also does a really good job of making a cozy and relaxing atmosphere for you. She has relaxing music playing and the room is warm and I fell asleep both times she did it and she was okay with that. She can sense if you want to talk or not which is really great (because not everyone can tell and will keep trying to talk to you, even if you aren't in the mood). read more

Today was the second time i've been to Amata and just to preface, I was giving it a second chance. I went to Amata for the first time last summer and they put so much bleach in my hair that it turned orange and burnt my scalp. Fortunately I was able to get in the next day to fix it. I ended up dyeing my hair brown in November at a salon near my college and I recently decided I wanted to go back to blonde. When I told my stylist at Amata that I wanted to ease back into blonde I was not expecting to receive white stripes throughout my hair. Not only was I extremely disappointed with the outcome, my entire appointment felt rushed and lazy. I told her that I had used box dye over quarantine and would like to put a treatment in my hair. I never received a treatment nor did she ever fully dry my hair. Never before have I left a salon with wet hair. When i got home and finished drying my hair I immediately drove back to the salon. I was told that I would have to wait over two weeks in order to get it fixed. I was given a refund but now I am stuck with zebra hair for my birthday tomorrow. Highly disappointed!! read more

Unfortunately, my experience at this salon was not great. My hair was extremely dry after the coloring and after showing the stylist what I was looking for, ended up leaving the salon with the same color as when I went in. She only colored the top of my hair and when everything was all done, she just blow dried it and sent me on my way. I felt like I was an inconvenience being in her chair and that she was just trying to get me out so she could get home. Needless to say, worst salon experience anywhere ever - waste of $ and I will GLADLY continue to drive 2hours to see my old stylist going forward. read more

ABSOLUTELY HUMILIATED. Stylists and atmosphere are A-plus but a conversation with the manager has left my jaw on the floor. When I asked her why I had to pay full price for my first set of extensions that turned out to be bad and in the course of that conversation mentioned that the second set were also bad, she fired me as a client saying that because I didn't complain soon enough about my second set of bad extensions, I am a "red flag" and not a "candidate" for her salon. They knew the second set was bad because they changed suppliers soon after mine were put in because they were having so many problems with them...so I didn't think I had to complain-they knew about it. I thought I was being nice NOT complaining. I also happened to be in the middle of a divorce and moving so following some little "policy" of theirs about complaining immediately if you're not happy was not on the top of my priority list. It's just hair and wasn't that big of deal to me. That's why when she explained to me that I had to pay full price for my first set because I didn't complain within two weeks, I was like, "ohhhh, that's right, ok, cool. Makes sense. Thanks". I thought the conversation was over and all was good when she proceeded to condescendingly explain I was no longer a "candidate" for her salon because I was such a 'red flag" for not following her policies and she cancelled my upcoming appointment and said I can no longer go there. (Jaw went to floor.) I actually I begged her to reconsider (because I love my stylist) but to her it was so horrifying that I "didn't complain for a full year" as she kept saying over and over. Later thinking about it, I remembered that I told my stylist at my next appointment that they were riding up like the last ones and I had to use a fine tooth comb for hours to get out all the bad hairs. So I told them 8-10 weeks later. I DIDN'T wait a whole year. I still didn't make their deadline but because I was made to feel like scum for "waiting for a year"- the horror!, I want to set the record straight. To make matters worse, the receptionist I initially talked to completely distorted my initial question. She actually told the the manager I didn't want to pay for new extensions from the new supplier which is COMPLETELY false and ridiculous; I was asking about the past set of extensions and once told the reason why they were not discounted, I was completely happy. I JUST ASKED A QUESTION because I had forgotten the story and had this nagging question in the back of my head. But the manager wouldn't believe me. It was one after another of complete customer service fails: not getting the full story and believing the worst about a client before making a decision, talking condescendingly to a client and making them feel like they did some terrible thing (for being nice and not complaining loudly enough?). So in the end, I've had a year and half of sub-par extensions and just as I was excited to try the new brand, I made the mistake of asking a question and got banned from the salon. Even tho the extensions turned out to have problems I was very happy up to the end. Its just hair after all. The issue I have is how I was treated when I asked a question. read more
