However, Kennedy at the Hazel Dell location has been repeatedly rude. Last time I came in, she asked, "is there a reason you're coming in 5 minutes before closing?" I apologized and said I hadn't realized the hours had changed, she rudely replied, "we've been on holiday hours for a while now." Even tho I felt bad, at the end of the day I was there BEFORE closing. Then last wknd, she told me I was required to download the app because my ID doesn't scan (it's out of state) I've coming forever, and often use my passport as ID is required if you don't have the app, in which I have my ID. PBT doesn't pay my phone bill and I don't have to download anything on my personal device just to make her job easier. I bring in the required documents and that should suffice. After telling me 5x that I need to download the app, she treated me like I was stupid and asked if I needed her help to do it! (So rude) and then told me as I was leaving that she will not check me in next time. So just like that, a loyal customer of 20 years can no longer go back. That aspect makes Tropical Image unique to other local salons. The reason I do not rate 5 stars is because they lack the range of beds I like to have available. The only high pressure level 5 they have is the matress version of the Matrix High Pressure, which is a 24 minutes bed due to turning over halfway in between which means whatever side you laid on first will have half the lotion left behind on the mattress rather than your skin.. It just is an old ghetto bed and they have a few others that could use serious upgrading. And that High Pressure is offered at one instead of both locations. Other than that the prices are affordable, the staff is welcoming and patient, and the environment overall is 95% awesome!

I booked with Hannah online and mentioned I have thick long hair and wanted a chop for summer. I've never been to this salon before, but know from past experience it's important to note thick hair while booking. Their online booking system requires the stylist to "okay" the appointment, so someone must have seen the note about thick hair. At other salons, most stylists will see the note and book out an extra 45 mins..or call to reschedule with an additional block of time. This never happened and lead to maybe the worst salon experience I've ever had? Hannah started cutting my hair, and was a quarter way through before she mentioned I'd have to leave with wet hair due to time constraints. I wish she would have been honest and up front and I would have rescheduled or found a new salon for a cut that would include a blow dry + style. She shampooed my hair for less than 4 minutes and everything just felt so rushed! I was expecting to see another client waiting for her but that was not the case. I was in and out of the salon in less than an hour. She gave me her card so I could contact her if the layers dried funny or looked bad...so off I left with wet hair and a potential hack job of a haircut.
