This tanning salon is a complete scam operation. I was charged over $600 in fees for services I didn't even use for three of the months I was locked into their shady contract. Trying to resolve the issue was a nightmare, instead of working with me like a professional, the owner chose to argue, deflect blame, and treat me like I was the problem. He even sold me expired tanning lotion, yes, expired and had the nerve to act smug and defensive when I brought it up. I've never met someone more arrogant running a business, and to be honest, I'm not sure he's capable of a clear conversation when he seems so amped up it's like he's straight out of a bad gym ad. Save yourself the frustration and money. There are plenty of other salons in town that won't treat you like trash and won't lock you into sketchy contracts while feeding you expired products. I came in and purchased a 5 pack of tans before a trip, $135 (cuz they don't tell you about the additional fee to use a card etc) and then as I stood at the counter finishing my purchase, I noticed the monthly rate was less than what I just paid for 5 sessions. So I asked if I could do the monthly subscription instead. Gal at counter said sure and proceeded my payment for the monthly package. Then I said and you'll just refund the original purchase? And she held up a sign that said "all sales are final" and said we don't do refunds. So I was charged for BOTH the 5 session pack and the monthly subscription!! And they refuse to do a refund. She called the manager and he said "sorry our machines don't process refunds" what? Makes no sense. So I was just charged $250 at this place. I feel like I've been totally scammed!! read more

The place is clean and I am sure they have some good basic tan services, but they should NOT be advertising "Red Light Therapy" as that is NOT what they have to offer. Luckily I got the new client trial special so only lost $21, but beware that if you are looking for "Red Light Therapy", that's not the place to go for it. You will get pink old florescent lights installed into an old tanning bed, it gets really hot (as a tanning session does) and it's NOT good. Red Light Therapy involves LED lights, NO heat and far more intense "red". I was looking forward to going to Lux, but my visit was a total disappointment. read more

This might be the first time I have ever written a negative review but I think it is well deserved. I am very disappointed and feel ripped off. I purchased a Groupon for one cryotherapy session. In the fine print of the groupon it says (Not valid for clients active within the past 12 month(s).) I did not see that. Which was MY fault. I did a session of cryo here prior to try it out and the first session was very disappointing because they do a less cold shorter duration session. I really wanted to get the full experience to determine if I'd like to keep coming back but they refused to accept my voucher, they refused to credit my voucher so I could use it for their current promotional price for a single session, and they refused to refund me the money or negotiate a reasonable solution. I am at a loss.... To sum it up. I made a mistake and paid for a promotion that I couldn't use they made it a point to capitalize on my mistake rather than help me come to a mutual solution. The cryotherapy chamber isn't even as cold as my shower, the owner wouldn't accept my Groupon, refund it, or even talk with me about it, and.... THE CRYO CHAMBER ISNT EVEN AS COLD AS MY SHOWER... save your money take a cold shower, or an ice bath, or perhaps go somewhere in Portland with a legitimate cryo chamber. I'm only in town for the week, and just wanted to be in a sun bed on a whim, so I looked up what was closest to me and ended up here! I was planning on just doing a single session. After the friendly staff and who I think was the owner helped me out by giving me a tour and showing me what they offer (which is quite a bit!), I chose to do a session in one of their medium level beds. They sold me two sessions for the price of one, which was more than I'd expect most people to do, and I thought that was really cool of them. I have been coming to Lux Tan in Salmon Creek for a few years on and off. The services and bed options get better and better and the prices stay the same. (Affordable) My favorite beds are the lay down and stand up high pressure lamps. They also do pretty generous discounts on lotions during their sales. I love love love Lux tan. I've been going there for years and was so excited when they told me they were expanding to Vancouver. I often have to travel between Tigard and Vancouver because my boyfriend lives there so having another tan option is amazing. Especially living in PDX with all the rain. I've used just about every bed they have to offer and they are all great. My favorite is the high pressure bed; it's well worth the extra money and gives you a deep tan that lasts longer. Their mystic tan is also great if you want to do a 'cocktail' before a special event. Probably going to do that for New Years :) Every time I walk in I'm always greeted and feel welcomed, I'm never pushed about buying lotions or tans, the beds are always cleaned, and I've noticed they often change their lights so you know you're getting a good tan. Honestly I've never had anything but a good experience tanning with them and really won't go anywhere else now. I've tried multiple other places throughout the years and this is the only place that I will go to. If you're looking for a new place to tan check them out! Came here again while I was in town visiting family, and needless to say I had to update my review with another five stars for Lux! Why isn't there a Lux in NYC or Miami??! The staff here is absolutely so friendly and welcoming - not overly salesy and they even remembered me as soon as I walked in the door even though I hadn't been in in months! On top of how personable they are can we talk about how CLEAN this salon is and all the tanning beds are? Didn't have a good experience trying to use a Groupon here, I got my money refunded from Groupon the day I used my first red light therapy session. The next day a manager from Lux Tan - Neil - called and apologized for the way things were handled, I appreciate the fact that they wanted and are going to fix the issue that I had with some wording that was on the Groupon and he offered me additional red light therapy sessions on top of that. It was incredibly generous and kind of him to do that. I am gracious for the fact that he handled the situation so well and that he provided an apology for the way I was treated. This is an updated review to a previous one I deleted. I am happy with the way Neil handled my first not so great experiemce and wanted to turn that around for me, however I just felt uncomfortable with one of the staff members and that's where the 4 stars comes in. I'm sure that she is a great employee to other clients, I just had a weird experience so please don't be turned off by the 4 stars. I was not informed a cryo package (which didn't give any benefit although I admittedly only had one session) was non-refundable. I called right after buying it and was told it was non refundable even though I'd used no sessions. They never told me that when I bought it and I was given the wrong email address to contact management to dispute upon calling. I got a call only after putting a bad review up and they were still not willing to refund and I was apologized to for getting an incorrect email address. She did say she would look into it but never called back. She offered to add a red light session to my cryo package which is what I actually thought I was buying anyway since it is what I had tried that dat but I have no proof because I only got a receipt for the $500 package. They won't do the right thing here so just be smarter than I was when making an impulse purchase because it will obviously be awkward using this now that I'm forced to. I called immediately to cancel because a friend told me they had a July special I wasn't told about and I also am no longer moving to the area. read more

Only thing that I would say that isn't so customer friendly is weekend hours. Don't open til late. 10 and 11am. I bought a package deal from the previous owner. When i came back in August to have a spray tan, I learned the store had been bought by Lux Tan. They informed me I had until the end of the year to use 7 spray tans. Well, shortly thereafter, I went on a medication where I couldn't use the tans. I called back in April and asked to speak with someone in customer service, thinking perhaps they might honor even a small portion of what i had bought. Well, no one called back. So i left an another voicemail. A couple of days later, they called back. Once I was able to reach the store, i spoke with Neil and explained the situation. He said there was absolutely nothing he could do for me, other than "offer you a really good deal on a spray tan package.". I told him I probabaly wouldn't be coming back as they didnt really offer much in the way of customer service. He responded saying he indeed offered customer service in that they offered to give me free the free tans up until December. He even disclosed thst they previous owner had her spray tan unit repossessed and that they did a great thing by honoring the purchase. I think Neal has a lot to learn in the area of customer service. I would have been happy with even 1 of the remaining tans. It wouldn't have been as offended if he had just showed some sympathy instead of telling me how awesone they are. The real lesson is not to ever buy a "package" deal on services. Especially with a company that has shown such great customer service as Lux Tan. read more

I am disgusted by the way this salon operates and their lack of customer service. I reluctantly bought a membership when Lux took over Ultimates tans, only because it's located close to my home. During my time using the salon the owner Neal decided it was ok for him to take my personal number from their records and texted me multiple times, none of which had anything to do with my tanning membership. This is actually very ILLEGAL, especially when he texted me to tell me I look pretty and saying we needed to hang out... all of which were unwanted & ignored. I decided to cancel my membership, but the money was still taken out of my account for the next month. Neal refused to refund my money, saying that he would get charged a fee that he didn't want to pay. He also told me that he and his staff never make mistakes and basically accused me of not canceling my membership, which I most definitely had. Needless to say, I am disgusted with the owner and this business, and will never be supporting them again in the future. What a horrible way to run a business, and I will not have anything to do with any location of Lux Tans. read more
