Underwhelmed. I see a lot of good reviews about this place, but I found it very lacking in taste. It's extremely close to me which makes it even more disappointing. There aren't a lot of *really* good Chinese places around Pittsburgh. This time we decided to try dinner instead and ordered the General Tso's, the Mei Fun, and Buddha's Delight. The Mei Fun came with chicken, pork, shrimp, and vegetables. I really liked the flavor of the noodles and especially enjoyed the shrimp and vegetables. The pork and chicken were fine, but I kept finding myself going back to the vegetables and shrimp. The Buddha's Delight was also good. I loved how much variety there was in the vegetables which included bamboo shoots, broccoli, onions, celery, snow peas, water chestnuts, baby corn, and mushrooms which were all standouts. I was less excited about the tofu at first, but appreciated it more the next day when I mixed them with my own noodles. The General Tso's had a well-balanced flavor and I must say that I feel this was noticeably better than Hunan Wok's version, which skews more toward candy-sweet. The service is always incredibly kind and lightning fast. While the takeout containers held up well and kept everything secure without anything leaking, my one wish is that they'd move away from black plastic containers, since black plastics can sometimes contain flame retardants being that they often used recycled electronics. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Next time I'll probably lean more toward vegetable-focused dishes, and am curious about the rest of the menu. I also plan to try bringing my own container for takeout when I come back so as to avoid the black plastic.
