Long overdue review. Love going out with my peeps when off the clock. It's even better when I'm not the organizer. So when our dear friend Andie invited me out, I couldn't say no. This place is tiny, but the food packs a big punch. We came for a feast and a feast we had. There were so many dishes that spun around the table but they were all as good as the conversation that was had among us all. My standouts were the shredded beef with hot peppers, the Vegetarian Triple Delight (that eggplant was everything) and the Salted Duck Egg Yolk Crusted Pumpkin. They also let us bring in a cake to celebrate our friends upcoming birthdays. The staff really was great with our big group. What a wonderful place to celebrate.

Amber Asian restaurant offers an authentic Chinese dining experience. You won't find general tso's chicken or egg foo young offered here. This is a blend of traditional chinese food with middle eastern influences. Cumin, coriander, pepper corns and jalapeno peppers are generously used. They deliver the heat, but it's tempered and balanced The blend and use of spices is the star of the show. You'll run up a bead of sweat but not a soaking one, which could get a little nasty:) The interior is small yet cozy. It's perfect for a casual dinner or a small group gathering like ours of 18 people. Our friend Andie E. organized and selected the dishes ahead of time as she's been here before and the dishes have been "battle tested". We had cumin lamb, pan fried flouder with cumin, shredded beef with hot peppers, salt and pepper shrimp, salt and pepper fried squid, triple delight veggies, beef tendon in brown sauce, salted duck yolk over pumpkin, sliced pork with mushrooms. For dessert we had a molten sugar coated sweet yam with dates, everything was delicious! The staff is friendly and service was impeccable! The portion sizes are generous and the price is fair. If you enjoy spicy food with a middle eastern flair of spices, Amber is a must-visit for spice lovers and those seeking an authentic Szechuan like influenced dining experience. There is parking in the back which you gain access via Elder Ave. Once parked in the back you need to walk around to gain access on Kissena blvd. Happy Birthday to Andie and a huge thanks to Mike S. for buying and paying for the cake. A toast to Andie "Much health, love, happiness and more UYE'S to come. Cheers!"

All the Elites just enjoying ourselves.

This was an amazing visit to Amber Asian Restaurant. You could not ask for a better evening than trying out a new restaurant with 18 of your favorite YELP Elites. Many thanks to Andie E. for introducing us to Dong Bei cuisine and organizing this great event. My wife and I welcomed the opportunity to try some authentic Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is on Kissena Blvd and located next to a supermarket. This worked out very conveniently since we had a parking lot in the back and did not have to look for a space or pay for parking. We were a large group of 18 and clearly taking up more than half of the front of the restaurant. I understand that there is additional seating in the back and downstairs. This shop is definitely very quaint and focused on all the great food they make. Very modest wall art and coverings. Thank you to fellow Elite ChunM. for this explanation [right from his review]: "Dong Bei Cai (東北菜) literally means East North cuisine, referring to the northeastern provinces of China, in what used to be called Manchuria. The signature tastes are various spices, both fragrant and spicy hot, similar to Szechuan style. You see a lot of pickled veggies, hot chili peppers and cumin used in many dishes." Once they started bringing out dishes, the incredible dishes of food just kept coming. As Elites, it is mandatory that we all take pictures prior to taking food. It was pretty funny to see the dish go around on the carousel and each person take a picture. Now, what did we have: - Shredded Beef & Spicy Peppers (HOT!) - Fried Squid & Red Chili Peppers (Not too hot) - Cumin Lamb - Vegetarian Triple Delight (eggplant, red & green sweet peppers) - Sliced Pork & Mushrooms (not spicy) - Braised Beef Tendon (very tender) - Salt, Pepper & Garlic Fried Shrimp (w/ heads!) - Salted Duck Egg Yolk crusted Pumpkin - Whole Cumin Pan-Fried Flounder Everything was delicious and it was fun to try new tastes and flavors. The portions were ample and people were easily able to have seconds of the dishes. My favorites here were the Fried Squid and the shredded Beef with Spicy Peppers. It looks like the old "beef with Green Beans" but don't let that fool you, this was spicy hot... really really hot. The shrimp were also delicious. Just rip off the head, peel and eat. Dessert was Fried Yams & Dates coated in molten sugar and was delicious. We were warned that the inside was hot and for good reason... It was rewally hot, not spicy hot... temperature hot. The wait staff was wonderful-fantastic and really helped to make for a great culinary experience. BUT... there is nothing like a gathering of Yelp Elites, we just enjoy being together, laughing, telling stories and of course, eating great food. A very special shoutout [thank you ] to Andie who put together this great evening. It was also great to have us all together to celebrate her birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDIE.... wishing you a the goods things. KUDOS to the team at Amber Asian Restaurant

Dongbei Chinese restaurant. The food was pretty good. My sister picked up food here so I'm not sure of the exact names of the dishes. I enjoyed the stewed beef with potatoes and the eggplant. They were flavorful and the beef was so tender. The sweet and sour fish comes with a simple tofu soup made with the fish bones.

I had such an amazing time at Amber Asian with my Yelp friends. This wasn't a Yelp event but I wasn't invited by one of my Yelp bestie's Andie. I had some amazing food the calamari, the beef schezwan, the lamp were all so good and flavorful. I tasted beef tendon which was surprisingly not bad, the dessert was candied yam (different than I ever had it & it was absolutely delicious). I love that Andie puts me on to so much more Asian cuisine that I never tried before. The service was great the vibes were great & it's inexpensive which is a super plus. I would recommend. Thanks so much.

Been here three times now, twice under this new name Amber Asian. It was operating under Xin Xing Shunda prior. Either way, still a great value and always a great meal whenever I'm here. Fellow Yelper Andie I. Introduced this place to me along with many others; we had tried so many dishes, which I'm happy to recommend: - my all time favorite: deep fried shishamo fish, it's a flat white flesh fish, like a flounder. Deep fried as listed. Seasoned with cumin, paprika, pepper and a variety of spices. It looks like it packs heat but it doesn't. It packs a lot of flavor! Must try! - sauteed cumin lamb, think thinly sliced lamb sauteed with red peppers, scallions and onions. It's so good. - sliced pork with wood ear, good classic home-style dish - mapo tofu, I could eat this all day with a bowl of rice - pumpkin tossed with salted egg yolk, looks like fries but it's pumpkin. I just like the texture and the salted egg yolk flavor - mild but still satisfying. - beef in golden soup, this was surprisingly packed with a little heat. Contains glass noodles, vinegar mustard greens, sliced fatty beef, and a golden broth. It's a tad oily but it's just darn good especially on a cool winter night and you want soup. - sauteed eggplant, great sauce Again so many wonderful dishes to try. The value here goes a long way. Every dish is meant to be shared family style. You can order rice on the side. Wait staff is very nice and service is pretty quick. Opens late and reservations suggested if you're a large group. Private rooms available. Parking lot is shared with the adjacent supermarket I'm told.

This is Hong Kong style done right, and in Flushing you're getting the real thing at prices that genuinely rival what you'd pay in China. We lucked into a nice day and grabbed a seat outside. Service was fast and furious, which is exactly what you should expect and honestly want from a spot like this. You're not here for a leisurely dining experience, you're here to eat something delicious and get on with your day. My one gripe, and it applies to the whole surrounding area and not just Maxi's: there are basically no bathrooms to be found. Plan accordingly before you commit to a big bowl of soup. Cheap, tasty, authentic. Everything a Flushing noodle spot should be.

Obsessed. It's perfectly crisp and tangy, and pairs so well with the noodles. I always order the chicken knife-cut noodles, they're comforting, flavorful, and absolutely hit the spot, especially on a cold day. My daughter tried the kimchi seafood noodles, and that was a total win too. I've been coming here for years, and it's been consistently good every single time. A true comfort spot

I was told that the noodles are homemade, and the texture was chewy but not overly soft. If you get the order to-go, you best eat it ASAP because they do not separate the noodles from the broth. The bowl was filled with a bunch of clams, mussels, one shrimp, zucchini and carrot slices, and potatoes. The clams were flavorless and a little sandy, but the mussels were good. The broth was clear and flavorful, but not overly salty. The seafood pancake was good. Portion size is big, batter very crispy, it's oily but it doesn't feel that way when you eat it. Only con is I wish there was a little more seafood. You are given banchan of freshly fermented kimchi and radish kimchi. I prefer fermented pungent kimchi because I enjoy the sour taste, and though the radish kimchi was really chunky it was on the sweet side, so I wasn't a fan. The staff speaks Korean and Chinese.

We also came at a weird lunch time around 2pm so it wasn't really busy and we were seated right away. Once you enter, you'd quickly notice the very detailed beautifully hand painted murals on the walls and an abundance of painted butterflies. The attention to detail is impeccable! The menu is also very cute and I'm guessing handmade. It was pretty detailed and we appreciated learning about each dish before deciding what to order. We ended up ordering the Kimchi Pancake with seafood, the spicy bulkoki udon and the jeyuk udon. The kimchi seafood pancake was super crispy and filled with squid and shrimp! It also came with a semi sweet dipping sauce that paired nicely. Both udons came out piping hot and fresh! Udon had a nice chew to it, was loaded with vegetables as well as meat for each dish. The egg was fried and did not have a runny yolk. For sides, they gave us 4 things- a tomato salad, kimchi cucumbers, braised string beans, and bean sprouts. The tomato salad came in this cute apple shaped dish but neither of us really cared for it- this is completely biased though since we're not really fans of tomato. What we really did love was the kimchi cucumbers! Also at the end, they served us 3 pieces of cantaloupe which were very sweet. Overall, yummy food, cute shop, and friendly/nice staff! I'd come back to try their other food options in the future!

The food came out quick! Their kitchen is in the basement and they have the dumb waiter sending up food, so very efficient use of space. The Dumplings in Chili Oil (can adjust spice level and cilantro) has added texture with crushed peanuts. We got the regular spicy, but could have gotten extra spicy. They were a decent appetizer but I'd go for something else. The Abalone and Chicken Rice Noodles had decent chicken flavor. There were a couple pieces of dark meat, which I enjoyed. Not sure if there was abalone in here, but if there was, it was nondescript. The rice noodles were well cooked. The Plum Juice had a lovely smokey flavor, along with a lemony flavor form the couple of lemon slices inside. It was not too sweet, though I personally could go for less sugar. Overall, a decent spot for rice noodles. They do have multiple locations, so go to the one near you! No need to go out of your way.
