Such a hidden gem in Flushing! I genuinely had to double check that I was still in Queens because it felt like I had somehow wandered into a cozy little spot in Manhattan. It was indeed a verrrry hot day so I appreciated how the AC was absolutely blasting. I almost did a double take before walking in because I genuinely cannot do hot soup in this weather if there's no AC. Thankfully, it was nice and cool inside, which made the meal that much better. Everything was so thoughtfully done. The banchan were dangerously good (I could've kept eating them forever), and the collagen gomtang was rich, comforting, and perfect to share. My friend and I split one bowl, and they still brought us two bowls of rice, which was sooooo thoughtful. The staff is amazing. My friend and I definitely got carried away catching up, yet not once did we feel rushed. Instead, the staff kept making sure we were comfortable and even offered us more banchan. That level of hospitality is so rare and honestly made the entire meal feel extra special. Also... please do yourself a favor and order the Jeju Tangerine Fizz. It was hands down one of the most refreshing drinks I've had this summer and paired perfectly with the meal. Picked the perfect restaurant for the rainy and chilly weather today. Just had a facial and of course, had to order the collagen bone soup that was simmered for 12 hours. Took a sip of the soup and love how the soup is so flavorful and sticky. A true sign of "good stuff". The soup comes with rice and a bunch of banchan. Everything was SO delicious! I loved the cheese tteokgalbi, which were even better with the rosemary lime aioli dipping sauce. They start you off with barley tea and water, and we also got the jeju mandarin fizz which was 5/5 delicious - not sweet at all, fizzy, with a nice iced sorbet situation going on at the top. Genuinely thought that Woodam had serious potential to surpass Parksanbal, given their slightly more expansive but still specialized menu, fair prices, and their really aesthetic restaurant. However, after coming back to dine, I can see where they're just falling short. My fiance and I ordered the spicy gukbap, which is the same thing we got the first time around. Here's the thing - it's still good, but there's something about the soup that just lacks depth of flavor. I can't quite figure out what it is, but the overall broth is just very one note. The toppings have also changed a bit - there's less beef slices and just more tendon. Banchan here is still decent, but the flavors were quite muted and didnt' help much with changing up the flavor profiles. 4 stars because our server was great. She was very kind and attentive. However, I would really have to give this place 3 stars or lower in terms of the oxtail and short rib galbi-jjim. Was very excited to try this dish because of all the great reviews about it but it was quite disappointing. Not sure if we came in on a bad day but it was lacking flavor, under seasoned, and just overall very bland. However, they dont skimp out on the portion. Also, the oxtail and short rib were tender and fall off the bone. Just wish the sauce was more concentrated, with that key flavor base of soy sauce and a sweet element like a traditional galbijjim would. Cant really say much for the other dishes but would not recommend their oxtail and galbi jjim. Especially for the price. Our total came out to be around 86 before tip. Not worth it. read more

At this point, I have tried almost everything on their menu. It's like comfort food at this point! What I would always go back to is the lava rock cheese tteokgalbi which we always have to order 2 and the galbitang. The second time we went they were out of galbitang which gave us the opportunity to try the other soups. I had the collagen gomtang instead and it was good but I'd still prefer the galbitang which is more flavorful. But you could really tell that they cooked the gomtang for a long time because of all the collagen in the soup! Had the suyuk which was pretty good but the portion is small for a large group. We order the oxtail and short ribs jim for 2 as well and I thought it was pretty spicy. There wasn't much flavor of the meat because all you taste is spice, think this is the only item on the menu I would not get again. But def highly recommended! I wouldn't wait in line for this though and we were lucky that we didn't have to wait the first 2 times. read more

I've had better more authentic korean places in Flushing, though this restaurants was more nicely done up and more fusion. The galbijim was tender, but nothing out of the ordinary and there was just a bit too much beansprouts for my liking that it overpowered the entire dish and the meat even. Their gukbap was good and this was better than the the galbijim, and the lava rock cheest tteokgalbi was also decent. I stopped by late afternoon on a weekday and luckily there was no wait. I ordered the beef rice soup and a Jeju tangerine fizz drink. Woodam's most popular item right now is probably the beef soup which comes with banchan, rice and roasted seaweed. The drink came out first along with a dessert spoon to eat the tangerine sorbet in the drink. It was icy on the outside but very sweet in the middle. The drink was filled to the brim so be careful when drinking it. A very refreshing citrus drink that wasn't too sweet! I accidentally spilled some and the staff noticed right away and gave me napkins. The beef rice soup came out piping hot. It came along with 5 small side dishes which were mostly kimchi and potato salad. My soup came with one giant piece of bone on beef and it was tender enough that I could use my chopsticks to take off most of the meat. As the soup started to cool, I felt that the beef flavor of the soup seemed to become more concentrated and umami. I wanted to drink more of the soup but the spoon was a bit small to do that (I wish they had ramen style ladles). It also came with enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts and green onions. At the end, the check comes with a small piece of bakwa dessert to end a very filling and satisfying meal. I'd love to comeback to try their oxtail and galbijim dish. read more
