Best Korean braised short ribs I've had. Super tender and literally melt-in-your-mouth. Savory with a little sweetness. Tried Korean steamed skate for the first time. I didn't mind it, but it does have a strong, gas-like aftertaste that might not be for everyone. The tofu with kimchi and pork was a comforting combo. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely coming back to try more dishes. I also recommend the beef bone hangover soup, which is not in the pictures.
HOLY COW ... one of the best Korean food spots I've EVER been to!! Came here with my family through a recommendation and so happy that we did. The staff was very patient with us as we sat down and waited for the rest of the group to arrive ... 20 mins late. We were given menus but didn't feel rushed to order. We were given tea and asked if we wanted water for the table. We order the beef bone hangover soup hot pot, 2 individual beef bone hangover soups, galbi and tofu soup combo, army stew hot pot, and 2 galbi tangs. Everything was plentiful and delicious. The hot pots can definitely feed a few or just one hungry person ... I'll let you guess which one I am. The galbi was cooked to perfection with the percise fat to meat ratio and so flavorful! The galbi in the galbi tang was very tender. Will I return?!? HELL YEAH!! As we were walking out, my husband said, 'so we coming back tomorrow?' .. LOL. Don't have to ask me twice ... we'll be back tomorrow. Wishing Haejang continued success!!
Saw a TikTok of this restaurant and just had to try it. Thanks to that TikTok, it is now one of my favorite Korean restaurants. Super underrated and just hits the spot when I'm craving some Korean comfort food. First time here, we definitely over-ordered everything. The service was subpar the first visit, maybe because we sat in the back and the staff went on their lunch break, but we've had great service other times. The banchan here is the best -- love their fish cake, kimchi is fermented perfectly to my taste, and the radish is good too. They're pretty generous with the banchan too because they keep refilling. The menu of soups here is vast. The seaweed soup here is so simple but so good with the umami flavor. I thought their tofu soondobu was only okay and I wouldn't get again. The croaker is really good and huge. It was a bit dry though. The marinated raw crab was good but not the best. Majority of their dishes are good and affordable. Can't recommend this place enough.
Korean restaurant serving up soups, meats, and other classic dishes. Ratings: Rich ox bone soup 8/10 It's a clean light broth with a lot of small tendons and pieces in the soup. All of the meat is soft and tender. It doesn't have added flavor it tastes more like pure bone and tendon flavor without spices. Marinated pork ribs 8/10 Medium well pork ribs providing soft texture while being fully cooked. It's a flavorful marinated dish and even the onions underneath are soaking with the sweet sauce.
Clean and spacious. Haejang is a definite on my Korean restaurant rotation. Parking all around the area. Once you walk in, attentive staff! I sat and the menu was not overwhelming. I opted for the soondae soup set. The banchan was basic but the kimchi tasted good! The soup came piping hot and it was delicious! Unfortunately, the soondae itself was nothing special. I've had better (even at H-mart restaurant spot). By the way, get the "brown" rice. So much better than the normal white. As I was eating I saw the photos of the food on the tv so I decided to order an additional dish. The fried cuttlefish! (Aka calamari) and it was a big portioned fish that was delicious as well. Overall, I was satisfied and I would definitely come back to try the other items on the menu!
New spot near the broadway LIRR that is some of the best and refreshing Korean food out there. They serve you quickly and with positive attitude. Inside is very tidy and they play nice music. Yummy soups will leave you feeling revitalized
The best thing about Haejang is the decor - the space is large and pretty nice with lots of exposed brick, natural wood tables and concrete floor. There are two entrances you can enter on Crocheron - this is the higher dinner room with the same level as the kitchen. The other entrance is on Depot Rd. to the lower, and larger dining room. A staircase connects the two. The 1st time I was here the weather was cooler, the place was newer and it was fairly packed perhaps because the majority of their menu are various soups. The second time it was warmer out and not too busy. I tried a couple of the soups. The beef blood hangover soup, which my friend enjoyed. I tried the rich ox bone soup, which had a lot of collagen in a milk broth, which was pretty bland. We also tried the stir fried cuttlefish, which was more vegetables than cuttlefish. I've had better versions of this. The next time got the spicy stir-fried pork, which is a relatively safe option because it is generally delicious. There was more pork compared to the cuttlefish version of this dish, but again not the best version I had of this. Tried white and purple rice - purple rice was a bit gummy and disappointing. The banchan was not too memorable with the radish being particularly disappointing. My partner in crime also tried the spicy marinated crab I tasted the sauce. This dish isn't my thing - too messy and too much effort for too little reward, but she said it was decent. Service was friendly. The clientele were mainly Koreans so it seems to be a popular spot with their core demographic. Being blessed with many great Korean restaurants in the area Haejang doesn't crack my top five.
Nice interior to this restaurant. It has plenty of seatings and easy to find parking in the back of the residential area. The service wasn't so great in the beginning since we placed our orders but didn't get any banchan and got it after another table that ordered after us. The service gotten better and attentive when the server was another lady. We ordered the blood sausage and it came with 3 different fillings. Also, ordered the seafood pancake which was tasty. The spicy pork pot was the star of the show. It was so flavorful and the potatoes soaked up all the flavor. Add rice to it and perfection. I would come again, if was a really nice hearty meal.
My friends and I tried a variety of dishes. I enjoyed the LA galbi, rich ox bone soup, soy garlic bossom. We ordered a few other spicy dishes including the spicy marinated crab and the naegmyeon raw fish - where I asked the server who was scooping it for us, whether it was spicy or not and she kept insisting for me to try. However it was too spicy for my liking and if you're like me and don't like spicy, be wary of the spicy dishes. I was disappointed afterwards because I know my spice tolerance, and if she told me it was spicy I would've have tried it at all. On the other hand, my friend described it as a kick, and he was ok with it.

I've been here two times already and hands down they have the best soondooboo! Everything here is delicious. Must order: Soondooboo (not on the menu but just ask for it) Grilled Flounder Seaweed soup Marinated pork ribs Spicy beef rib soup Skip: Steamed Blue crabs (a bit mushy and not much flavor) Stirr fried blue crabs (mushy also but the sauce is so good with rice) Soy garlic bossom (too fatty) The korean aunties are super friendly and space is very big and clean.
The restaurant is spacious and new. The tasty is authentic and on point. You can know it because 90% customers are Korean. The menu is more designed for groups of people to share. I will come back to try stew with friends/ family next time. I wish they had lunch menu.
There's an entrance in the back and front (Crocheon Ave and Depot Rd). There's lots of tables, and 2 single bathrooms - one for men (has a urinal and toilet), one for women (has a toilet and diaper change station). Friendly service, and most of the staff also speak Korean as many patrons were conversing in Korean! The banchan was good. The kimchi isn't too spicy. The hot tea has a lovely roasted flavor. I came here for the the Beef Blood Hangover Soup. The broth is a little salty by itself but perfect with the ingredients and rice. There's lots of beef blood and organs, bean sprouts, and other veggies. You have the option of white rice or brown rice (purple rice). I went with white rice, which was perfectly cooked, but will go with brown next time! The Spicy Stir Fried Cuttlefish was more veggies (sweet peppers) than cuttlefish, and that's most of the flavor. The cuttlefish is cut on the smaller side. I would enjoy this more if it was cut on the bigger side and had a better balance between cuttlefish and veggies. It's not too spicy, so it is a good accompaniment to rice. I just wouldn't order it again. Definitely come here for the soups! I am interested in trying the crab next time as well.
Haejang is putting a modern spin on Korean food in Flushing (K-Town), New York and they're doing it right! It's the kind of spot that hits you with those nostalgic, authentic Korean flavors but levels them up just enough to keep things exciting. I heard that if you come for lunch, they serve croaker like how BCD Tofu House used to (which already has me planning my next visit ). But for dinner? I went all in with their crispy juicy fried dumpling, grilled mackerel, cheese dak-galbi set (showstopper), and the top blade beef steak. No regrets. Every dish came out solid, flavorful, and lowkey addictive. If you made it this far, just know this... I'm 100% coming back... probably sooner than I should. Recently opened, Haejang already excels in flavor and service. The restaurant is very spacious and is perfect for groups and birthday dinners! Our table ordered the stir-fried crab, spicy stir-fried cuttlefish, gamjatang hotpot, and steak. Everything was *chef's kiss* and the real star of the show was the stir-fried crab - packed with flavor and paired perfectly with rice. The cuttlefish and gamjatang were also delightful. Our night was truly enjoyable and our waitress 이모 was spectacular and her enthusiasm was unmatched. Thank you so much! read more

We had a craving for Korean food and decided to try Haejang mainly because the menu looked delicious. The restaurant is a little hard to see as it's offset from the road. It's pretty new. It's clean. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The Ox tail bone broth soup was perfect for a cold evening. It was full of flavor with a lot of tendons. The beef tartare bibimbap was refreshing and served cold. It was a large bowl consisting of beef, fish roe, lettuce, Korean pear and white rice. The spicy cuttlefish was a good contrast to the sweet and savory. It was not overly spicy. And it was a generous portion. We'll definitely be coming back for round two. read more

My go-to spot for soup now! For non-spicy option, I love the pork soup and the galbitang (oxtail was really bland for me). All the spicy soups I've tried so far are good! And they don't taste like water plus spicy sauce. Very meaty as well. read more
This place was sooooo good! The stir fried crab is really delicious, perfect on rice. Beef ribs soup was wholesome and hearty, felt very homemade and hit my soul just right. Flounder was crispy and such a good value for $19. The crab was $25, quality of the food and meats were really high and well worth the prices. Have to come back to try some of their other stews next time. If I had to make any critique it would just be a yummier kimchi, it was more on the sour side which is not my preference but might be for someone else. read more

Haejang is a pretty new spot in town, and it's already off to a great start. The restaurant has plenty of seating, so no long waits, and the space is super clean and comfortable. Service was friendly and attentive, which always makes the experience better. I tried the soondaeguk and kalbitang which were both solid and hit the spot. The broth was flavorful, and the portions were big. Couldn't finish it and had to take the rest to-go. Definitely a nice addition to the neighborhood if you're in the mood for some comforting Korean soup dishes. Will be back to try more! read more

Food portions are really good for the price. The food is also really good! Got the galbitang, galbijjim, fish, bossan and the other pork dish. They were all good. Probably best to come with a big group to try everything and finish it all. Service was quite good and food comes out at a reasonable speed. read more

A beautiful, modern dining room serving Korean "hangover" soups and comfort food classics. The combo sets are a great value. We came for the seaweed soup (with oysters) to celebrate my mom's birthday. All the seafood we had was great - fried pollack was fresh and crispy and the grilled mackerel was meaty and savory with fish fat. Seafood pancake had big chunks of shrimp and octopus with tender lengths of scallion. Service was excellent, attentive but not overbearing. read more

Awesome first time at this restaurant. Great decor and amazing service! Very attentive to our needs. Ordered the gamjatang jungol, soondae platter, and Chinese style stir fried crab. The standout had to be the gamjatang...flavorful and on point. Soondae was soft and delicious and the stir fried crab had a good sauce but I would probably skip this dish the next time as it was a bit salty. Otherwise great find! read more

Tried this spot recently and really enjoyed it! The space is spacious with an upscale vibe. Portions are generous across all the dishes. It's a great place for a night out -- and surprisingly perfect for the morning after too, thanks to their refreshing soups. Definitely one of my go-to spots now! read more

Food was delicious! We got the spicy stir fried pork, jjamppong, and spicy beef rib soup. The jjamppong had a unique, smokey flavor and the noodles were the perfect texture. Service was also amazing. Everyone was attentive and kind. read more

This place is absolutely delicious. The mushroom japchae and spicy pork bone broth was incredible. Service is fast as I think they're relatively new, but will definitely be going back. read more
