Loved my experience with all the stylists here. I have seen a few different people. My hair is thick and ethnic. I've had a lot of people be very intimidated by it and over charge me for it only for lackluster results. I came to RPS after going to a different salon where I was there for over 5.5 hours for a cut and color. I realize color matching takes a while, but c'mon! Katlyn is a wizard with color! She is new to this salon but has been in the business for many years. She has always kept my blonde looking natural and beachy. Recently I told her I was ready to start blending the blonde with my gray hair and she has exceeded my expectations with that color process. I cannot ptaise her skill enough. Katlyn listens to what I want, is honest with feedback, and I always leave feeling amazing. The salon itself is bright, airy, and full of good energy. The entire team is professional and efficient. I've been seeing Abby for the last three years and every time she's delivered. She's been my partner in crime as I've moved around the color wheel as well as experimented with different lengths, from long and layered, to short pixie cuts. She really takes time to get to know her clients, not just in terms of hair but also life! She makes each visit and joy. Like the other Yelpers, I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this salon. I'm very picky when it comes to my hair, but I needed to find a new salon/hair dresser. The reviews were so great for Rock, Paper, Scissors, I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the sweetest, friendliest receptionist, Gillian. Then Kelly came out to greet me with the same welcoming smile. She listened to my concerns and my needs/wants. I showed her photos and she went over color shades with me. We had a great conversation throughout the entire process about our personal lives and she gave me some great tips on how to wash/condition my hair and suggestions on what to use for color extending, and curly or straight, but never pushed/tried to sell me anything. (I did end up purchasing the items she suggested, but it was great not to be pressured.) Rachel the Shampoo Tech was also extremely friendly and gives the best scalp massages! My hair turned out better than I had hoped. I will definitely be a regular with Kelly at Rock, Paper, Scissors! I highly recommend! read more

There was an initial hiccup -- I booked a new client scissor cut online, stating that I'm growing my hair out and when I received confirmation, they changed it to a clipper cut, probably because I'm a man. I emailed back stating that my hair was at least 6" long and I don't want a clipper cut, and they changed it back to a scissor cut. Why they changed it in the first place, I don't know. When I arrived for the appoint,ent, I found Molly the receptionist to be quite welcoming. My stylist Kelly provided a great consultation, answering all of my questions and not rushing through it. Whoever did my shampoo was lackluster -- no scalp massage, and barely any pressure. She put in the conditioner, rubbed it in twice, then rinsed it out. I have curly hair and it could've used more than that. Kelly made up for that experience with a great trim and great styling at the end. I can't go to my barber any more as my hair is longer now so I was looking for a replacement stylist. I'll definitely go back to Kelly for my next trim, and possibly a Keratin Express treatment this summer. I just hope they resolve the booking issue and would love to see the shampooing/conditioning experience more of a salon quality. read more

I really like this shop. Located in a small shopping center on Honeygo Center Drive. Plenty of parking and great hours. The salon is kept clean and equipment used is updated. Staff is very friendly and know their jobs well. I've come 3 times in recent months and my hairdresser, Beatrix, performed miracles with my hair. Went from black to a very nice medium brown with honey bayalage highlights. Love love love it! Have received numerous compliments. I also love the fact that they serve wine and light snacks while you wait! Bonus!! It's a little pricey so not sure if I can continue to maintain but it's sure worth tryin! read more

I went to Rock Paper Scissors based on the yelp reviews. It's always hard to find a salon when I move so I rely on yelp. The salon is nice and people are friendly. I met with Lauren Warehime for a cut, trim off a previous cut. I explained that my hair is naturally curly and fine and I was trying to get back to my lob/beach wave look from before. Lauren proceeded to cut all of my hair with texturizing scissors. This absolutely destroyed my hair and turned it into total frizz. Using a texturizer all over my hair was the worst possible case scenario. A year later and I am still cutting the frizz away. That's right, I let my hair grow out a full year, hoping to get rid of the frizz. It's still not gone. Generally, when I look at my hair in the mirror, I want to cry read more

I only do so when a business REALLY sucks or is REALLY great, and in the case of Rock Paper Scissors, the service and experience was beyond fantastic. Julie, who is also an owner of the salon, did my hair which had been long for all my life. So when I say I was nervous about cutting it short, it would be an understatement. I provided her with a photo of a cut I liked, but she was straight with me and said that particular look wouldn't flatter me. I trusted her and said "do what you think would look good". Not only did she exceed all of my expectations, I cannot tell you how many compliments I've gotten on the cut and color! She's literally made me feel like a new woman and I've been singing her salon's praises ever since! Julie, if you read this, I want you to know that I really appreciate what you've done for me and will never let another person cut my hair. You are a true artist at the top of your field and maintain an immaculately clean atmosphere. You didn't push a single product on me, but merely "recommended" what I could buy to keep the style looking the way it did when I left. Kelly does quick amazing work. Very popular busy salon. In a cute nice shopping center, the salon is clean and modern. Make sure the shampoo girl washes your whole head. The girl tried to get away w not washing the entire bottom halo on the back of my head where it is up against the bowl. Told Kelly and she came and rewashed my hair. Kind of important because I was traveling and needed a blow out, getting my hair washed was half the reason I was there. read more

Get your facts straight. You failed to return my voice mail regarding my hair breakage and dryness. I had to spend 200 more dollars in deep conditioning products to return my hair to a proper condition. You never contacted me by telephone or email instead you harassed me repeatedly using Facebook. You did not try to cash my check until December, and you received your money. I am filing a 1 million dollars law suit for harassment, defamation of character and slander against your salon, you personally along with Julie and every employee in your salon as well as everyone who posted any negative comments regarding myself and my children on Facebook or any other website or forum. You will be served. When I get done you will be lucky if you have a box to live in as I am suing you personally and professionally. I have also contacted all local television, newspaper and radio stations as well as The Maryland Department of Business Licensing and Maryland State Board of Cosmetology. I would never step foot in that salon again. Your products are highway robbery at 32.00 for a bottle of shampoo, and your employees are low class. They scheduled me to have my hair fixed and they had no openings for a month so I booked with her. They clearly knew I am not high class like them and I told them money was not an issue. I have never been to a hair salon before, but if they all provide the quality of the service I had with Beatrix at RPS, I'm sure I'd have a lot of happy friends. Beatrix took the time to explain what she thought would be good for my hair and why, and explained what I would need to do in the future. She also listened to my wishes and made them happen. I had full highlights and a rose gold glaze. Beatrix made sure to ease my anxiety by inviting me to look her up on IG (@hair.by.beatrix) to see her work. My hair turned out beautifully, and Beatrix took the time to teach me how to achieve the look I want at home. The shampoo girls and the receptionist were all super friendly and helpful.
