After growing out my black box dye for two years, I booked an appointment with Ambrosia to begin blending my grey and adding more white/silver. I understood from the start that this would be a multi-visit process, and I was prepared for both the time and cost involved. My first visit went as expected, though it was quite pricey. However, my second appointment was canceled by Ambrosia and, despite being told it would be rescheduled, I was never contacted to rebook. This has left me in a difficult position -- I now have to find another stylist willing to continue the process and correct or match the work already started. Holy cow! Where do I even begin?! I have been hearing praises about Ann-Marie for some time now from other members but just haven't had the opportunity to actually make the appointment. Since I had a window of time today, I decided to go for it when they said Ann-Marie had time at noon. Why not? She was incredible! First, her bedside manners are awesome - she was so attentive in ensuring I was comfortable and everything was neat and very clean. Second, her personality was just so pleasant, kind and professional all around. She delivered the exact service I had in mind and was able to add dermaplaning as well which is what I wanted. I've been coming to this salon regularly since moving to the neighborhood, and I've always appreciated the quality of service. As a new mom, I've ALWAYS brought my baby with me to my appointments.Each time, I've made sure to call ahead and ask if it was okay to bring my child, and the front desk staff consistently assured me it was fine. However, today I had a very different experience. A woman--who I believe was a manager--approached me and said that children aren't allowed in the salon. She even suggested I consider daycare for future visits. I explained that I had already checked in advance and was told it was okay, but she insisted that if my baby made noise, I might be asked to leave. I was stunned. Imagine being told you might have to leave with hair color still processing because your baby made a sound? I offered to cancel my appointment right then, but was told I could stay this time and that a note would be added to my file. It felt unnecessarily punitive and frankly, condescending. Instead of enjoying my visit, I spent the entire time anxious that my son might make a noise. Thankfully, he was calm, and two other clients even complimented how well-behaved he was. Still, the vibe had already shifted. I didn't feel welcomed--I felt judged. What's especially disappointing is that I've seen other children in the salon before, and my previous visits were always warm and accommodating. Unfortunately, this time left me feeling uncomfortable and singled out. As a result, I've canceled my upcoming appointments. If my child isn't welcome, then neither is my business. I'm sharing this in the hope that the salon reflects on how it approaches situations with new moms. A little kindness goes a long way. You should train your staff to know your policies. read more

I wasn't going to post a review because typically there's so many variables in hair it's easy to leave with something other than you expected or wanted. However, I'm appalled by how awful my hair looked when I left and then what followed. I was recommended to go here and the friend the recommended me made my appointment. She let the salon know I had red hair and wanted a hair cut at the very least because this was for a very fancy wedding. They called the day of to reschedule for a later time, which I had a nail appointment an hour and a half after the new time so I figured that would be enough time to at least touch up my roots and cut my hair. I get to the salon and Jordan doesn't even have red hair dye. I'm not sure what kind of hair stylist doesn't have natural colors on hand, but I already wanted to walk out. So I said fine do brown or blonde (I was so frustrated). She said she didn't have enough time to do either of those colors, but she could glaze it. So she glazed it and it came out a dark brown. Which at this point I didn't even care because I was so stressed and done. Then I asked her to trim my dead ends and frame my face with curtain bangs that started at my cheek bone. I have never had such a god awful hair cut in my entire life. My bangs were so awful I felt so ugly. Right before a wedding too! I have attached pictures of my hair because I cannot explain how awful it was. It was so bad that my hairstylist back home texted me and said "I'll wait for the phone call to fix that hair cut of yours". I texted Jordan saying I didn't like my hair and it made me feel so self conscious and I needed ideas on how to hide these god awful bangs to which I received no response. I STILL wasn't going to write this review until the friend that referred me to the salon went to get her hair done by Jordan and called me immediately after saying Jordan was talking crap about me and my relationship (I met this friend because I am dating her brother). This is all after Jordan was very pushy during our conversation during our appointment and pressed for all the details about my ENTIRE life and then talked crap about my friends mom not showing up to her appointment and not even calling to cancel. Jordan is by far the worst hair stylist I've ever had the displeasure to work with and is the rudest most "hair shop" talk stylist I've ever met as well. I would never walk through those doors again for any service or recommend anyone to this salon. Now, a month later I am still trying to grow out my bangs and still feel so so ugly and I know that somewhere Jordan is talking crap about me! read more

This was my first time dying my hair, I've had virgin hair all my life and was always afraid of bleaching it and damaging it. After months of convincing myself and finding the color I thought was right for me I decided to make an appointment at Ambience based on a friends recommendation. I went to the appointment super nervous but excited as well and walked out disappointed and defeated. Besides offereing me a drink when I first arrived my hairstylist hardly spoke to me and lacked basic customer service you would find at any hair salon. Seeing as it was the first time I had bleached my hair, I felt burning on my scalp and had to ask if that was normal. When she was washing the bleach out, she used very hot water that burned and never asked if it was okay. When she started adding color, she didn't check with me if it was the color I wanted until after she has styled it. I know I should have said something, but she made me feel so uncomfortable that I felt like I couldn't speak up. She then had me pose for her to take pictures which she never asked if I was okay with. She also never gave me a run down on how to take care of my hair afterwards so I wouldn't damage it, or so the color wouldn't fade. Overall I paid $230 for a horrible first time experience where I didn't even get the end result I wanted. That being said when I was left alone in the chair, I watched the other hairstylists and they all seemed lovely and had great customer service. I had wanted a dark red and showed her a video and multiple pictures, including the ones below. Instead I ended up with a purple/pinkish color that I didn't ask for. read more

I've been a member of the Claremont Club for over 25 years. I've always had great service at Ambiance... until recently. First off my experience with Brianne- Yikes. She doesn't like her job and it shows. She seemed bothered the entire time, did a half-@$$ job and she cut me and made me bleed. Since the whole appointment was a crap show, I didn't expect an apology, but I did at least expect some alcohol on the wound. Nope. Nothing. The blood was clearly visible from her vantage point, but...? Next a make up appointment with Clarissa. Just don't do it. She was unprofessionally late to an appointment scheduled more than 3 weeks in advance . Colors were not blended, eyelashes were crooked-just a MESS of an experience. I came home, washed off all of the orange horrible-ness that she tried to pass off as make up artistry and tried to forget about the entire experience. I get it when people say this place is going downhill. I just didn't want to believe it. read more

I have been to quite a few stylists, and i've always ended up slightly disappointed. I am very picky about my hair and the outcome was always very close, but never quite what I was looking for. I would leave feeling slightly disappointed and like I just wasted money. I was looking for a new stylist and someone I know recommended Jordan to me. I walked in and felt so comfortable. Jordan kept conversation very engaging and was honestly one of the nicest stylists I have ever been to. She was the only person who could get my blonde hair looking exactly how I wanted it to! (see picture below). My most recent appointment I was hoping to dye my hair brunette and get wispy bangs. I was extremely nervous since I have been a natural blonde my entire life and bangs is a very large commitment. Before she started I had shown her a few pictures for inspo. I love that she made sure to walk me through everything before we started. Now listen when I say, every single time I have been to Jordan she has given me exactly what I wanted. But this time especially she really blew me away. I was so nervous because this was such a drastic change, but I genuinely could not be more happy with the results. My results (shown below) came out looking like everything I wanted and more!!! I left the salon feeling my absolute best and I could not stop smiling and looking at my hair. I LOVE this spa. I come here often and each time the experience is wonderful. Most recently I had a facial with Melissa. She was attentive and very knowledgeable. She gave me so many samples that I was able to try a broad spectrum of their products. It's a bit more pricey that local places, but I'm an avid believer that you get what you pay for. I went to a hair dresser Malorie Pulvers there and I wanted her to do my hair a soft baby pink. She told me she could do it. So 5 appointments later I left with hot magenta hair It was so embarrassing. She knew I wasn't happy. I got home to realize she fried my hair. I had blisters on my head my head hurt for a month after and now it's going to take a year or so to grow back 1/3 of my hair. I called the salon to tell them left my name and number no response ot follow up. She left the bleach on my head at least 1 1/2 hours plus added more and put me under heat. So if you like having hair on your head don't go to her. read more

My wonderful masseuse Amy left Massage Envy in Claremont, to come here so... I came to see her new digs. I had been here before and pondered using the place more often now that Amy was here. The thing I don't like about Ambiance is that I NEVER get the impression that my business is valued by the receptionist nor the snobby atmosphere of the ladies inside of the salon (while you walk through) It still is expensive and for the money I expect them to treat you as if your presence is appreciated that goes across the board from the moment you walk in through the end of your massage when you are paying your bill. So if you are not a member of the Claremont Club or a part of the "in the know" be prepared for perhaps the awkward feeling when you arrive, but put that behind you and make an appt with Amy she is AWESOME!!! and I miss her dearly at Massage Envy but wish her well at Ambiance. BTW when I went there I was a bit confused because apparently they already had a Amy there so my Amy had to change her name here to avoid confusion with the other masseuse... she is now known by "Jaimy" =[ yea I've worked at many places that had multiple Pam's in Sales before, and granted I was the person who had been there the longest, we just added our last initial to our tags. I paid for a spa mani/pedi that costs $80 and it was seriously lacking. i just wanted my nails buffed and they aren't even shiny and look dirty underneath. She said there was no need to put my hand in the water because I wasn't getting my cuticles pushed back. How about for cleanliness? I am going on a trip and after 2 kids back to back, I hadn't gotten a Brazilian Bikini Wax in a while. The lady I used to use moved to a location way to far away and I wanted something locale. I found this place on Yelp and picked it because of the great reviews. The place is nice and clean and the only downside is that they are inside a place called the Claremont Club and it's a little hard to find (it doesn't look like a salon on the outside). I got my wax from a bubbly and very friendly girl named Allison. She was very knowledgeable and has been doing this for about 9 years now. She kept me talking which helped with the pain and uses the kind of wax that dries hard so that it's not painful as well. Now, I'm happy, my husband's happy, and I don't have to worry about unsightly hairs on my trip! They also offer a 15 minute service after you get a treatment of some sort. I could be a hair wash and blowdry, nail treatment, massage, etc. It's completely free! I got the massage and was thinking it would be like a mall massage. I was wrong. Another lady, Kimberly, took me to a room with dim lights and soothing music and massaged my neck and back for 15 minutes! It was AWESOME! To to this place and ask for Allison for a wax and Kimberly for a massage. you won't be disappointed! read more
