I was a new customer to the salon, I needed to get my hair done for a wedding the next day. I asked for somebody with experience in hair color. I was told that Alexandra had a lot of experience. I showed her an inspiration photo, and I quickly noticed that she was not as experienced as other stylists I have used in the past. I had to ask what method she was using and make sure she was applying the correct root color I had requested on my roots. She didn't bother to do a test on my hair like a professional usually would. In the end I was overcharged $220 and my hair color did not match the inspiration photo at all!!! She blamed the hair color on my hair and stated that next time she could try something different I had no choice, but to go to the wedding unsatisfied with my hair color results. I let her know that I needed a correction as soon as possible because I did not like the results at all! She did a color correction 2 days later that I I had no choice but to settle for because I didn't want to continue to damage my hair with more highlights, she charged me an additional $60 I don't think I should've paid to have my color corrected. I came back a third time just for a root touchup and to my surprise, she decided to go several shades darker without consulting me, or showing me any samples of what it was going to look like. She charged me $90 and she refuses to refund the money or allow another stylist to correct my hair. I can no longer trust her to do my hair. I've given her 3 opportunities and she has failed me twice! I cannot fathom the thought of coming in a fourth time when I do not trust this persons judgment. The salon owner has tried to find a resolution, and she is unwilling to admit fault and return the money. read more

OMG. How on earth is it possible to f' up a simple bang trim to such an extent!!!! I can't even. Impatient, unprofessional and a liar! Ruined two years of growth in two seconds! Mimi cut way the hell back beyond where bangs should go. I had called to set up a consultation and perhaps bang trim, if it seemed a good fit. I wanted to talk about potential styles and highlights for the future. I wanted to have the bangs just shaped a little for passport photos I have coming up, but if it didn't work for the consultation time, I was okay with that. (This was absolutely clear and what I said I wanted to do by phone.) She stood glowering at the counter when I walked in. Assumed it wasn't her, because of this and because she didn't introduce herself but I had... I did see she had moved to a chair and just stood there - same look on her face. The receptionist offered me water and coffee, but didn't introduce me to anyone either. So, I just stood there and waited, still not realizing it was her. I just grabbed a water and a small bit of coffee. I looked around and had to be the one who said, "Are you Mimi?!" When no one did anything. I went to sit down and thought maybe she was in a hurry and I'd missed something. She seemed to be angry the whole time. Should have known something was up, already (obviously now, but in retrospect) and when she acted like I couldn't possibly know how to use WiFii? And started making notes about how I used my phone. ??? I wanted to meet her and (new to the area and need a stylist) talk about styles/colors she thought were possible. You know, what you do at a consultation!!! She said usually people show pictures of what they want and was rude. So, still not getting that there could be some ill will, I've never met her or even been there, I thought of some styles, but asked her for suggestions think of creative ideas to consider for later. I had seen a few reviews which had her name. I didn't have a nice impression of her, but thought just a simple bang trim of shaping up was pretty basic. I had let my bangs grow out two and a half years, so they went well past my chin. She cut about six to eight inches with absolutely no shaping up, and the corners were cut HIGHER than the center. And it just hangs in my face; I can't tuck it behind my ears now and it's horrible. She just stood glaring. I asked ,"Is this is it?" And I tried to move it around and see if I could brush it to the side or how I was supposed to do anything with it, to keep it out of my eyes and face. She then started to try to argue with me and said I did it! What the what? I just rose up, realizing this was psycho stuff, and said "I can't do this," and left. Hooooowwwwww Escape, HOW do you do you treat potential new clients like this?!!! I've rewritten this a few times, because I'm still in shock and was furious when I got home. I'm from NY and have had my hair actually done by professionals there my whole life, in many states and Europe on a regular basis. I realize SoCal has some pretty horrible behavior, but how on earth is a "luxury" spa/studio having this kind of low caliber service/person there?! It's truly terrifying. read more

She completely ruined my hair color. I asked her to tone my balayage slightly ashier and she dyed my hair dark brown, ruining the highlights I had in my hair. I don't know if it was a miscommunication or if she just doesn't know what she's doing, but when I expressed my disappointment to her she got an attitude and refused to fix it to my liking or give me a refund. I have been a client of Rocco's for a few years but this year he performed a miracle on my hair. Late last year I insisted on going red and he did it for me.
