Having things go wrong with your Air Conditioner is not a pleasant experience. Your mind is wondering how much this is going to cost, what is wrong with it and then the problem is presented to by photos and explanations! My unit was 20 years old and know -ing this was going to happen someday like today is here! I called Ambient and after showing my A-frame was going out. So we setup a meeting with Kyle with Ambient and giving a free heater with their Air Conditioning Unit! Kyle inspected everything and said they would have it installed in one day!! My AC fan at the main unit would occasionally fail to start without a "nudge" to get it started. An internet search revealed that an AC capacitor failure was the likely problem. Tech came out and confirmed this and recommended it as well as the contactor switch be replaced. The bill for repairs...roughly $1000.00 + the $99.00 service call. He asked if I was made aware of the service charge when I made the appointment (I was not). I declined the repairs, paid the service charge and ordered the parts from Home Depot. Parts were $35.00 delivered free of charge in less than 3 hours. It took me less than 30 minutes to swap them out and everything works like new. The lesson here, some fixes are easy and simple enough to be DIY. Don't fall victim to opportunistic gougers unless you feel a labor rate of essentially $1800.00 an hour sounds fair to you. read more

Requested for air-condition service and they gave us two diagnostics one day after another came out not fixing the problem and they were charging us $588. The first tech's diagnosis was to put in some freon and the second diagnosis was to replace the whole unit. I asked them to at least lower down the diagnostic fee while I'm getting another company to fix my aircondition unit. This company is not really helpful. read more

I waited a while to post this to see if I would hear back from the company, I never did! I had them come over to do a service on my heater on a deal through Home Depot since I have not had the unit serviced since I bought the house. I was up in the crawl space two days before the tech came out to see if there was a filter on the unit so I could get one and have them install it when they came. I saw nothing visually wrong with the system nor did I smell any gas or anything up there. The tech comes out goes up and came down about 10 minutes later telling me there is a gas leak up there and he smelled gas right when he went up and the gas needs to be turned off and leak repaired before we have an explosion! I followed him back up and saw the leak was where the gas shut off ball valve and flex hose connect to the solid gas line. The tech said it would be $1900.00 to fix it, what !!??? If it really needed to be fixed the parts may cost about $50.00 and an hour or so of time $1900.00 REALLY!! So I told no and to leave because I knew he was trying to rip us off!!! I went back up and you can see tool marks on the ball valve where he backed it off to cause the leak and you could see the sealer used was broken when he backed off the valve!!! So this tech comes sees an older couple and thinks we know nothing and will not check things and take his word for it. Then causes a gas leak himself and try's to scare us into an unnecessary and costly repair by saying our house could blow up!! Well I guess the repairs necessary now cause the tech caused it! I had another HVAC person come out and they agree the valve was intentionally backed off. They took the valve off resealed it and tightened it up guess what no leak!!! I wish I could give this company less than the one star cause they don't even deserve that!! They are dishonest and ripoff whoever they can. Be aware of you are an older person they obviously think you don't know anything and will try to rip you off with unnecessary repairs at inflated prices!!! I tried to call and email the company to let them know what the tech did and they never responded which tells me they know exactly what he did and condone it. Price gouging, not honest. I used them for by blocked kitchen sink because they are now associated with Fayette AC a long time trusted company. Fayette was sold but I hoped they would continue being trusted and honest even with the sale and merger. I asked an approximate cost when I made the appointment but was told the tech would determine the price. The service call was $99 but waived it the service was preformed. Tech quoted $384. I kind of expected about 1/2 that, I thought this was extremely high. I asked if this was going to take a couple hours for that price, it only took about 1 hour. I had it done, which I should not have but it was completely clogged and late in the day. I did have a $50 off coupon. Tech was nice, did a good job but $384 an hour is outrageous. read more

We had our air conditioners serviced today by Ambient Edge. The technician's name was Dylan. He showed up on time and was very polite. Not only did he do a great job but he took the time to explain to us what he was doing and why. Dylan also noticed that who ever installed our air conditioners put the wrong screws on the doors. This would have caused a lot of noise during the summer when we have it on full time. He replaced the screws for us. Great company. I highly recommend. read more

VERY DISHONEST!!! Quoted us a repair for 5 grand that didn't seem right. Had another company come out and give a second opinion. Only had to pay $634 dollars and they repaired it that day. Ambient Edge wanted to have us pay $400 to FIND THE LEAK, which the technician should have done right there. The other company found it in 5 minutes and fixed it on the spot! Also, if you have an older unit that uses R22 coolant. Education yourself. Ambient Edge wanted to retrofit a new pump that uses a different type of coolant. While R22 was banned in Jan of 2020, there are companies who still have stockpiles of it and can service your unit! Check to see if other companies have R22 before letting Ambient Edge talk you into spending thousands. Very shady technicians working for them. read more

I have had a service contract with Ambient Edge since 2018. The service, until recently, has been excellent. They were always on time for their appointments. I don't know what happened ... their service now stinks. I had an appointment for yesterday, for them to come check my furnace for the winter (they normally come before summer, and before winter). We were home all day waiting for someone to show ... they postponed it, late in the afternoon, after we had wasted a day waiting for them. They were supposed to be here early this morning ... they showed up this afternoon, after they texted me at 1152; he showed up at 1222, walked up to the door, didn't even knock on the door, and then left, because he saw a note that was put out there at 1045. I know that he didn't knock because my video camera shows that he didn't knock, and I have two dogs who didn't even bark. So, now I have to wait until the technician is done with another appointment in another town. After this service, I will be cancelling my service agreement with Ambient Edge. I won't do business with a company that has no respect for my time. I am sure there are other companies out there that still provide excellent customer service. By the way ... We bought a new sink from Home Depot . We needed an install and we were quoted $279 for install on an under mount sink. Today the guy from Ambient edge shows up and he's cutting out our sink, it's in pieces, is boss Mike called and told him he can remove the sink but not install the new one or else we would have to pay... $700.00 for the job! We had them do a service on our Ambient Edge installed air conditioner in April or May and they said the relay switch was bad which we had replaced at a cost of over $400. The air quit working today and they informed us that to come out today it would be a $119 charge just to come out and if the problem was not due to the previous repair that they would charge $200 just to go out to the truck and retrieve a new part. Total Waste of Time To begin with the Technician didn't arrive until 7:30 PM when we were told it Would be between 3:00 a 5:00 PM. He had trouble identifying what component needed to be replaced.or so he said. He quoted a Price for a blower motor to be $800.00. From there he started pushing to recommend having a new unit put in and estimated it at $14 000.00; but said he was guessing about the actual price that we would have to have a salesman come give us a quote. Called for a quote from Ambient Edge and Plumbing by Jake. The rep showed up on time and gave me an estimate of $691 to install new water shut off valves for my washing machine. When asked how long it would take he responded one hour. $691 per hour was too rich for me. Even if the parts cost $200, that's still $500 per hour. I wont disclose what I needed done with my AC unit for privacy reasons so I won't be harrassed about my review. An older technician came out gave an evaluation with an estimate which I knew didn't sound right. I didnt have a good feeling about him. He seemed very dishonest and turns out, he was! They wanted to charge us a jaw-dropping, outrageous amount of money, saying we had two options...we could retrofit the old unit for 4 grand or buy a new unit for 10-12k because there was a leak somewhere that he would have to find. (There was a charge just for finding the leak, by the way! Something he should have been able to do right there. We scheduled another quote with another company and I'm so glad that I did! He immediately found the leak (which was a loose pressure cap.) Why couldn't the other guy just tighten that?! Makes me wonder how it got loosened. After all was said and done, we only paid $634 for a simplr service and repair that Ambient Edge wanted to charge us 4 grand for. Do not let these people prey on you! Our air conditioner quit working on a friday night. Saturday morning My husband called over 10 different companies - and not one could (or would) help us. Then I remembered a post card advertisement which I had saved from Ambient Edge. My husband phoned their number, and they told him what time they would be at our house That Day. This place is very expensive for their call out. $245 to tell me that there is a small leak. It took two days as I say in 90+ degrees for them to get back to me with a quote on how much if would cost to fix. They came back with an outrageous quote that would take a week. I called another company to have them come and give me a second opinion. When they arrived we found out ambient edge's person had taken the disconnect for the power. So another day was gone. The second company came back and said that the freon was a little low. They recharged it and said they would return with dye to pinpoint the leak. They also did the research to find that our unit was under warranty. A fact that ambient edge failed to do. I will never use ambient edge again. After a sleepless night, having discovered during late evening last night our air conditioning unit was leaking profusely, I highly recommend Ambient Edge. In response to my early morning message, I was contacted as soon as their office opened by a friendly, profession employee. She assured me it would be handled today. Following a phone call five minutes prior to arrival, Danny got right to work trouble shooting. After identifying and explaining the problem, assuring us it was fixable with tools available on his service truck, the leak was stopped and future problems avoided. Prior to leaving, Danny shared with us the value of an annual service contract, with substantial savings through routine maintenance and available discounts. We plan to take advantage of that offering. We are glad a local business hires, trains and keeps employees who treat the business as their own. I've been their customer for over 17 years.
