The establishment was nice and very wide! Staff is friendly but once you go inside the movie theater room, you can tell it's time for an upgrade. The seats are very old and used up even the armrests are broken . My Drink was the leaning tower of pisa for a little bit. I hope I spelled that reference right haha. The cushion on the seats were very worn down it wasn't to bad but it wasn't the best either. Bathrooms are nice and clean tho very large and a lot of mirrors for selfies LOL Not going to lie it took me back to my childhood when I used to go to the movies . Y'all. Just saw Exit 8. Amazing film. I highly recommend. But the multiplex. I remember when this was a lively gathering spot for SGV friends and families to be on a weekend night. The ticket booth out front was making short work of long lines. Maybe not all ticket stations were open, but a majority, and all were staffed by actual human beings. People would meet up and hang out in the big courtyard in front of the theater, laughing and enjoying ice cream. Inside, the place was clean and air-conditioned, smelling vaguely of new carpet and strongly of popcorn. It was a fun, wholesome night out, just like the movies have always been. Fast forward to 2026. Almost nobody there. One solitary ticket-taker who was mostly validating seats bought online. Funky smell in the main hall. Bathrooms were trashed, like they didn't have enough people to do regular cleaning, or the maintenance staff was AWOL. Clogged toilets, no TP, etc. After the film, we moved from fthe nearly deserted theater into the nearly deserted complex, and out into the nearly deserted parking lot. I can't ever remember seeing so few people at the movies on a Saturday night. The whole thing felt post-apocalyptic. read more

Went to AMC Covina for Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye last night! The theater showing was pretty small and the seats were comfortable and very outdated. I think this movie theater can definitely use some renovations, the carpeting and the lighting in the concession stand section can also use a makeover. I like coming here because it's never crowded, saw Superman here in the IMAX theater, seats were dirty, there was gum at the side of the seat, gross!! Also can't tell the difference between the Standard and IMAX experience seems the same to me. Wish they would do a better job cleaning. read more

I recommend this theater because it's got a lot of parking and it shows the most recent movies. However, with that said their theater seating needs a severe upgrade. This is probably one of the few AMC's that do not have recliners and even if they don't have recliners, their seats are old and uncomfortable. Once you sit through a two hour movie you can tell their chairs are old, replace your cushions! read more

To sum up my experience at AMC Covina 17 in one word - MEH. This cinema has been around for 28 years and it shows. Auditorium 1 reeks of stale popcorns and (slightly) rancid fake butter. The seats are old/uncomfortable with sagging/concave armrests. All signs seem to indicate that the management either doesn't care of can't come up with funds to improve seats and/or HVAC efficacy. Unless I must watch a movie that's not shown in a 10-mile radius or 30 minutes drive, I shall not return to this cinema. read more

This movie theater is always clean and the seats are comfortable. You can put the arm rest up if you want and they have huge screens with great surround sound. When I watch IMAX movies here, the whole theater will shake when there are some intense movie scenes which make it feel hyper realistic. Their pizza is also pretty good to enjoy with the movie as well. read more

Okay. For some reason they like to open late. For example, I waited for a 2:00 PM showing of FUZE, and they didn't open until 1:45. I personally like to get the ticket, bathroom, settle in and get some concessions and NOT miss the previews. Some people don't care and start watching the movie cold. We love this place! My only complaint would be that it's sometimes understaffed but that's pretty much how things are now with the economy since COVID. I'm happy they are still open! The kids that work there are great!! Very friendly, courteous & they work hard to get refreshments to their customers as quickly as possible. The theater is old but it's clean. Look, I came to escape the heat not become part of it. The AC was either broken or someone's dad turn off the AC because I was sweating like I was auditioning for Shrek: The Musical... as the swamp. Full on swamp ass. I paid to see a movie, not to marinate in my own misery. Please, for the love of cinema and basic comfort, turn the AC back on. Update 12/31/25: The theater's handling of the Stranger Things event was not great. I mobile-ordered food for a 5:30pm pick up time with a showtime of 5:45pm a day before. Arrived at the theater at 5:30pm and was told mobile pick up was backed up by 30-35 minutes. At first, I didn't mind and just hung back to see if my order would be up soon as the latest order that came out was for 5:10pm. But I was sort of annoyed by the fact they were still taking and fulfilling walk up orders despite being behind. An employee finally came by at around 5:45pm and started asking to see people's orders on their phones and fulfilling them. This is where I started to get a little more annoyed. I had already asked the people around me what their pick up time was because I wanted to see if there was anyone with a time ahead of mine, so I could figure out how long they'd been waiting, but everyone was 5:40pm or later. So I started making my way toward the counter to be helped. The lady next to me had a pick up time of 5:40pm and got her food via the employee before me. The employee told her there was still 20 minutes until her hot food would be ready, so she asked for a refund. He said to come back after the showing and they would refund it. He then helped the guy next to me after she left. I finally got his attention by telling him that my order was supposed to be ready 30 minutes ago. I still didn't get my order until after 6pm even though I had zero hot food (the employee made it sound like my order should have already been ready because of this). Luckily, we did not miss the start of the episode. If this theater partakes in an event like this again, please plan better. Also, orders should be handled by pick up time when you're behind, not by whomever is standing the closest to the counter. read more

I purchased two tickets for a friend and I to see Wicked: For Good on 12/30 at 1:00 pm via Fandango. My friend came from Wrightwood, me from Pasadena. We got there around 12:30 pm. The QR code scanned, we were told to go to Screen #2. After we purchased popcorn and water (cost more than the tickets!) we went to the room only to see another movie on the screen, so we waited outside. When another group went in at 12:56 pm, we went in also to see that the movie was already running. We all went back to the front where there was discussion about cancellations, etc. but we were told they'd start the movie over. So we all went back in. The people already watching were pissed because we (from their perspective) came in late and loud. Still thinking the movie was being restarted, we were noisier than we should have been. They said the movie had started at 11:20. An hour before we even got to the theater. We were ultimately pulled out and told that we had a choice between waiting another hour to see the movie, seeing something else or getting a refund. Wrightwood had just experienced horrible rain, flooding and mudslides so my friend wasn't going to risk driving back up the mountain in the back, so I took a gift card (less my Fandango "convenience" fee, of course) and we left. I'm not sure where the disconnect occurred, but the times in my screenshot were what was offered. But clearly there were people who saw an 11:20 start time somewhere else, and had some pretty nasty words for those of us who didn't. In fairness, the staff was very apologetic and also gave us passes. But what was supposed to be a couple of friends getting together to see a movie before the new year, ended up with both of us taking our $35 popcorn and water and going home. I think I love coming here because it's never packed especially for new movies. Clean. Friendly staff and ample parlor

Definitely on the older side and I usually go here once a month on a weekday late afternoon and it's pretty empty. The bathrooms aren't that clean where it smells quite a bit and the seats are pretty old too. But the good thing is that parking is pretty big and there are a few restaurants and other shops around the theater. But overall, I'll still go since the movie quality is still good but they definitely need to revamp their theater to be newer compared to the other AMC theaters I've been to. read more

Saw Weapons in IMAX. They still have the old traditional seats. No recliners so it was pretty uncomfortable compared to other theaters that had the upgraded recliners. The IMAX screen isn't real IMAX but it was decently sized. About the same size as Cinemark XD from what I can tell. The up side is that this theater isn't crowded so there's plenty of seats to choose from. The seats are close together so you'll be sharing the same arm rest with the person next to you. Be aware of that. The Puente Hills AMC have recliners and you have your own arm rest. I probably won't be coming back to the Covina theater unless they upgrade to better seats. read more

Thought this was off the 10 freeway, it's not. It's further up off of Arrow Hwy. I came here with my family to see Back to the Future on the big screen on October 21st! My cousin bought our tickets and we were running late due to traffic and he left our tickets with the staff out front. When we arrived I let the lady at the entrance know our cousin left us tickets and she asked our names before handing the tickets over which I loved that she checked! We watched the film as a family (my cousin and nephew were visiting from New Zealand). So, because we have this memorable family bonding moment over our favorite film Back to the Future, I love this theater. It's also very clean, there's plenty of parking, it wasn't too crowded and the area felt safe when I was there. read more

I grew up frequenting this theatre a lot and it's sad to see how little they care about preserving the bathrooms for guests. Almost every stall had something gross in it and of course the one cleanish stall had a lock that didn't fully work!! The automatic soap pumps had issues too (except one). The chairs in the theatre are stacked well where whatever seat you pick, you can have a good view. But the material of the seating is definitely outdated. Other than that, AC was working great and not too cold either. The employee at the front who scanned us in was helpful too! read more

Definitely a smoother run this time around and this will be my go to theaters for anime movie showings since I still have issues with the Puente Hills Mall AMC and their theater rooms are smaller/always get super booked. It's still in a slightly sus area since I noticed one of the shopping cart collecting areas completely destroyed by a car, but it's alright. Although it's still pretty aged and kinda dingy, there was no issues with the sound and screens. Crisp, beautiful colors made the IMAX viewing for "Belle" a wonderful experience. The seats are still the older kinds without reclining seats, but you get the added benefit of pulling up the arm rest to create more space. Bathrooms were super clean before and after the movies. Glad that we got handed our Belle promo posters for the viewing ! read more

It's been a while since I've been to the AMC Covina 17. Years ago my friends and I used to drive all the way out here from Pasadena because there are more showings available than what was available locally. It's a bit dated here but everything is fine here. You're not getting the extra cushy chairs and extra bells and whistles. I was also here about a year ago prepandemic and they were having patrons purchase tickets inside as opposed to the outside box office ticket area. This most recent trip they had the outside area opened back up which made it a lot easier when you would enter. Previously when everything was inside it would be a huge bottleneck but now they take/scan your ticket inside now like how it was before. I'm very glad they changed things back, maybe it depends on staffing and if they're going to be busy. I think the seats are a little more narrow here compared to some of the newer places but I could be wrong. Overall, it's a good location to catch movies but there are other AMCs nearby if you're looking for more convenient times that work better for you. There's plenty of parking out here so that's a huge plus. read more

Came to watch the new "Ghost Busters" movie with Paul Rudd. The movie was great. The theater was clean and constantly being cleaned when I looked around. The concession stand employees were great and fast. I appreciated that they answered all of my questions but still tried to be fast on service for everyone. I am not a fan of the ridiculous "Premier" line and the regular movie goers line. I believe it should just be 1 line for all. Movies are already expensive without having to pay extra to be in a faster line for food and check in. Otherwise it was a great experience and I have really missed being in a theater. I just hope people can manage to still keep their distance when choosing their seats. read more

This is definitely the theater we visit most often because it's convenient and clean (as theaters go) and the staff is always friendly and professional. I highly recommend the app, pay for whatever AMC Stubs level fits your needs. I do wish they'd clean up the exterior. Pressure wash it, hang movie posters in the empty ticket boxes... seems easy enough, so I'm not sure why they haven't yet. read more

I enjoy the atmosphere of the theatre and employees are quite kind, but I am angry at corporate. I was an A list member for many years, and then they cancelled me and will not let me go back. They answered e mails and acknowledged my concern but did nothing. My credit card expiration date was updated, so they stopped taking autopay and accused me of cancelling. I think I've seen a movie in each one of their available theaters. Screen and sound are always good, but it's usually the seating that makes me consider going to other AMC theaters. Drove here to see the Barbie movie. It was a nice theatre. Clean and the employees were nice. The only thing is that the Premiere line to order food had one employee taking our orders versus the regular line had multiple employees tending to them. I like this theater and don't want to trash it too much. I get that the industry is struggling so I'm letting little things that would normally bother me go. I can cope with a sticky floor or a long wait at the concession stand. But I have one important complaint I wish AMC would address immediately: Coke Freestyle soda fountains are an affront to humanity. Please, for the love of all that is good, get RID of them. I get that you were understaffed on an exceptionally Barbie-tastic Saturday night teeming with way too many customers, so being able to self-serve is really important. By 7:30 PM, long lines were forming behind every coke machine because those goddamn touch screens never respond properly. Are you in line behind a group of children? Lord help you. Giving us "intelligent" apes more than 100 sickly-sweet drink combinations behind a barely functional menu system is a bad, bad idea. Back in my day, there was a small, set selection of drinks. You aimed for the nozzle with the one you wanted and hit the big, mechanical paddle dingus that filled your cup in just a few seconds. So easy, a toddler could do it. Quick, efficient, convenient. Now you need to fight with an inept computer for 5 minutes. I hate the future. After musing over this for roughly an eon, it was finally my turn at the evil, torturous liquid dispenser. None of the giant, supposedly intuitive bubble icons responded to my touch, except for the sad little "water" button tucked away in the corner. I shouldn't be drinking soda anyway, so here's to my $8 wax paper cup of water bearing the faint taste of whatever disgusting flavor concoction the 9-year old before me spent 15 minutes choosing. And wouldn't you know it, the machine had no ice. In fact, EVERY SINGLE MACHINE had run out of ice. Before 8pm. I'm sorry, I thought this was America. We might be weird for demanding unlimited buckets of sugar water chilled with ungodly amounts of ice. But it is our solemn birthright. I will die on this hill. I will put up with your other deficiencies, as long as I can get a bloody tub of liquid with lots of ice and little hassle. Please just put an old school, dumb soda fountain back in. Ten choices, not a hundred. The ones where you dump in ice from your trusty, industrial ice maker in the back. There's a reason we've done it that way for over half a century. It works. The manager Daniel is unreasonable, rude, and arrogant. He refused to let us see the movie despite having a valid ID. When we bought our ticket, it did not say to have it physically there and he was extremely rude. He only upheld it as a power trip as we had been there multiple times before and would not give a one-time allowance as this physical ID had never been enforced. The theater was empty before us and he was only trying to prove a point by using us as the example. I would not recommend supporting this theater and if any management is seeing this, teach Daniel how to treat paying customers trying to support your business. read more

What's up: Wanted to catch a movie with friends and this location had lots of seats available during the time we were meeting up. Parking: Located at the Covina Town Square, there's a large number of parking spots available. It's also shared with the nearby businesses such as Shakey's Pizza and Aldi. Environment: The decor of the Theater was definitely a lot more dated than the other places I've been to. After entering the Theater, the restrooms can be found immediately to the left. The concession area is located towards the back. Once we got inside the movie room, I noticed that there was still trash tucked in between the seats and the seats themselves were not comfortable. Instead of watching the movie in uncomfortable seats, we decided to leave and get a refund. What was ordered: Movie tickets were purchased with a credit card at one of the self order kiosks near their entrance. We refunded them with the staff member up front due to the uncomfortable seating conditions. Yay/Meh/Nay: Meh. I have had better experiences at other theaters and I think this one could be better. With uncomfortable seats and leftover trash, I think I'm going to try another theater. read more
